Why Stay with us?: Having holidayed in Provence we have stayed in a variety of gites and houses. These experiences, some good some less so, inspired us to create something special for our guests. Enticed by the beauty of this region and French way of life we settled in St Saturnin Les Apt in 2005.
We offer our two one bedroom gites and also have two 3 bedroom houses including Le Chene, contact us for details.
St Saturnin Les Apt is one of the few unspoilt hillside villages in the Luberon, Provence, just 7 kilometres from Apt and close to Bonnieux and Gordes. The historic towns of Avignon and Aix en Provence are about 45 minutes away by road.
Saint Saturnin Les apt: This unspoilt village has a population of just over 2000 people, many of whom live here throughout the year, making it more vibrant out of season than some of it’s more touristy neighbours. It is a true Provencal village retaining much character dominated by a medieval ruined castle with its ramparts and towers and the 17th Century Windmill. Narrow streets, old stone houses with their original doors, water fountains and a central square, which is shaded by plane trees, all create a peaceful ambience.
There are three bars, two hotels and five restaurants providing casual and more formal dining. An excellent Charcuterie, two Boulangeries and a ‘Spar’ supermarket offer a wide variety of products and there is also a chemist, Post Office, cash machine and newsagents.
The area, has been noted for its Olive Oil and the local Moulin, which has a small gift shop, is just outside the village as you approach from Apt. Sylla, the local wine co-operative sells excellent Local Wine.

This is the second year we have stayed at Les Oliviers, and it was just as good as the first. It is a charming spot and within walking distance of the delightful village of St Saturnin. The gites are comforable, clean and well appointed, with a great outlook over the pretty garden and the Luberon mountains. David and Karen, our hosts, have got everything right, being both friendly and approachable, but unobtrsive. A really enjoyable stay.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

A very charming Gite in the center of Provence. Fully equiped with full kitchen, separate bedroom and functional bathroom. A short 12 minute walk into a charming small town where all services can be found. No air conditioning but not required as nights cool off despite the heat of the day. Nice , quiet location with a refreshing pool to swim in after a long day. Hosts were helpful with suggestions and dinner reservations. Hope you like cats as there are three , a couple of which have no problem coming to visit (inside) if your door is open. Near by town has a couple of medium quality dining options - other establishments require driving on small narrow roads at night (can be challenging) - of course the gite is equiped with a BBQ and full kitchen - so dining in is not a problem. Note to travellers from North America who might not know about this type of lodging: Towels and bedding are supplied - but toilet paper (one roll was there when we arrived ), paper towels, soap and shampoo etc are not... so come prepared. Hosts were gracious and left you alone to enjoy the surroundings. They even left for a couple of days (and most evenings) leaving the openning and closing of the pool cover as well as the electric fencing (to discourage wild pigs from the property) to the guests. It felt like home. As there are no sceens on the windows.... do not leave any lights on at night with the windows open in order to avoid flying intruders.... none that bite thank goodness ! Highly recommend this gite if you are looking for something secluded and quiet. Mike and Serge Montreal, CanadaOwner response: Dear Mike & Serge, Thank you for taking the time to add your review. As you mention we do not have air conditioning but for the shortish period (mid July to mid August) where the nights can be hot we have an effective under floor cooling system. Thanks for pointing out about the toilet paper & toiletries, of course we equip the gites with a new loo roll for when you arrive (towels, linen and a welcome boottle of wine are also included) but as in most European self catering properties, you provide the rest. We do not provide a hotel service but are on hand at most times to help clients as they require. In our chambre d'hote room, where we offer bed & breakfast we do provide toiletries as well as a daily clean if required.Regards D&K

This is an amazing property called "gites" by the owners who live on site. these are two adjoining cottages, each with separate bedrooms with a modern well-equipped kitchen. David and Karen, the owners are personable and extremely helpful with any questions or concerns. They act as your personal concierge, happy to make restaurant recommendations and reservations. The pool Is the most beautiful we have ever had in a rental. And "happy hour" around the pool is a highlight of the day. There is a new Weber BBQ , plenty of shade for outdoor dining, and a pétanque court to play boules. The rooms and grounds are kept immaculately. St Saturnine is a charming medieval village within walking distance or a short drive....easy shopping for breakfast. This is a wonderful welcoming place to stay in the Luberon. we will definitely return.Owner response: Dear John & Linda,Thank you for your kind review and comments which we appreciate. We are so glad you enjoyed your experience here and in the Luberon which I know you are familier with. Until the next time.....A Bientot D&K

After we spent our vacation in September 2010 on recommendation at "Les Oliviers", we again returned to this place in June 2012 for 2 wonderful weeks. We enjoyed it there that much that we called it "our little paradise". The garden with the pool is marvelous designed with a view on Luberon southward. Gide and garden are well maintained and David and Karen are available for assistance at any time. This year we enjoyed a few excellent walking tours based on documentation handed over by David and Karen. All those documented tours are equipped with good tour markings. We will surely come again and spend our summer vacation a third time with David and Karen.Owner response: Dear Jüurgen and Dagmar, Vielen Dank! We are happy to see you again we hope next year! We too are so lucky to be living in the 'coin de paradis' and it makes us happy to know you feel the same and share the beauty of this region. David & Karen x

Les Oliviers is a stunning, perfectly formed Gite for two! Beautifully presented and well equipped! The location is fabulous with breathtaking views. The garden is well cared for and bursting with lovely vegetation including the Provençal trade mark - Lavendar. The pool is just devine and is kept immaculately clean. The owners, David and Karen, have created a truly magnificent oasis with all the ingredients for a perfect holiday! One piece of advice - don't book for one week, book for two and take time to let the magic of Provence do its work!Owner response: Dear Stephen & Morag, Thank you for your review and kind comments. We can only endorse your advice to stay at least two weeks as we know from experience how many people wish they could stay longer than booked! hopefully see you again in the not too distant future Regards D&K

Attention to detail, the friendly atmosphere and ideal location make this holiday villa hard to beat. There was plenty of room for 3 generations to holiday happily together and the pleasant outdoor space meant that it was not always easy to drag ourselves away to enjoy the beauty of the Luberon. David and Karen have created something very special which will have visitors returning time and again.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

David & Karen were very friendly, helpful hosts and the facilities were all first class. The pool was very welcome and a great place to cool off from the heat of the day. Superb area for sightseeing and being able to walk into the town was a real bonus (even if the bars do close quite early). I would have no hesitation in recommending Les Cerisiers to anyone looking for a good quality Gite is a superb location.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2008
About the owner: My back ground before living in France was property, I spent over 25 years in residential estate agency in Surrey, England where I was a partner in a reputable firm for the last 15 years. Karen has worked at the head office of M&S, also in catering and in property which is where we met in 1997. Our joint passion for people, property & France led us here in 2005 and I can honestly say we have never looked back!
Why the Owner Chose St. Saturnin-Les-Apt:
When we first walked onto our land in 2005 we knew from that minute we had to have it! Little did we know of the challenges ahead let alone our appalling language skills!
For us it has three big selling points
Location - walking distance of the village
Location - Facing South with views of the Luberon
Location - peace, quiet & privacy.
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
The infinity pool, and our evening drinks by the pool seem very popular where our clients can meet each other and swap stories and enjoy a glass of wine as the sun sets.
