Western Mountain Lodge on River and Close to Stratton
- Minimum stay:3-7 nights
- Internet:Yes
- Pets allowed:No
- Wheel chair accessible:Yes
All season mountain lodge with spectacular river views and close to Stratton. The house has four master suites all with their own baths, plus a magnificent great room, den, loft, large kitchen with island, and dining room that seats 12. The lodge was built in 2012 by the Wadsworth Company, and designed with noted Montana builder Highline Partners, to inspire guests with one of a kind mountain and river views, relaxation, outdoor activity, and intimate time with family and friends.
There are 5 areas for gathering: the great room with grand lodge fireplace, the den with fireplace, HDTV, and XBox, the loft with reading area and 6 person card table, the kitchen with large island and wet bar, and the porch with comfortable couch and chairs overlooking the river. The bedrooms are as follows:
Log Cabin Room (1 king bed)
First floor bedroom designed as an elegant and cozy log cabin with a two person soaking tub and view of scenic on West River. En suite bathroom with double sinks, soaking tub, and rain shower. There is plenty of room to add one of the lodge's fold out beds.
River Room (1 king bed)
Second floor bedroom designed as the master suite with a spectacular view of the West River and Ball Mountain. En suite bathroom with two person soaking tub overlooking river, twin sinks, and double rain shower.
Mountain Room (1 Queen, 1 XL twin)
Second floor bedroom designed as a mountain cabin with a rustic bunk bed with queen on the bottom and XL twin on top. En suite bathroom with double sinks, and large rain shower. There is plenty of room to add one or two of the lodge's fold out beds.
Trout Room (1 Queen)
Second floor bedroom designed after a fly-fishing lodge with vintage fly-fishing gear and river front view. En suite bathroom with large rain shower. There is plenty of room to add one of the lodge's fold out beds.
Additional Beds (1 queen + 2 single beds)
The house also includes two foldable single beds and one queen blow up mattress. The single beds are perfect to add to the Mountain Room to make it a 5 person bunk room, or to add a bed to any of the other bedrooms. Put the queen mattress in the den to make it a fifth bedroom, with its own bathroom on the first floor.
The house is an all season retreat with Stratton’s award winning skiing and golf course 7 miles away. Mt. Snow is 15 miles away and Bromley Mountain is 17 miles. The island has miles of trails for snowshoeing and cross country skiing in the winter, and hiking and mountain biking during the fall and summer. You are steps from fishing for salmon and trout, and swimming during the summer. Enjoy the barbeque and a fire pit for roasting marshmallows and telling stories. Jamaica State Park is 1 mile away with extensive hiking, biking, snowshoe, and cross country skiing trails.
The house is located on a 100 acre private island on the West River, which only has two other homes, and is accessed by a scenic covered bridge.
When you are at Dreamcatcher Lodge you are transported to a rustic mountain retreat that embodies the grand mountain homes of Montana, Colorado, and Wyoming, yet is only 3.5 hours from New York, and 2.5 hours from Boston.
Each room has been uniquely designed with a theme that has been achieved by a western architect and interior designer. The great room is framed with massive windows overlooking the river and a grand lodge fireplace, family sitting area, and chess table. The construction of the house embraces reclaimed material, using beams from old barns, antique white oak flooring, Douglas fir siding from old factories, and railings that came out of a 1800’s Victorian hotel.
The house is 1 mile from the town of Jamaica. Jamaica is a charming Vermont town with two excellent restaurants (Astas and Three Mountain Inn), three bed and breakfasts (Jamaica House, Astas, and Three Mountain Inn), craft and antique shops, coffee shop (Jamaica Coffee House), and market (D&K Market) with fresh baked goods and everything you need.
If you are looking to plan a Stratton wedding or a Vermont wedding in the mountains, Dreamcatcher Lodge provides a magical riverfront location.
Children are welcome. Keep in mind that the lodge is appointed with fine furniture and art, so supervision is suggested. Also keep in mind that the lodge is located on a river, so children should not play by the river unsupervised.
Spa and massage services are available by appointment.

