My husband and I fell in love with this cabin. It is in a perfect location near the Parkway and was easily accessible to town and anywhere else we wanted to go. Denver and his mother were very helpful and answered all of our questions quickly. The cabin is clean, offered all we needed for cooking and living there for a week. I really hope that I get the opportunity to stay there again very soon!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

After moving out of Ashe County a few months ago to TX, we needed to return to finish up some business. My sister from Little Rock joined us. The cabin was perfect for us three seniors. . .the location with easy access to both Jefferson & W Jefferson (right off the Blue Ridge Parkway); great kitchen with everything we needed; fireplace; plenty of beds; kept warm as the temps dropped (even the snowfall was beautiful); satellite tv and internet! And a view to boot! We appreciate so much the opportunity to stay there. . .the owner and his family was delightful to work with. Thank you for making it affordable. . .we cannot say enough good things about it. If and when we ever need to return to Ashe, we would definitely like to stay again!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with young children, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My husband & I were looking for a weekend getaway to spend time with each other and just relax from the hustle of everyday life. I came across this wonderful home and could not pass it up. The photos of the place are beautiful but to see it in person is really another story. The home is very cozy and very quiet. We took our 2 fur-babies and they enjoyed the stay as well. They lounged by the gas fire place and soaked up the peaceful quiet. The home has everything you need, master bed was comfy and the jet tub was awesome. There is not a tremendous amount to do around there so if you are looking for "stuff" to do like theme parks & such this is not your place, but if you are looking for a quiet place to relax, unwind and soak up all of God's wonderful gifts...this is a great place to visit!Did you find this review helpful? We were very pleased with out experience and stay at Denver's property. He was easy to work with and very quick to respond to any inquiry we had. The property was very easy to find. Even though it had snowed prior to our stay, it was easy to get to the property due to the clean and flat roads. Once we arrived at the cabin, we found a nice welcome note. If you have any concerns or needs, there are local contacts that you can contact as well. The house has a very nice interior. The house is nicely remodeled, especially the kitchen and the bathroom. There are hardwood floors throughout the home, which were also beautiful. The downstairs bed was very comfy, although, if you're like me and need a pillow fortress, you may need to bring an extra pillow or two. Other than that, everything you could possibly need was provided. Although the home was not tucked away in the woods, it was still very private as cars rarely even drove past the house. I imagine in the summertime it is a very active area due to the campground across the road, but the campground itself also adds to the beautiful scenery. We look forward to going back to Denver's home soon. We have already recommended this home to several of our friends.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We had a wonderful, relaxing Christmas here. The cabin is very comfortable with a cozy gas fireplace and a luxurious kitchen and bath. It was so nice to watch the snow fall while soaking in the jacuzzi bath after a long trip. My husband and I, along with our Labrador retriever, enjoyed the easy access to the Blue Ridge Parkway and many hiking trails close by, including one to view a beautiful waterfall. Denver and his family were gracious hosts. They decorated two tabletop Christmas trees and had other holiday touches ready for us. They also checked on us during a windstorm, but we were snug and enjoying it. Since the campground across the street is closed in winter, the area was very peaceful and we enjoyed the view of the lake out the living room window. West Jefferson is an easy twenty minute drive from the cabin. On the way to it's charming downtown you will pass a grocery and pharmacy, making it easy to find everything you need. We are hoping to make this an annual tradition!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We knew that this house would be close to the Blue Ridge Parkway, but we didn't realize that the property was actually adjacent to the parkway buffer. There was a National Park Service boundary marker at the edge of the yard! We took advantage of this proximity to walk from the house a short distance to the Mountains-to-Sea Trail during our visit. We recommend hiking south to the Jumpinoff Rock Trail overlook (about 3.5 miles) for a moderate walk to a picnic spot with an expansive view. The house itself was cozy and well-equipped, with an updated kitchen that was a pleasure to cook in and all the warmth we needed during the frosty nights. It had the comforts of home, and then some! The Jacuzzi tub was a pleasant luxury after a day of hiking, and the living room, with its gas fireplace, was a soothing area to relax in each evening. In terms of improvement, we suggest that the owner create a welcome card with more local information and checkout procedures. We weren't sure where to dispose the trash, for example. Otherwise, we had a very enjoyable trip, and we hope to visit the Blue Ridge Mountains again soon!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

