  My husband and I went to Santorini for a week in April 2013 and after searching on the internet, came across this beautiful villa in Exo Gonia, perfect for us because I did not want to stay in a tourist area. Exo Gonia is very close to everything, in fact nothing is far to get to in Santorini. We got up early 3 mornings to see the sunrise, it was spectacular and worth getting up at 6 for! Three minutes walk from the villa is a fabulous restaurant called Metaximus, definitely worth a visit or two , lovely food and great atmosphere. Santorini is quiet in April as they get ready for the tourist season but it was a photographer's dream for me as there were hardly any people around. We hired a car and went just about everywhere and saw just about everything there was to see. Jon, the owner of the villa, is a wonderful host and collected us from the airport, he had also already arranged a hire car for us from the airport so we followed him back to the house. There was a lovely welcome package of bread,cheese, fruit, water and a bottle of wine waiting for us, compliments of Jon! The internet was fantastic, great speed, good TV channels, plenty of bedding/linens/towels etc. Jon knew it was my birthday and when we went to Metaximus he had pre-ordered a lovely birthday cake with sparklers for me, a lovely personal touch, thank you Jon. The next day Jon took us for a local mini sightseeing tour so we could get our bearings and he was very knowledgeable as to where we should go during our stay. The villa itself is deceptively big, good closet space and great sized bathrooms, the bed was very comfortable and thankfully there were plenty of blankets as it is pretty cold at night in Santorini in April. Jon also took us to his other villa which is quite extraordinary, it's an old winery that he has made into a lovely holiday rental house, great for larger groups, and we met his lovely cat Mini :) Thank you Jon for your extensive hospitality, take care of yourself and keep in touch!

  Coming from landlocked South Dakota, US, we were searching for a spot surrounded by the water. This was the perfect destination for our summer trip. The cavern is absolutely incredible. Every room is exquisite, offering a unique and beautiful stay. Jon's art was the perfect touch! The views are stunning from the front room, one of the bedrooms and the pool. The terrace was brilliant for dining and the pool was so great after spending the days at the beach or sightseeing. We could not have asked for a more picturesque place to stay. Jon was the most accommodating host we have ever met. He picked us up from the airport and took us into town (even though we had rented a car) to buy groceries. He also provided a few snacks and a bottle of wine. He gave us a number of great recommendations for restaurants. One of his recommendations was extremely close - walkable. We had a great experience there as well. Jon set everything up for us; he called ahead and got us a table with the best view. While at dinner Jon even called and had a wine sent to our table! We were absolutely blown away by the beauty of this place and the hospitality of our host. We only wish we could go back over and over. We HIGHLY RECOMMEND this villa!

  We stayed at Art Villa a few days before and after our daughters wedding in Santorini. The villa is a perfect place for a relaxing holiday, with beautiful views and is eqipped with everything you could want. The air conditiong was a bonus in the bedrooms. Jon is a perfect host and met us at the airport with the pre-arranged hire car. Jon took us on his customary view of the island and even bought us lunch! We found nearby Kamari a popular and lovely place to eat at the many outside restaurants by the sea. Nothing was too much trouble for Jon and we fully recommend this villa for a relaxing place to stay.

  My husband and I had a great week at Jon Call's Art Villa this June. We did not want to leave! The photos do not do the house justice; while they are accurate, it is even nicer than shown, and definitely big and private enough for 2 couples. The Art Villa has a lovely pool, beautiful views and is conveniently located for touring the beaches and towns of Santorini. Jon was a perfect host -- he picked us up at the airport, arranged our car rental, and gave us a tour of the island. Jon (a painter and former businessman who has lived in Greece for over 30 years and Santorini for 10 years), recommended restaurants and other attractions for us -- museums, bakeries, galleries -- and all of his recommendations were good. For example, there is an excellent traditional taverna 2 minutes away, right up the hill. Jon recommended it, made reservations for us, and we ate there twice. We recommend the Art Villa wholeheartedly and hope to return.

  If you want to visit Santorini, Jon's Art Villa is the perfect place to stay. My husband and I decided we wanted to visit Santorini for our honeymoon and after searching through hundreds of options, we decided this was the place for us. We wanted a place which wasn't far from the hustle and bustle of the main attractions of the island but that was also quiet and tranquil enough for us to enjoy each others company undisturbed. The villa fits all these criteria and more! It is just a few minutes drive away from some of the best beaches on the island, not far from Oia and Thira and has a fantastic traditional restaurant at 2 minutes walk from the house. The villa is beautiful and fit to a high standard, with great décor. It is private, clean and well-maintained. I'm not surprised that it's already practically fully booked for next Summer! We were due to arrive late in the evening on August 16th and as the villa wouldn't be ready until the following morning, Jon helped us find a place to stay for the first night. Not only that, he had our rental car ready for us at the airport, drove us to the spot and took us out for dinner and beers... We couldn't believe what a fantastic and generous host he was! Jon made our stay in the villa really comfortable, took us for a tour of the best spots of the island, and was always available for advice. The villa is just the right size, you could even stay there with another couple if you wanted to and both couples would still have enough privacy, as the layout if the house is perfect. The pool is perfect for a little plunge every now and again and is great when you get back from the heat of the beaches and want to cool off for the evening. We took Jon's advice and got up to watch the sun rise in front of the villa which was very pretty indeed. We really loved this villa and were very sad to be leaving... thank you Jon from Luisa and Simone for our wonderful stay, maybe we'll see you again some day :)

