We live in Anchorage, visit Seward regularly, and have stayed in other nightly rentals and hotels. Sea Star Cottage is exceptional! The furnishings are clean and comfortable and fit in with the cottage's coastal theme. The kitchen is fully equipped and there is a propane grill out back. The two bedrooms and one bath easily accommodated our group of 5. There is a nice mountain and bay view from the cozy living room. Best of all, the location is ideal! We were able to walk from the cottage to shops and restaurants, the Sea Life Center and a great playground and skate park located in the waterfront park. The owner quickly responded to our reservation inquiry, and the cottage had a binder with restaurant menus and other useful information. Overall, the cottage was a great choice for our weekend visit to Seward. We will definitely be back.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

Was very please to end our Alaskan cruise with a stay in the cottage while some members of our party planned to fish. Cottage was very clean and comfortable for our party of 5 which included a 4 yr old. Location is easily accessable to downtown shopping and dining as well as the parks and attractions around town. Added benefit was the proximity to the free shuttle line that ran while cruise ships were in town. Our family has stayed in numerous VRBO homes around the country and this was definitely one of our favorite. A black bear wandered thru the yard one of the evenings of our stay and we were able to walk to some salmon creeks.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, age 55+.

I would recommend renting this place before they decide to go up on prices :) Seriously, given the location and the quality of stay, I would have happily paid more. It is easy walking distance to anywhere in Seward. It is also homey, clean and well designed. However, the biggest thing to me is that you can really tell the owners care about their guests' experiences. I really enjoyed staying here and will be back again. I highly recommend staying here.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with young children.

Owner info
About the owner: Alaska has been our home for nearly 15 years. We enjoy the mountains, the water and small town life which is why we love Seward.
Why the Owner Chose Seward:
We knew we wanted a home in Seward from which we could enjoy the views and the simplicity of walking downtown. The Sea Star Cottage grew from this and our desire to renovate one of Seward's original homes. Seward is a place where the mountains, the water and history all come together. We enjoy getting to share this with all who visit.
