The photos are what sold me on the house but they were very deceiving. Many furnishings shown did not exist and most of the furniture was dirty and shabby. The property was not especially clean and I had to sweep the entry and shake dirt out of the entry way rug. The porch was also dirty and I swept it as well and moved plastic sheeting and gardening tools to the side of the house out of site and to the mechanical room. The property was very overgrown with weeds but the management company sent someone to mow which helped. The hot water heater had been turned down and not turned up for our arrival so we had cold baths the first night. The washer did not work properly, it leaked, and a repairman that was supposedly scheduled to fix it never showed up. The master bathroom had a bulb missing and the lighting is very dim. The light fixture overhead in the half bath went out halfway through our stay and never could be fixed which made the light there dim also. A lamp in the living room and one in the TV room shorted out and couldn't be used the whole time. The sofa in the TV room was so broken down it was very uncomfortable to sit and watch TV. There were no other TV's in the house. The kitchen rug was filthy and because the washing machine didn't work properly it couldn't be washed so it was put in the utility room for the duration of the stay. When I complained to the management company I was told "the house is lovely and filled with antiques". We didn't come to Crested Butte to view antiques, we expected to have a comfortable stay in a livable house. Our experience with vacation rentals is extensive (worldwide) and we have never expected perfection but for the price of this location it was very disappointing. We definitely would not recommend this property for a stay in Crested Butte.Owner response: I apologize that you were not happy in the home. I am not sure what furnishings you are talking about that are missing. Other than a few small antiques that were irreplaceable and we thought best not to leave out for renters, the home is the same as the photgraphs. We received a call from the renter on check in day that there were some leaves inside the front door that needed to be swept up. Our staff stated that we would send someone out immediately but were told that it was "okay" and they would take care of it. The home is located in a 35 acre aspen grove so there is no lawn to maintain and the natural setting is what all of our previous renters have loved about the house. I apologize for the hot water setting, it is an electronic system and must have turned itself down. Had we been notified about this we would have had personnel there within 15 minutes. The repairman showed up within 24 hours of the notification that there was a small leak in the washer and it was repaired. The lighting system in the home is a "LiteTouch" system and the bulbs are set at designated wattages for the right look on the artwork which was specified by the lighting designer. I apologize if it was too dim for you. Had we known bright lights were a requirement we could have suggested another property. The lamp that shorted out was immediately removed for safety and to be repaired and a loaner lamp was placed in the home. We feel as though we responded to all of the issues we were notified of as soon as possible and for the ones we weren't notified of I can only offer my apologies. We hope to see you back in Crested Butte soon.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 1994
About the owner: Joya DePasquale was born in Brooklyn, educated in Italy and later attended a famous New York acting conservatory. Eventually she returned to Italy and married and Italian baron. After traveling the world for some time the baroness finally returned to New York. She became passionate for the antique trade and utilized her talents to design interiors for high-profile clients including actor, Richard Dreyfuss.
Why the Owner Chose Crested Butte:
The story of how Joya ultimately found her home in a sleepy Colorado town began with a jaunt to Crested Butte in 1979. A storm stranded her and a friend for five days. On a whim she bought a contemporary stucco home that she remodeled and lived with her children part-time for many years.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
When I wake up in the morning to the birds chirping, the surrounding trees blooming and vivid green colors, I know that I have been blessed to live in a piece of paradise.
