The Country Cabin is surrounded by a lush, diverse forest, with year round spring fed streams meandering throughout this bountiful forest. The water for the house actually comes from these same natural springs deep in the earth. There are also so many great lakes locally to explore only minutes away and you have an amazing view of the crystal clean Lamoille River flowing across the road. We are conveniently located on a paved road just outside of the township of Hardwick so access is easy even in the snowiest of winter blizzards.
Renovations are now complete on the country cabin, so everything is brand new from the LCD TV on the wall to the 600 thread count sheets on the king sized bed you will be sleeping on. This includes all kitchen amenities dishwasher, front loading W/D, refrigerator, and most everything else. The only things that aren’t brand new here are the antiques. The Country Cabin also has a gas fireplace. After an active day outdoors, the view of the forest surrounding you, the river rushing across the road, the pine ceiling, the oak hardwood floors, the fireplace and a glass of your favorite wine or beverage! The tension just melts away… ahhhh!
If you miss the Autumn in Vermont you will certainly Enjoy the Apple and Cherry trees, or pick some of the wild raspberries or blueberries we have planted. Lilacs and flowers are growing everywhere.
Looking to connect with nature? This is the place to do it. There are white tail deer trails in the back 40 acres. You will also most likely see some wild turkey’s, rabbits, maybe even a moose or bald eagle! Wildlife has made a huge come back in the Northeast Kingdom in the past few years, so much that moose and wild turkey hunting permits are now offered. We are thriving up here! The loon population has been steadily increasing as well. For a unique experience, be sure to visit the nearby Elk Farm or local wineries.
Autumn in Vermont is the best place in the world to see the fall colors as well as all kinds of birds and wildlife.
There are about 5 large ski resorts locally with in about 25-45 minutes. Many other outdoor activities also exist like the many trails everywhere: hiking, skiing, biking, snowmobiling, sledding, and hunting. We also have golf, boating, fishing, swimming, sculling, four wheeling, and sailing. The Von Trapp family (the inspiration for the Sound of Music) loved the Northeast Kingdom so much they settled here close by in Stowe, great skiing there! Be sure to check out the Ben and Jerry’s Ice Cream Factory is there too!
In the mood for a little French flavor? Canada is close too. It’s amazing how much a difference in language can make you feel like you’re in a whole different part of the world! Quebec has a very European feeling only about 30min drive away. Montreal is only about 2.5hrs away as is Boston, but there are also many great places to eat locally.