  Everything was absolutely fine: the island, the villa with it terrace, swimming pool, stereo system with nice music, and of course - what a great view!! We equally enjoyed staying home (laying on the sun beds, swimming in the pool - take maximum of it!) or discovering the island (swimming, climbing the rocks, admire the sunset) It’s both perfectly fit for the jolly company and the united family (which is our case). Do not forget to rent a car. Special thanks to the owner (Jon). He gave us vey useful guide through the island, showed many spots to visit, which made our stay even more remarkable. He was very open and always available for any help. Thank you Jon and hope see you again! Alexander & Julia.

  If you want to enjoy your visit to Santorini, your trip planning should begin by making arrangements to stay in John's villa here in Exo Gonia. The home and host were everything we could have hoped for given the time we spent getting there from our home in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. John was there to get us started right at the port and came to say good bye before we left. we enjoyed a lunch and wine with him which all added to our personal experience there. If your visit date is available on this home, your search should be over. the restaurant up the hill was our favorite on the island and we had three dinners there. after visiting Fira, Perisa, & Oia, we confirmed that you are much better off renting a car and visiting those locations when you want and then enjoying the peace and tranquility of the Art Villa. everything is a short car ride and the sun rises are spectacular.

  just come back from a week at this lovely villa. Jon is a great host - his whistle stop tour of the island is a must! he arranged car hire for us, collected us from the air port, took us back there. provided a welcome pack with essentials, which was much appreciated - especially the local wine! couldnt ask for more. the villa is just gorgeous, probably the best we have stayed in. i did worry the plunge pool would be too small, but its not, its perfect. spent many an afternoon just standing in there with a glass of wine looking out at the view. great taverna within walking distance, literally just up the hill, we ate there 3 nights out of 7 - beware of their Raki though! lethal stuff! i wasnt a fan of nearby Kamari, nothing wrong with it really, just too busy and noisy for my liking, but plenty of choice in bars and restaurants. if you are going to buy wine to drink at the villa - dont buy the bottled stuff - there are a number of supermarkets in kamari that have barrels of local wine and they provide plastic bottles in half, litre and 2 litre sizes that you fill up there. costs around 5 Euro for 2 litres, much cheaper than the bottled stuff we found and just as nice. if you like lager try the Mythos - very drinkable. would highly recommend a visit to Restaurant Raki in Megalochori - great location in the village and the staff and food were excellent. one downside and nothing to do with Jon or the villa - was the diving, my husband said it was very disappointing, not much sea life and grey coral. he only did 2 dives as he was that disappointed with it, but it could just be the areas he was diving that were like that. All in all though, great location, awesome weather, lovely villa = fab holiday! thanks to you Jon x

  The villa was an absolutely stunning place to enjoy our honeymoon. In a great location with beautiful views we could not have asked for more. The villa itself is very tastefully finished with some great artwork by Jon the owner who is on hand to deal with anything you may need to ask of him. He is a pleasure to deal with and gave great advice on places to eat and things to do. he even gave us a quick guided tour of the island so we could find all the spots he recommended. Santo wines just up the road is a must for sunset wine and cheese. Our holiday couldn’t have been better and would thoroughly recommend it, i just wish we were still there!!

  We spent a wonderful week in Santorini in September. Not least thanks to the villa, with all its subtleties and lovingly interior. Although the kitchen appears rather small, we were able to cook great dishes, which had been enjoyed on the cozy terrace. But if you don't want or can not cook, the nearby tavern is worth one's weight in gold, with the tables placed on the village square, honey brandy and a really fine Greek cuisine, although we have always thought that Greek cuisine were not fine at all. Jon, thanks for the great excursions - whether Red Beach, boat ride to the volcano, Oja or Fira - everything was the absolute hit! Necessarily take time to visit the Art Winery: it's old and new at the same time, a lush fragrant garden, great Vinzano and art at its finest - all at once - just incredible! As the villa is decorated in white and clear, you should not be above taking a slap in your hand as a tribute to Jon's work, for your own comfort and due to respect for the following guests.
