  We certainly enjoyed our time at the ocean front retreat. The location is outstanding. We spent many an hour simply watching and listening to the waves roll in. As well, the retreat was very clean and well equipped and only about a 10 minute walk to " downtown " Ocean Beach. All of the attractions in the San Diego area that we wished to visit were a short drive from the retreat,which was an added bonus. Also, the description and pictures of the retreat are exactly as presented. The owners of the retreat are very helpful and a pleasure to work with----everything from booking the property to meeting us upon our arrival to returning our damage deposit couldn't have been any better. As I look out the window of my house and see the snow laying on the ground I dream of returning to a warmer location and the ocean front retreat would fit my needs perfectly. Obviously, I would highly recommend the ocean front retreat to any potential renters.

  Lisa and Tom have a beautiful home to rent. The house was perfect for our family. The location was central for our activities in and around San Diego.

  Lisa and Tom, Thank you so much for the great beach house! It was a perfect getaway. It was so close to many things...fun things. We had a great time. I loved the beach. You guys have made a very warm and nice home. The view of the beach was beautiful. If we ever come back to San Diego we will stay at the Beach Retreat again!!

  I just want to thank you for the amazing time we had at your wonderful cabana-by-the-sea. We loved the fun way you have it decorated. The overall ambience made us feel relaxed and at peace..like everything is right in the world. We usually stay in hotels or B & B's, but it was perfect having a home away from home where we had a perfect kitchen to prepare fun meals, had an awesome HUGE patio where we could sit and watch the waves and sunsets every evening. Just so easy and relaxing. We didn't really need the extra bedroom this time, but we are seriously thinking of bringing our kids with us next year. They would love it here. Thank you, Lisa, for being so responsive when we had questions about the area and how to make the most of our trip. You are the Best. See you next year, we hope!

  I will start by saying that we learned so much from this trip. We loved the ocean views of our condo we rented, but I will say the pictures are nothing like being there in person. When we arrive to #41194, on April 14, 2013, the condo smelled very musty! Like it had not been cleaned in a while, even though I was charged a cleaning fee, I did not reap the benefits of a clean place to stay! The beach chairs, and items listed that that we could use, were stored in a closet next to the front door were so rusty and old and dirty, I was afraid to use them because if they broke, I might get charged for them. We chose to sit on our towels. The condo had so much dust especially on the surf board above the master bedroom bed, that it threw my husband into a allergy attack. There was so much stuff like old dried roses from the 80"s on the wall that collected dust, puppets on the wall as well as many, many other items.The master bedroom conforter was stained as well. The family room was uncomfortable as well. One thing that really bothered me was the false advertising of the BBQ. The web-site shows a nice cement patio table with a built in BBQ. Well, it's actually on the opposite unit from where we were renting, so because there were guests in that unit using on the night we wanted to BBQ, we did not. Their were many chipped plates and cups, that I took pictures of them all in case it would come out of my deposit.The icing on the cake is the phone call I got from the owner the day we arrived. She ask if we could turn on the humidifyer for 2 hours a day, then turn it off, and then dump the water. I said, I'm leaving now and will not be here in 2 hours. She said just leave it on then. Well, that was it, give me a chore to maintain your property, give me a dirty condo to sleep in the next 5 nights, that was the final straw!! We left all day, every day so as to help my husband with his allergys, but had I not paid in advance, I would have booked a room at the Coronado. Next time, I'm going there!!!

  Owner response: This review was posted by a very negative individual who, sadly, chose to dwell on any negative thing she could find. She chose not to enjoy the sunsets, the pelicans, the dolphins, the seals, the beautiful sound of the ocean. We feel bad that her stay wasn't perfect for her as we strive to make all of our renters happy. Please spend your time reading all of the positive reviews we have been given over the years. We wish nothing but the best for this person and hope she finds peace in her life. Nothing we would have done could have helped this poor soul enjoy her time. We live 2 miles away and are always available to help. Why didn't she inform us of her concerns? Again, please read all of our other reviews to help you with your decision. Tom and Lisa Hoyer

  I listened to other reviewers and booked this condo for a 4 night trip to San Diego with my parents. It was better than I expected! Upon arriving, it was apparent the owners really put their heart into decorating the place to make it feel like a "home away from home." Everything we needed was there. The pictures were accurate, but really don't do this place justice.. it was clean and absolutely beautiful! We all reflected on how relaxing, peaceful and quiet the place was- just what we were hoping for! It's just a few blocks away from the little "downtown" area of Ocean Beach where there are restaurants, shopping and great people watching, but far enough away to be quiet and secluded. The best part, though, was the ocean view right outside the back door. Just amazing!!! Every morning we had our coffee on the back patio and watched boats go by. Listening to the ocean waves was so peaceful. We will definitely be back soon!!

  We were so pleased to arrive at the condo and discover this beautiful home with the awesome view of the Pacific Ocean. Your property exceeded our expectations. The photos do not do it justice. We thoroughly enjoyed the location which allowed us to walk to the beach and to the strand to enjoy the various restaurants. We want to thank you for all the little touches that made it so welcoming. P.S. The bed was truly the most comfortable ever!

  We had a great time in this condo and the owners were great to deal with. For those unfamiliar with San Diego, Ocean Beach is a bit more "eclectic" than some other areas. This condo sits to the South of the beach so it was nice and quiet. We had a great time out on the patio. I would actually give the home 4 1/2 stars - off for a slightly small and creaky master bed. However... the condo was very well equipped. We had everything we needed and more! Parking was not an issue (as someone had suggested in a previous post). There is outdoor parking reserved behind condo which is where we parked our SUV. The garage is small, but my nephew was able to park his compact there while we were having dinner. We didn't need it, but there is also a washer and dryer in the garage. Thanks Lisa and Tom!

  This place is beautiful and must be seen to believe. The property sits on a cliff overlooking the ocean and the sunsets are amazing. When I talked to the owner about the property before booking, she was very helpful and accurate. Everything she told me was just as described. Pictures of the property are relevant and the property is VERY well maintained and clean. I would absolutely stay here again and would strongly recommend this place for anyone wanting to relax. There are two other hard to believe things about the property owner people should know. First, when I told her this was an engagement trip and asked her to help me get champagne into the property beforehand, she happily agreed. I asked her to do whatever she felt appropriate and I would pay her back. She had two dozen roses, a bottle of champagne with two very cool glasses, and chocolate covered strawberries at the property when we arrived. She did all this for $100 (if you've purchased roses you know she did very well from a cost perspective so she didn't abuse the latitude I gave her) and my fiance loved it. Well done and THANK YOU Lisa!! Second, we had some very minor feedback for her regarding the property at the end of the trip and she received it very well. If you stay here, I guarantee you will not be disappointed with the property or level of service you receive from Lisa.

  This was our first trip to California as a family and it was wonderful. The condo was perfect for the three of us. My parents stopped by for a couple of days, and there was plenty of room for all of us. The condo was spacious, and very clean. They also had everything you could imagine. We have a toddler and there were toys for her, surf boards, beach towels, etc. There was literally everything you would need for a summer vacation. Not to mention the beautiful view. Our first trop to California was awesome and we would love to stay there again!!
