  Where do I begin... I work as an interior designer and have to admit that I am quite picky. I often am disappointed with the vacation homes I have booked for my family in the past. However, I honestly think for the first time EVER, the Windy Gables home exceeded my expectations. The pictures do not do it justice! The home is absolutely charming and everything one would want in a beach house. It is not only tastefully decorated, it is comfortable as well. I don't think I ever wanted for anything when I was there. We have three children ages 22, 15 and 3 and they all had a great time and never had a dull moment. The owners (Jay and Ceci) are AWESOME! They were so accommodating and available to answer all my questions. I know that by writing this review, I may risk not being able to get my future reservation dates but this home is too good not to share. My family is already dreaming of how soon we can go back!

  Just spent a long weekend at this beautiful home on the beach with my sister and her family from Boston. It was bigger than it seemed from the pictures and perfect for our 5 teenagers and us four adults! We had everything we needed, great communication with Ceci and Jay, big kitchen, extra big dining room, we all loved the fabulous outdoor space and especially hanging out on the deck from the master bedroom! Can't wait to go back!!

  This was my first VRBO experience and I didn't really know what to expect, but Jay and Ceci made it as painless and easy as possible. There was very open and speedy communication via email and phone, and all my questions were answered, most before I even asked because they do such a great job of preparing you for your stay. I admit that I have the bad habit of skimming over e-mails sometimes and sent a few replies with questions about parking and WiFi; Jay quickly replied to both, but kindly pointed out that he had included that information in the previous email (Sorry Jay haha). Again, just speaks to them really preparing you for your stay, which is something I really appreciated as a first time renter. Now for the home. WOW!!! The pictures really don't do it justice, it is a real gem. The decor didn't scream 'vacation beach house' to me, or at least my idea of what that is, which is something I loved about it. It felt more like a home, like I had grown up there my whole life. Hardwood floors, stained glass windows, shabby chic accents added to that feeling, and some more modern elements like a flat screen TV and all stainless appliances made me want to move in and never leave. If you are sharing the house with family, make sure to pay extra so you can justify claiming the master bedroom. It has a little balcony overlooking the beach and the water, truly breathtaking. Also, leaving the sliding glass door cracked through the night makes for one amazing breeze, and the light sound of waves crashing will ensure you sleep like a baby. I wasn't lucky enough to get the master suite during my stay, but am looking forward to my return to the Windy Gables. I am grateful that Jay and Ceci opened their home to renters, and for making it an overall amazing experience. I live 45 minutes away and never knew that a relaxing weekend was so close. It is definitely a place to unwind and recharge from the hustle and bustle of big city life. I am torn though, because writing this review would most likely mean less availability for future dates...so put me on the waiting list!!!! This place is really worth waiting for.

• Wonderful Vacation!

  Our family along with another family stayed at Windy Gables for a week. We had a great time! The owners were easy to work with and were very kind and accomodating. The place was clean, updated, and furnished very nicely. I was impressed with all the details that had been given to the home in order for it to be both beautiful and comfortable. We were able to relax and have a good time without having to worry about the kids ruining or breaking something. The house had everything you could possibly need or want to make your stay fun and enjoyable. The beach is beautiful! Our kids enjoyed collecting shells and sand dollars and seeing dolphins, sea lions, jellyfish, and more on the beach. We enjoyed our vacation at Windy Gables and we hope we can return there one day!

  This was such an amazing house! Plenty of room for the whole family. We had multiple families with school age children. The adults enjoyed drinking wine on the beachfront deck while the kids played on the sand with not a worry or care. This house is beautiful on the inside and out, but comfortable so you immediately relax and enjoy all of what the beach has to offer. We have seen and stayed in alot of other beachfront rentals in the Oxnard/Ventura area. This is the best one! It's location to resteraunts, the marina, farmers market can't be beat. Everything is just a couple blocks away. We never used the car once we got there. The first floor is a wonderful entertaining/gathering area. Perfect for cooking at home and watching the sunset in your own piece paradise. The only problem we had was regretting that we didn't book more time. You will not be dissappointed!