My wife and I absolutely loved the cabin. It was everything the description said and more. We booked it particularly to have Thanksgiving there, and the kitchen was fully stocked. Also, someone already had Christmas decorations out, which was a great touch. Our cats, in particular, loved the gas fireplace, and my wife loved the hot tub. The owner is extremely nice, and when my wife mentioned she had to do work at the cabin, he had wifi hooked up! I mean, THAT is customer service. I'd definitely recommend the cabin to anyone looking to get away. It is close to the Parkway (literally steps away), Boone and West Jefferson. Assuming you even want to leave the cabin, which we did not!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

This cabin is perfect! I would recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet, relaxing vacation. Literally just off the Blue Ridge Parkway. Absolutely beautiful views! Only thing I recommend is the owners updating the television stations. Hard to find anything good to watch on TV, so my husband and I rented movies from a Red Box. We will definetely be backto visit again soon!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

The cabin is beautiful. Simply furnished, but beautiful inside. It is in a great location, easy to get to a lot of attractions and small towns. We loved the cabin. We could not have asked for a better place to stay. I would like to give a shout out to Brenda Barker. When we had truck trouble the morning we were checking out, she came to our rescue and sent her son-in-law, Wilson, to drive my husband to a parts store. Absolutely above and beyond service. I would recommend this cabin to anyone and everyone. We truly enjoyed our visit to Ashe County. We left a mum on the front porch as a thank you for a great vacation! My boyfriend & I were needing a weekend away and decided on a mountain weekend get-away. The pictures do not do this place justice- so when you walk in you think WOW! We enjoyed being able to sit on the porch in the rockers and watch the sunset, and even watching the sunset from inside sitting on the couch. The kitchen was nice and large and I enjoyed using it and stocked with all the utensils and things you'd need! Just bring your own food. Neither of us wanted to leave. Being right off the parkway was a bonus as we did a lot of trails and was close enough that Grandfather Mountain and Blowing rock were no more than an hour drive to get to and we were able to see all the scenic views and take great pictures. The dog loved it too. We only used the downstairs bedroom- and the bed was really comfortable. The place was very clean (although I would suggest doing away with open food products from past guests). It is also stocked with towel and the linens that you will need during your stay. The only thing I would say it needed was some door knobs on the bathroom sliding doors. But the Place was Great & if when we get the chance to go back to this part of the mountains we will definitely choose this place again. Thanks!!!Did you find this review helpful? This was our second stay at the cabin. We enjoyed ourselves even more. The weather was chilly, so we got to turn on the wood stove. It was even cozier! We also were able to grill out on the new grill. It was like being at a second home. We again did not want to leave and started looking at our calendars for our next visit!Recommended for: People with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Wow, what a great cabin, the photos fall short of this wonderful place. It has all the comforts of home and more. The tub was awesome at the end of the day and the 5 burnner stove was a joy to cook on .The cabin had all the spices I needed and then some. The grill area was perfect for a picnic while sitting by the fire pit. Denver's mom and siter were a pleasure to get to meet and they made sure we had everything we needed. We hated to leave. We have stay at quite a few cabins in Jefferson and this one is by far the best price, best atmosphere and best all around cabin, we will be back soon. This is truly a home away from home.Karen P.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

A fine ad quiet place ... just off the Blue Ridge Parkway, the best hiway ever. A few miles from West Jefferson - great cheese and bee shops (yes, do go to the bee shop!) and restaurants. Great parks - see New River and others. People had left frozen veg, condiments, sealed juices ... so we did too! All supplies for house were readily available ... changed a lite bulb or two (the one in living room is NOT out, just hard to find switch). It was a pleasure talking to Denver ahead of time and to his mom, when she called to see how we survived the big storm ... would liked to have stayed longer ...Did you find this review helpful? We had a wonderful vacation here last summer. While we were thinking of our next mountain trip, I realized I had yet to leave a review, so here goes... If what you are looking for is an escape from the hustle and bustle of city life, this is your place. It's just a short drive to Boone if you'd like to have a dinner out. The finishes are beautiful and the scenery is picturesque. Everything about this place urges you to sit back and rest. We loved every minute and will definitely be back soon!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Our visit was exactly what we needed. I have an 87 y/o mother with many limitations. I took her and she is already talking about making arrangements to go back. (I've got some medical issues to deal with before I can go back, but this is this the place for us). The owners family was more than cordial making sure our needs were taken care of. Definitely I would recommend this to anybody needing an out of the way place where there's no excess traffic from commercial or tourist attractions. If I can sum it up to one phrase, I would say: "I needed the quiet". Thanks to the owner for seeing the need to preserve history and continue the memories of family.Recommended for: People with disabilities, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
