This lovely apartment is a great base to discover DC from. The direct environment feels young and rejuvenated. Many trendy new restaurants seem to have sprung up there recently. Between a Safeway, a Whole Foods and a couple of small grocery stores, cooking in was a pleasure to do in the well equiped kitchen. in short, it was a good place to stay.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, age 55+.

My husband and I made this lovely apartment our base for a week in DC. It is a comfortable, stylish and well equipped home-from-home in a very pretty heritage house set in a quiet, tree-lined street. Susan is a very competent and thoughtful host and has created a really superb environment for her visitors/guests. We definitely recommend others to try it and would certainly return ourselves if in town. Many thanks!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We stayed 5 nights at the Green Retreat and will not hesitate in coming back to this quiet, charming, clean and well-run place if we ever come back to DC as tourists. My husband and me stayed there with our little baby daughter and the owner Susan was more than helpful in providing us some food after a long and exhausting flight, arrange with baby equipment and in general providing advice on where to go for a walk, restaurants etc. The apartment was really clean and had everything we needed of kitchen utencils, coffee & tea, washing and dryer machines, TV, books to read...It is one of my best hotel/ bed& breakfast experiences so far and I will definitely recommend it to anyone that does not requiere hotel services as clean bed sheets and towels every day.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

We stayed 5 nights at the Green Resort and are happy to recommend it to anyone who wants a home away from home. The apartment is a good size for 2 people and very well equiped, the kitchen has all the appliances you need and Susan, a most hospitable landlady, ensures all those supplies which you don't want to carry with you like flour, olive oil, spices, etc.. are there for your use. She was very helpful and we hope to keep in touch. There are lovely restaurants very close by too for when you do not want to eat at home and transport to anywhere is close by.Recommended for: Age 55+.

My 15-year-old daughter and I stayed at the Green Retreat for 6 days during our vacation to Washington, D.C. It was perfect for the two of us. I enjoyed the comfortable queen bed in the bedroom, and she had her privacy (and control of the flat screen television) when sleeping on the fold-out couch. Great to have a washer and dryer available, as well as a nice size refrigerator. U Street metro stop is convenient, quicker, and cheaper choice to all that DC has to offer. Neighborhood is walkable, and people are friendly. Susan, the owner, lives upstairs, and was very accessible for our questions. A jewel of a place!Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

I highly recommend the "green retreat". Me and 3 girlfriends stayed there for 4 days as a girls getaway vacation. The pictures and description were accurate, we had plenty of room. We enjoyed all the amenities of home, washer/dryer and a well equipped kitchen. The owner, Susan was very hospitable and eager to make our stay comfortable. I loved the central location, it is a short cab ride to all the major sightseeing attractions and within walking distance to some local venues. I will definitely stay again!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

We spent almost 2 weeks in May at the Green Retreat, sightseeing with our college age son. I have to say that the apartment is much smaller than the pictures make it seem. But it is extremely comfortable - the bed is outstanding, which is rare in a rented place! - conveniently and safely located, cool when it's hot outside, and well equipped with everything you might need. Susan, the owner, lives upstairs and respected our privacy completely but was above-and-beyond responsive to any requests or needs we expressed, even helping with things that really had nothing to do with her (like the airline losing our baggage). We would definitely come again.Recommended for: Sightseeing, people with disabilities, tourists without a car, age 55+, romantic getaway.
