Owner info
Year Purchased: 1994
About the owner: I loved restoring the compound and I really enjoy welcoming guests to it now. In addition, I design landscapes, volunteer with the nearby city of Bandon's park and city tree projects, play the Scottish fiddle with some groups, and totally enjoy being a mom. I grew up in California, but I prefer this wetter ocean/mountain climate. Our dry season (July - September) is a little long for me. I am 52 and have two children who think the compound is a state park! We have a yellow lab who enjoys swims in the ponds and thinks we dug them specially for him. When he camps with us we refer to him as the 'hairy brother'. I studied Landscape Architecture at Cal Poly, SLO, and specialize in restoring historic properties, planning rural landscapes, and designing horse properties. I love music, and the out-doors in many forms, and I really am pleased to share this retreat with others and hear that people have been happy here. Bring your musical instruments along. My friends and I have enjoyed many wonderful outdoor summer jam sessions in the beautiful surroundings on the mountain.
Why the Owner Chose Bandon:
I love the climate- 70-80 degree summer days up here. Quiet when the coast is windy. I have travelled the world and realize how rare it is to see the forested mountains right up to the ocean beach. I love sharing the beauty of this wild coast and having visitors relax and unwind. As a child we camped near hear and I never forgot the amazing feel of the fresh rejuvenation. It is incredibly scenic and private. You can walk the beach and maybe see one other person, then drive 12 miles and enjoy fine dining and world class art, golf, etc.
The Unique Benefits at this Estate:
This mountain compound really is like your own private state park near two really nice lighthouses and two interesting towns.
At the compound you can enjoy the long mowed walking loop through the meadow to the far pond with views to the Pacific, as well as the short, scenic trails in the woods, and numerous lawns and flower gardens.
Also, to visit the nearby organic farms and pick your own produce for your meals is a treat. There is also local natural beef, poultry, fresh tuna, salmon, crab, shrimp, and honey usually available nearby.
The town of Bandon is great for buying fresh fish, shrimp, and crabbing off the dock (they will clean and cook it) for meals, and it has a REAL BOOKSTORE! It also has great restaurants, art galleries, an amazing museum, marina, and shopping. Of course, there is the world class golf course, Bandon Dunes, and the local 9 holes at the Old Bandon Golf Links on the Beach Loop Scenic Drive, as well as the nearby Bandon Crossings Golf Course.
The property is near a lot of neat stuff to do and eat!
