Secluded 1.7 miles off the main road with the nearest neighbor across the bay my wife & I have enjoyed this beautiful cabin with 2200 feet of shore line for up to three week stays during May & June over the last five years. Fishing for northern pike is great from the bench on the end of the 95 foot dock. With a wide stable boat included with the cabin, equipped with a 25 hp rock / stump hopper protected & electric trolling motors, walleye, smallmouth & largemouth bass hot spots are easily accessible. Wildlife is all around the cabin and ranges from a rare black bear visiting to roll in the surrounding grass meadows, deer on the salt lick, numerous birds on the big sunflower seed feeder, humming birds on feeders just outside the windows, woodchucks appropriately nesting under the huge side-less two car garage filled with firewood from the surrounding private 40 acres , chip monks & squirrels scampering around the deck surrounding two sides of the cabin or under the bird feeder to beavers routinely gnawing at dusk on the saplings left bridging the dock & a big rock and the occasional eagle. The cabin's many windows make for a bright natural light setting & offer a great view of the lake & sunsets from its perch on a hill. While we have used the AC on the rare occasion in early June the wood stove is fired up regularly in the mornings. Located at the end of the bay boat traffic is limited to those quietly fishing. Complimenting a very private location, the cabin has every amenity you could want and more than you will use. The owner has a great attitude, "The cabin is all yours when you rent it and you will not be disturbed". He is a gracious host & very responsive to your needs. When the stereo system's sub woofer blew out it was replaced the next day. Suggestions for a new shower head & mattress were implemented. Running low on saplings to feed the beavers, the owner cut more and dragged them back to the cabin with his tractor. A more accommodating owner, who doesn't nickel & dime you, you will not find. While the owner rents the cabin the feeling is more like he is sharing it with you and the monetary aspect is secondary. Trails End is a beautiful private place to fish & just enjoy nature's beauty while being very reasonably priced. We look forward to returning to Trails End.

There were 7 of us from the Twin Cities (3 couples plus my little brother) who decided to head up to Ely and have a relaxing New Year's celebration. We stayed for three nights and had a great time! We went cross country skiing, shopped in Ely, ice fishing, and even managed to go out and enjoy the night life in Ely! But those reading this most likely know that Ely is an incredible place, so I will just skip ahead and give you my thoughts on the house... Everything you need to cook a fantastic meal is there. All the kitchenware was clean and ready to go.... The wood burning stove kept the house warm and toasty even when the temperature got down to -25 degrees... We brought ice fishing gear, but the owner still offered us up his to use (rare for a fisherman to do!!)... the owner has an incredible fire pit overlooking the lake. And yes, I said it was -25 degrees out but that didn't stop us from standing outside next to the fire... I have to respectfully disagree with a previous post about the cleanliness of the house. We showed up and it was very clean and we instantly felt right at home... Everyone said their beds were nice and comfortable.... I had forgotten to ask the owner a few things about the house and had to call him a few times that weekend. He always took the time to answer any questions. You could tell he really wanted us to enjoy his place... We saw deer, fox, all kinds of birds and a pack of wolves! We were all speechless when we saw the pack run across the yard to chase some deer. A sight I won't soon forget!... The price was great. To be honest I thought it was a under-priced, so be sure to book it soon before the owner figures it out.... As I said before there were 7 of us in the house and there was plenty of room. Some of the ladies though the single bathroom might cause a bottleneck, but it ended up working out just fine! I hope this helps. I really can't think of any negatives with this place because we had such a good time. I just hope it is a little warmer next winter when we visit :-)

We had a great time at this rental property! Owner was very helpful with questions regarding the cabin and very generous with his fishing materials . Only negative was it wasn't as clean and clutter free as we would have liked, especially since there is a $60.00 cleaning fee. We looked beyond it though because he lives there when it isn't being rented. Owner was also very flexible with us regarding our arrival date change. We sure appreciated his flexibility! I would reccommend this rental property for sure!

This is my first VRBO experience! The owners are so helpful and welcoming. The house is exactly as the pictures and description indicates: clean, peaceful and relaxing. There were four of us in my family and it was comfortable the whole week. We also enjoyed canoeing, swimming, boating, fishing. We caught pikes, walleyes and bass on the lake. I will recommend this place for my friends.

We were fortunate to get a week at this wonderful cabin when there was a July cancellation due to someon's health. The owners keywords: beautiful, quiet, relaxing and secluded all fit this property to perfection. We also found everything well equiped and in working order. There was lots of wildlife in the area and only 15 minutes away from great meals in Ely if you tire of cooking. The lakes were easy to get around in with the boat and motor provided, but the fish were hard to find.

I just spent 2 days at this Garden Lake cabin. The experience with the nearby wildlife was exciting. I brought my kayak and was able to paddle out to the beaver lodge of the beaver that had been eating by the cabin shore the night before. It was so loud you could hear him clearly from the deck of the cabin. Also adding to the ambiance were the loons calling and the heron flying over my kayak. Eagles shrieked . The cabin has everything I needed. The big windows facing the lake bring the outside into the cozy, well maintained cabin. Ely is close by and if a person needed a rainy day activity or world class education the Bear Center and the International Wolf Center are nearby. The owner is eager to help you have an enjoyable visit.

                  Why the Owner Chose Ely:
With 6 children in our family, we found the BWCAW to be a terrific family vacation area that we could afford. I couldn't think of a better area to retire in than a spot on a lake in the Ely area.

The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
I think I enjoy the solitude, privacy and the beauty of my small part of the lake most of all. It's an easy place to relax and just enjoy nature.
