Beautiful RetreatGuest comment entered by owner
Our family meets each summer for get togethers. My son Brian found the Boyd Villa this summer. It has been one of the nicest places that we have stayed. Plenty of room and everything you need for a great visit. Some of the family come up from the gulf coast and we go south from Virginia. Ages from 3 to 80 and all of us had a wonderful visit. The bunk room kept the 3 kids happy......they loved their retreat!!!! We also rented the pontoon a few times. It is a beautiful home and we all loved all of our family time there!!! Thanks very much!

Nothing comparesGuest comment entered by owner
We have stayed at the Boyd Villa a few times for a Family Reunion and my husband has used it for his Company's annual working retreat. This year, due to my husband having added employees, he needed a second home in Big Canoe. We told the agent we were renting the Boyd Villa and would like something smaller but comparable. "Well, there really is nothing that compares to the Boyd Villa, but I have....." Wow. Was he right. The second house, while in Big Canoe, was not even in the same league as Boyd Villa. We look forward to staying at Boyd Villa again soon.

My extended family rented the Boyd Villa in August 2013. While I live in Big Canoe, some flew in from Seattle, San Francisco, & Phoenix, while others drove from Virginia, North Carolina, and Ohio. Because they traveled so far, I wanted to make sure they had top-notch accommodations. After hours checking out rentals online, and visiting others in person, I emailed my family and said, there is one clear option that you will love, The Boyd Villa. I told them the rental price and they thought it was very reasonable given how many people can stay at the Villa, and how much more they have paid when staying at hotels. It's even better than a luxury hotel, because our family was able to be all together, in the comfort of an upscale, beautifully decorated home. Our needs were diverse, ranging in age from 2 months, to 10 years, 40 years and 80 years old. I can’t imagine too many rental homes offering the quality accommodations that the Villa offers. You just don’t find this caliber of furniture, bedding, well-stocked kitchen, and thorough cleaning and maintenance that the Boyds offer in their own personal home. It was such a pleasure to see friends and family mingle and relax in the comfort of the Villa. The French doors were open to the fresh air, and the party flowed easily from the comfy, lodge-style living room to the back deck with views of the Lake. We have wonderful memories at the Villa, which feels like part of our family experience now. To make everyone equally happy, most of the bedrooms have very pretty views of sparkling Lake Petit. Other bedrooms had their own charm, such as the 6-bed kids' bunk room. Constant rain was not a problem since the views of the Lake, lovely décor, and our ability to cook homemade meals in the gourmet kitchen made for a great vacation, despite the weather. We enjoyed the Jeep Trail hike with gushing waterfalls (due to so much rain!), murmuring streams, and lush greenery. We rented a pontoon boat in the evening. When the weather improved the kids had fun building sand castles at the beach. Hiking and playtime on the beach and lake are great, but they’re even better when you have a beautiful place to “come home to” afterwards. Big Canoe is wonderful on its own, but the Boyd Villa really elevates your stay to something luxurious and memorable.

Four generation family gathering
Four generation family gathering
Our extended family just spent a week at the Boyd Villa in Big Canoe with four generations present, ranging in age from 2 to 82. I am pleased to say that the descriptions and pictures in the internet listing are accurate. If anything, they don't adequately show how gorgeous the house is and what a wonderfully beautiful view there is from the patios. We were a large group looking for a place where family could gather from VA, OK, LA and FL and where we could all be together as we anticipated our parent's 60th wedding anniversary and spend a week just fellowshipping together and catching up. The Boyd Villa certainly exceeded our expectations. Everything was clean and well maintained and the kitchen was equipped with all the necessary utensils. We enjoyed being able to cook and eat our meals together in the house. Having multiple bathrooms on all three levels was very convenient and having two laundry rooms was a plus. The wireless WiFi worked and so those who wanted to stay in touch were able to. We took advantage of the amenities within Big Canoe and enjoyed swimming, canoeing, boating in the pontoon boats on the lake, hiking and visitng the children's play ground -- all without leaving the Big Canoe community. Beverly was a joy to work with and she checked in by phone during the week to make sure that we were doing ok. We are all very grateful that we found such a great place where we could be together, enjoy the beauty of nature and the peace and quiet and yet have enough activities to keep all entertained. I would certainly recommend this property.

Planning my wedding at Big Canoe and having my family stay at the Boyd Villa was a dream come true! Everything was top notch at the home and my family couldn't stop talking about what a lovely home the Boyd's have. Dealing with the owner, Beverly, was so pleasant as she was so helpful and prompt with all my needs and questions. The house was very accommodating as everyone had their own room and bathroom. The kitchen was well stocked with anything one could need for cooking. We will all remember and cherish our time together in this special home. Molly & Dewey

We just finished the long drive home to Texas...with each mile reflecting back on our wonderful week at Big Canoe in your beautiful and comfortable villa on Lake Petit. When I asked my two 4 year old grandsons what their favorite thing was about Big Canoe (thinking they would say the rock slide, fishing or the boat ride) they both blurted out "The bunk beds!!". How we all enjoyed your beautifully appointed and tastefully decorated home with room to spare for our growing family. All 4 of the grandchildren piled into the large lower level bath tub for a group bath each evening...such fun! Cooking in your lovely kitchen was not a chore but quite a treat. Harry and I loved the breathtaking view of the lake from your master bedroom as we adjusted the wonderful Tempurpedic bed to the perfect setting. After staying in our home and looking at the many pictures of your attractive family...I do hope we will have the opportunity to meet one day. Thank you so much for sharing your fabulous home with our family...we feel blessed to have been able to gather together in such a lovely setting.

There are not enough peaceful, fabulous, spectacular or extraordinary words in the English language to describe my experience at the Country Villa. To say it was serene and perfect would NOT do it justice. The online photos, while beautiful do NOT adequately describe the beauty and detail of the home. The bedding was WHEW! I've NEVER slept so good. The mattress and the linen were magnificent in their own way. 2 Washers/Dryers, 2 Full Kitchens, The kids' room have two extra beds under the bunk beds. The view of Lake Petit CAN NOT be described by any human on this planet. From this point on, no matter what, there is only ONE home that I will rent in Big Canoe Georgia and that is the Boyd Villa. And last, but certainly not least, the Boyds are real live angels. No doubt about it. I looked in every closet for their extra set of wings, but did not find them. I don't know where they hide them, but i know they have them somewhere. Ms. Beverly sounds like that family member you love to hear talk. EXTREMELY kind and pleasant. I LOVE them. They are part of my family forever. And Mr. Boyd, GOOOOOOO DAWGS...sic 'em! Class of '94!!!!!!

Our family visited the Boyd Villa at Big Canoe July/2008. The house was beautiful with wonderful views. The house was perfect for our family. The golf course was great. The rock slide at the pool and fitness center was exceptional. Everyone enjoyed the hiking as there were different levels ranging from easy to hard. We enjoyed your beautiful and comfortable home. Thanks to Beverly and Jim for a great vacation.

Dear Beverly and Jim: Thanks so much for making your beautiful home available to us for celebration of my parents' 50th wedding anniversary. We had a wonderful time. The house is marvelous, spacious, oh so comfortable. All the furnishings, linens, and kitchen accessories were of excellent quality. The entire weekend was a delight for our large crowd. We had to draw straws taking turns sitting in Jim's chair in the family room. My 90-year-old grandmother is very very picky . . . her comment on inspecting your home was "Hmmmph! These people don't miss a trick!" High praise from Nanny. Thanks again. Josie & the rest of the Redwines
