A Gem on the Beach
A Gem on the Beach
My husband and I recently stayed at Casa O'Malley with our two adult sons and their wives. We could not have asked for anything more perfect than Casa O'Malley! The location is incredible - right on the beach - so the views from the patio are amazingly beautiful! The patio is shaded and cool breezes kept us refreshed at all times. The pool is wonderful for relaxing anytime. The house is attractively and comfortably decorated and has everything you will need for cooking, etc., including a great grill on the patio. Everything is immaculate and attended to each day by a very efficient housekeeping couple. Casa O'Malley is so convenient to town - just a short 10 minute walk on the beach takes you to the restaurants or shops in Tamarindo. Donna, the manager, could not be any more helpful and provided us with excellent recommendations and reservations for a variety of activities. In short, staying at Casa O'Malley is like having your own personal resort - it is fantastic in every way! I would highly recommend this property and hope to return next year!

Great Beach House!
Great Beach House!
The house is in a great location--right on a fantastic beach yet no crowds! This is a great surfing beach yet super safe and easy to swim in. Walking distance to everything you need. The house and grounds are spotless and maintained daily. The pool area has a shaded canopy which makes it comfortable for lounging any time of the day. It also appears to be home to a troup of monkeys who provided us with entertainment. Donna, the house manager, was fantastic and made arrangements for several activities. We could not be happier with this house!

Paradise in Costa Rica
Paradise in Costa Rica
Hard to describe this house because there's SO much to rave about. It's beautiful, extremely well maintained, reasonably priced, within walking distance to everything you need, includes all the equipment you need to enjoy the beach right outside your gate, and the manager, Donna, is incredibly helpful. Donna arranged all of our shuttles, all of our excursion/activities, fabulous caterers to cook for us, and got us lower prices along with the best tour guides. We didn't bother renting a vehicle because we could walk for everything we needed (on that fabulous beach!) or take a quick cab ride to bring home a bunch of groceries. We are so glad that we chose this location and this house --- they are the definition of "hidden gems". Thank you, Donna, for an unbelievable hoiday in paradise. We can't wait to come back!

Fantastic location and property
Fantastic location and property
Our family of 4 (daughters age 22 and 24) stayed at Casa O'Malley over New Year's week and had a fabulous time. The comment I heard time and again was this was alot better than they expected. Donna arranged for our transportation to and from the airport and a stop on the way into town to get groceries before we got to the house, everything went smoothly. The house, garden and outdoor living areas were wonderful, with plenty of room for us to spread out in. Loved the pool area in back covered by trees where we watched the monkeys and iguanas almost everyday. The location was perfect for us. This was a busy time in Tamarindo, but we were able to enjoy the beach and the ocean right in front of our house with relative privacy! We could swim, sun, boogie board and surf just by walking out our back door. Having Elmer and Carmen there to clean the pool, yard, house and do laundry was a wonderful bonus! Makes it much more of a vacation for everyone!! We also loved the fact that we had wireless so we could keep in touch with people back home and could get ESPN so we could watch the NDSU Bison win the FCS National Football Championship!!! A little boogie boarding at halftime added to the fun! Would highly recommend this property for anyone wanting a little more privacy but still could take a 10 minute walk and be in the center of Tamarindo. Would go back here in a heartbeat!

Best location on the beach
Best location on the beach
My friend and I stayed at Casa O'Malley for 5 days in mid-June and it was wonderful. Having been to Tamarindo several times in the past, I knew that this location couldn't be beat. It's the best spot for swimming in the ocean on the entire beach and an easy walk to the estuary at the other end of the beach and to the shops and restaurants along the way. This part of Tamarindo is considered the quiet section with all the action just a few minutes away. Upon our arrival, we were met by Donna, the property manager and Elmer, the gardener. Donna (an Engish speaking American) was very thorough in explaining all that we needed to know about the house. Elmer and Carmen, the maid, were extremely pleasant and as helpful as they could be. (Their English is about as good as my Spanish - not so good!) The grounds are beautifully kept and very private. Sitting on the beach front patio, watching the surfers and/or listening to the surf was so-o-o relaxing. The interior accommodations are comfortable and very roomy. Three couples or a family would have plenty of room without feeling like they are "on top of each other".The kitchen is very well-stocked. There was plenty of seating around the pool area and chairs and beach towels and boogie boards to take to the beach itself. We couldn't have picked any better place to stay. Our only complaint is that we couldn't stay longer. This house is the epitome of Pura Vida! Recommendations: Breakfast: Nogui's on the circle, Witch's Rock at the far end of the beach, Kahiki - a short walk from the house (on the road to Langosta). For Costa Rican coffee to drink and purchase: Cafe Tico, next to the book store between Super 2001 (good source for groceries) and the Agua Rica store (on Langosta Road) Sunset cocktails on the patio at The Diria Hotel Dinner: Nibbana, Copacabana and Bambu (sushi) all in the area where the roads make a T. All meals at these restaurants have been delicious. For stocking up at the grocery, go to the Auto Mercato in the shopping center on your left side on the way in to town from the airport. (Some items can be very pricey so watch your prices.)
