Wonderful townhouse in exclusive gated community on unspoiled Eastern Shore
Welcome to the best kept secret at Lake Tahoe: the historic and private and gated community of Glenbrook. This scenic, safe and serene area has a beautiful mile long private beach, a 9 hole golf course and restaurant, meadows full of wild flowers and direct access to wonderful hiking trails.
Our 1800 sq foot townhouse is nestled at the top of a large alpine meadow with sweeping lake views from the large deck, dining room, living room and 2 of 3 bedrooms. It is quiet and sunny, perfect for getting away from it all and enjoying Lake Tahoe.
The master bedroom has a king bed, private balcony with views of Lake Tahoe, extra large closet, and private bathroom. The two additional bedrooms have 2 twin beds each and a shared bathroom, with tub and shower, plus spacious closets. All beds have cozy comforters and extra pillows.
The living room has a wood burning fireplace, gaming table and stylish retro furniture, very sunny. The dining room can accommodate 8 – 12 for dinner, and in warm months, the spacious deck is perfect for dining outdoors. The kitchen is fully equipped and roomy.
In the summer months the calm bay of Glenbrook and beautiful sandy private beach is perfect for swimming, sunbathing and boating. The beach is never crowded, and is just a 1 minute drive, 5 minute bike ride, or 10 minute walk from our place. There are many boat and jet ski rentals available at Zephyr Cove just 10 minutes away.
The rental includes a guest membership at the historic Glenbrook Golf Club, use of the 9 hole golf course in Glenbrook, open during summer and fall. You also have use of the snack bar and fine dining restaurant for lunch and dinner, in the summer months. Tennis courts are also available seasonally for use for a rental fee.
Glenbrook is ideal for walking, hiking, biking and getting around by golf cart, as there is minimal traffic and many paths. The Tahoe Rim Trail and many National Forest Service trails are accessible, some on foot right from your front door.
In the winter you have access to many ski resorts, including Squaw Valley, Northstar, Heavenly Valley, Alpine Meadows and Kirkwood. The Spooner Lake Cross Country resort is just up the hill. The best sledding hill in Glenbrook is right at the end of our road.
For entertainment, fine dining, shopping or gambling, you can visit South Lake Tahoe which is only 20 minutes away. A 24 hour Safeway is just 15 minutes from our place.
The Reno airport is a 60 minute drive, Sacramento is under 2 hours and the Bay Area is 4 hours by car.
Glenbrook is the oldest settlement on Lake Tahoe, and is a former vacation spot of Mark Twain. Glenbrook is comprised of 750 acres with only 150 acres developed. Once you drive through the front gate off Highway 50, you’ve entered one of the most prestigious and pristine locations on the shore of Lake Tahoe.
We have enjoyed many years of family weekends and vacations, and have shared our place with friends and family. It is ideal for children of any age.

We spent a week at this very comfortable home over Thanksgiving in 2012 and had a wonderful time. We were blessed with great weather. From the home you have a delightful view of the meadow, Lake Tahoe, and the mountains on the California side of the lake. This is a very peaceful time of the year at Glenbrook and is very relaxing.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Glenbrook really is the best kept secret in Tahoe. There is no beach as beautiful and because it's on the East Shore, it's sunny until late in the evening. And there is no deck as perfect as this one to watch the sunset, drink in hand. The description of the condo and the photos are exactly what you find: totally comfortable, quiet, and relaxing. I suggest you grocery shop on the way in because once you arrive, you never want to leave. Hiking in the area is superb; China Meadows and Shakespeare Rock should not be missed. Glenbrook is as beautiful in spring and fall as it is in summer and this place provides a great refuge in any season.Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with teenagers, adventure seekers.

We stayed here for Thanksgiving week with our extended family and had an amazing week. The house was easily able to accomodate 8 of us over three generations and we were able to cook our entire Thanksgiving meal in the kitchen which opens up to a large dining room. The wood burning fireplace was a fabulous touch. We enjoyed exploring the area with lots of walks, visit to the beach which looks like a perfect spot in the summer and even were able to ski both Heavenly and Squaw. If you cross country ski there are also areas very nearby. We highly recommend it and look forward to returning.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers, families with young children.