A group of friends and I visited the Dreamcatcher Lodge in late April for a "boys weekend." A pithy review cannot adequately describe the quality of the facilities. The house was immaculate and the photos downplay the quality of the home. The owner was friendly, responsive, and helpful. The property manager, Chris, was also excellent. Here were our favorites: 1) The den's monstrous fireplace was perfect for a few hours of quiet reading. Large, soft couches were arranged perfectly. 2) The facilities in the kitchen were the best I have ever used. I was able to prepare meals for 10 with plenty of space and a restaurant-quality stovetop. 3) We didn't use the double-wide tubs, but might in the future if the wives and girlfriends see the pictures. This is a special place - we'll be back soon.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

I traveled to the Dreamcatcher with a group of my good friends. We were looking for a relaxing weekend away, where we also had the option to ski. We showed up on friday and the house was in perfect condition and absolutely breathtaking. These photos can't do it justice. The house was stocked with enough wood for the fire and everything else one would need. We had a great time cooking dinners and playing board games during the evening and enjoying Stratton (approx 15 min drive) during the day. Jeremy was easy to work with and extremely attentive to our many questions. We definitely hope to be able to return and experience VT in the spring or summer!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

This home was magical! We were three families with 6 teenagers among us. There was plenty of room to spread out, and when we were all together eating or playing cards we had ample seating to be comfortable. The house is spectacular inside and outside, wth stunning views of the river that runs behind it. Everything that we needed was provided in the kitchen and bathrooms, so all that we needed to bring was our clothing, food and drinks. The home is on an island with two other homes, and there was lots of open space around the homes with hiking trails winding through the woods. The home was well stocked with snow shoes and poles so that we could explore the trails. It was very convenient to both Stratton Mountain and Mount Snow, and there is a small town very close with a good market. Our families would stay here again in a heartbeat!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, romantic getaway.

We rented this beautiful home for our annual company retreat a few weeks ago. It was a perfect place for us to gather, plan, celebrate and enjoy the outstanding surroundings (both inside and outside the house). The owners have spared no detail to make this house a truly magnificent place to be. We enjoyed whole-group conversations by the fire in the great room under a massive antler chandelier, and had breakout session in the cozy den and upstairs in the loft. The gourmet kitchen and massive dining table accommodated some great meals created by multiple chefs all working in unison to put huge meals on the table. The owner was extremely helpful and accomodating. We use VRBO a lot to plan meetings, and I have to say this is the first place where the photos do not do the place justice - we were all wow'ed! Highly recommended for a business retreat, and can't wait to come back.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

Dreamcatcher lodge lives up to its name. The experience We stayed at Dreamcatcher with our two children (ages 9+7) and another family. This success of the design of the house is its range. We could gather as a group for dinner and game playing in the main room, but adults could steal off for naps or the kids could slip away for adventures inside or out (or watching a movie in the den). We all can’t wait to return. The house This is an exquisitely designed home that balances tasteful luxury with the traditions appropriate for the rustic, riverside setting. This place is a work of art! The owners created the house with wood from salvaged barns. Every detail has been thought through, from sound system to the lighting that highlights the beautiful old beams. Dreamcatcher enjoys comfortable couches, numerous fireplaces, a fully outfitted modern kitchen, a grand main room and many private nooks. The location Dreamcatcher is just over a covered bridge on an island just minutes from quaint downtown Jamaica. Despite the town’s small size, it has the all the necessary shops from a grocery store to a coffee shop. Stratton Mountain is an easy 10-15 minutes drive away.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

We stayed at the Dreamcatcher for 3 nights and found it to be a great getaway with the perfect balance between amenities (surround sound/new everything) and outdoorsy/rustic touches (firepit/great room). The house is amazingly appointed and you can tell Jeremy spent a lot of time thinking of every detail. It has 4 large bedrooms with full bathrooms for each, so it was a great place for 4 couples to get together at for a weekend. One thing to note, the river was not very high when we visited, but there are a few swimming holes within ~5 miles of the house. This house would be even better in the winter given its proximity to Stratton. Everyone in my group already wants me to start planning our next trip to the dreamcatcher.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children.

Our group of 6 kids and 6 adults recently stayed at the The Dream Catcher House for a weekend. Everyone loved the beautiful Montana style home, especially the kids! They spent the entire weekend along the river and in the man-made pool carved into the riverbank. The decks in the front and back were great for watching the sunset. Chris, the property manager was very helpfully in showing us around the property and the owners could not have been nicer or more accommodating. I would highly recommend this home for and family gathering. We look forward to our next stay.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children.
