It was a nice apartment, it pretty much had everything I needed for the week I was there. The location was very good, close to buses and walking distance to some attractions, close to restaurant, stores but still had a sense of community, I like that! I loved the area! I did try the lemon, made a nice lemony. It's a great place for 1 or 2 people at a time. I liked everything was nice and clean. Thank you Alex for letting me stay at your rental apartment and thank you for all the help. The Supper Shutter was great and the fare price was very good.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, girls getaway, sightseeing, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

This was my first time not renting a hotel and I am very impressed. The location was exceptional and we easily oriented ourselves and were able to walk nearly everywhere. The property was just as described, clean and in a well kept state, all the communication I had with the owner was professional and prompt.There were no surprises. When compared to what I could have spent on a hotel room, equally well equipped and centrally located there is no comparison. I feel that I got very good value for my money. We checked in on Friday and out on Sunday. Very nice place and easy to walk to all local attractions. The place was perfect for a couple and very clean. Would stay again. Excellent food choices nearby.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, sightseeing, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

We had the most pleasant stay there. Alex was super helpful in anything we needed. We would definately reccomend this place to anyone visiting Hollywood. My husband and I stayed here for a few days. It was close to Hollywood's main attractions as well as major metro stations. We got enough of a walk for each day to get good exercise. Our only surprise - which may not have been that of the apartment - was the chilly weather in Hollywood during our stay. As a result, we did not - or if we did couldn't access the heat. That said, we were only in our apartment in the evenings to sleep so we were just too tired to inquire about heating during our stay. Overall, a wonderful clean place. Communication with Alex was also positive prior to our coming to Hollywood.Recommended for: Tourists without a car.

My wife & I had just moved to LA from New York and my wife's employer set us up in this beautiful apartment. Alexander was really friendly, helpful and relaxed. We felt totally at home which was such a delight. The bed is super comfortable, the bathroom is bright and clean and the kitchen is fully equipped with a big gas stove and oven, kitchenware & wine glasses. This place is awesome. Lots of closet space, flatscreen tv with cable. Dining table with chairs, can double as a work desk. Super close to everything, there's even a corner store nearby for essentials if you don't have a car. So much better than a hotel. This feels like a little home away from home. Alex helped us with everything we needed. Would definitely stay again. We really had the place to ourselves. Such a good price too. Perfect 5 Stars !Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, girls getaway, people with disabilities, sightseeing, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

From the beginning the communication with Alex was very easy. He was very responsive and open to my one-million questions that I had prior to our arrival. The space itself was perfect for what we were looking for, and, most importantly it was clean. We actually arrived when the cleaning service was in there so we knew it was cleaned between people staying there. We also enjoyed the location as it was within walking distance of many of the attractions within Hollywood and we definitely took advantage of that! I enjoyed the courtyard area that had the table and chairs and sat out there most mornings to soak up the morning sun. Thanks for being such a gracious host, Alex!Did you find this review helpful? My partner and I stayed in the apartment with our two small dogs during a quick LA trip. The apartment itself is clean, comfortable, and quiet. We especially enjoyed the location. Its close to everything and safe enough to walk dogs late at night. Plenty of street parking. Alex was terrific and available for questions. We will definitely stay here again.Recommended for: Sightseeing, pet owners.

For the price, location and the amenities included, you really can't beat this place. If you think about the kind of hotel/motel you'd get for this price in this area, this is truly a find. Plus, you're not shelling out $30+ per day in parking and $15 per day for WiFi - it's ALL included! The unit itself was more than comfortable and the AC was a real-life saver in the heatwave that occurred during our stay. The owner is helpful and accessible without at all being intrusive - really, Alex is the consummate host! This is my second stay (although I stayed in the upstairs unit previous) and I do consider it my home away from home in LA. If we end up going back with another couple, I am happy that I can rent the unit upstairs, which has a bit more space (VRBO #387591). If you're hedging: don't. Just book it!Recommended for: Age 55+, sightseeing, pet owners, romantic getaway.

About the owner: My son and I live in the front house and I thought it would be fun to leave the two units in back available for friends and family to visit from out of town and also double as a vacation rentals. I work in entertainment cutting commercials for television shows and movies and my son goes to preschool in the neighborhood and is very excited about turning five. I've lived in the neighborhood for six years and when this property went up for sale I had to get it because I love the neighborhood and the oranges are the best I've ever had. There are also a number of fig trees, hot peppers, pomegranates, lemons, and flowers. I grew up in LA and before I became an editor I drove a cab for a while so needless to say I know the city quite well and can provide suggestions of fun things to do and places to go.
Why the Owner Chose Hollywood:
Again the neighborhood is the big draw. It's walking distance to so many great places and although some areas in Hollywood can be somewhat gritty and urban, our corner is very friendly and the neighbors are great. Fountain Ave can get pretty busy at times but somehow our corner maintains an authentic, eccentric, almost small town vibe. When my brother and I were building the gate we decided to leave the diamonds open to talk with the neighbors. Across the street is a community garden and there is a club of elementary school kids who trade vegetables with me for fruit. It's a lot of fun.
The history of the property is interesting as well. I am only the third owner since 1915 when the main house was built. It was one of the first in the neighborhood. A Greek family bought it in the 70s and the father was the one who established the community garden across the street. Apparently he used to go across the street and gather ingredients while he was cooking. Neighbors come by and tell stories about him - I guess he was a bit of a character.
When I was looking at it it just felt like the kind of place I'd want my son to grow up and invite my friends and family to come over and enjoy.
The Unique Benefits at this Apartment:
First of all the great value is a unique benefit. One of the main drawbacks for visiting Hollywood for my friends and family coming from out of town was staying in hotels. For the same layout at the W hotel nearby they are currently charging 399/night - yikes! Of course the W is very fancy and corporate and whatnot and if you enjoy that sort of thing you should definitely call them and not book this vacation rental. However if you are looking for a more authentic neighborhood experience with all the benefits of the same great, fun, location - then this rental would be an excellent value.
This rental is also a great place to travel with your pet. We like animals on June st. I have two cats and dog. Delongpre Park is one block away and everyone brings their dogs in the morning. A restaurant named Cat and Fiddle is walking distance and dog friendly - they provide water bowls and snacks.
