  The Good: Large beautiful home. Has some wear for such a new home but nothing terrible. Has a safe, the master bedroom is caged so for extra security. It's literally on the beach and has nicely kept grounds. The kitchen has everything you could want for cooking. There are 4 beds in total and the decks are spacious. The location is pretty good, there is store towards the Puerto Viejo about a 5 minute walk. There is a school and soccer field that is behind the property so you can hear softly in the background kids play or a whistle being blown. The not so good: I had let the property manager know that we were going to be travelling with my son who is 7 months old and what had attracted me to the property was clean and hot water which is not normally a care of mine. When we showed up the water was not even working, the tour we we're given didn't really give us a clue on how the alarm worked. Unfortunately the first few hours we were there, someone had entered the balcony of a bedroom and stole everything of one of the couples. It was silly of them to leave the sliding door unlocked when they walked to the beach but who would have thought with myself, wife and son in the kitchen that someone would have been daring enough to enter the room within a few hours of us being there. Obviously, now nights were extremely scary for us and what seemed to be a perk of the large windows is now a big flaw as there was a continuous feeling that someone was watching us. A simple solution is blinds or curtains but there are none. The property manager was very responsive and understanding but we didn't get full water pressure or hot water until our last day there. I think when renting any house, there is going to be a risk in this area and you can not let your guard down for a second. I have travelled to Jamaica, Mexico, El Salvador and been here once already. When my wife and I were here we felt very safe previously which is why we went. We were told that there were more of these occasions as people are more desperate. Not to scare anyone from visiting, it is a beautiful location, great local businesses and people but you should not get too comfortable because there is someone probably looking for an opportunity. There was a road next to the property that goes to the beach, at first no big deal but a lot of the locals use it for access to the beach with ATV's, bikes, trucks etc. again being paranoid, can't help watch what they were up to as many would stay there

  Recommended for: Tourists without a car, sightseeing, families with teenagers, adventure seekers.
