Hinckley cabin description
This spacious, open A-frame is just a stone's throw from the cool, clean water's edge. Bury your feet in the sand or go for a refreshing dip. Coffee or cocktail on the dock enjoying the cool southerly breezes, or pole in hand casting as the trout rise. Paddle the canoe or rowboat on this 600 acre, deep (up to 160') stocked rainbow and brown trout lake. Strike! Snag a northern, entice the bass, crappie or sunnies. It's naptime and retire to the swaying hammock under the pines listening to the bubbling brook. Cross a little bridge to explore Carol's wildflower garden. Pick a tomato, herbs or apples as the season allows. The residences on either side are quite distant from the A-frame making you feel fairly secluded.
Inside you'll find open living/dining/kitchen with a freestanding wood stove for chilly evenings or switch on elec baseboard heat. Double sliding doors show off the beautiful 2 mile long, quiet Grindstone Lake. The bath with shower and 2 bedrooms are also on the first level. The loft is open to living room below and has an extra sofa for sleeping in addition to 2 twin beds. TV with satellite provided as well as jukebox with 45's, games, puzzles, interesting books and local entertainment ideas.
Explore the Audubon Center, it's activities and the pristine lakeshore which covers almost 1/3 of the eastern shoreline. Take a gamble at Grand Casino or golf at Grand National or Sandstone Public Course. Bike the Willard Munger Trail or kayak the Kettle River . There is an adventure for everyone.

About the owner: Roger and Carol are retired active outdoor enthusiasts who have enjoyed Grindstone Lake for many years. Roger has been a real estate developer and Carol a special education paraprofessional. Carol's favorite things to do were creating the wildflower garden, which has become even more wild, maple syruping, having tennis friends up and playing tennis at the Finlayson courts and biking and fishing.
Why the Owner Chose Hinckley:
We liked the close proximity to the Twin Cities. 100 miles from west metro and easy travel straight north up 35W to Sandstone exit and then 7 miles west..
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
A unique benefit is the north end location on a long oval lake. We get cooling south breezes in the summer and in the spring in fall we are protected from the north breezes behind the cabin. We also have a gentle creek that flows through the woods on the property and a little bridge to enter one garden area. The concrete deck out front has a large table and movable firepit.
