Escape the chaos of everyday life in our spacious, 5BR/3BA lakefront retreat. Our beautiful, family-friendly home is located in a quiet cove on the South end of Lake Wedowee where the waterways are open and uncrowded, even on the busiest of holidays. The home’s layout, outdoors and in, is perfect for a large family, or two to three families wanting thier own living spaces to create lasting vacation memories.
You and your guests will savor the endless ways to relax off of our deep-water docks. Jump off the stationary dock to splash those sunbathing on the large, uncovered floating dock, or fish for catfish, bream, bass and crappie. Feed the turtles with left-over bread from your picnic lunch. Take off in your boat or jet-ski to speed along the open water or troll along multiple inlets for more fishing opportunities. Explore near-by coves in our kayak, or simply float in the calm water off our docks without the threat of being tossed around on the busier areas of the lake.
If you want to escape the heat and sun, relax in the porch swing on one of our covered porches while watching your guests have fun near the water. Curl up for an afternoon nap in our great room with the sun shining in and trees swaying outside the large, open windows. Or make a batch of homemade ice cream in our electric ice cream churn in the shade on the back porch.
Within 15-20 minutes, you will find a multitude of activities to entertain you. Explore charming antique shops, rent movies to enjoy after dinner, pick up last minute items at the local grocery, drug or dollar stores. If you are tired of cooking for the crowd, let someone else prepare your next meal as takeout from Mexican food to pizzas, Southern cuisine to coffee shop items. Drive a little further to Mount Cheaha for hiking nature trails and share a meal in their mountain top lodge while watching a gorgeous sunset. Anniston, AL is about an hour away with a mall, book stores, movie theater, and multiple dining choices for a day trip. Several wineries are also with-in driving distance for another day trip opportunity.
At the end of the day, you will find plenty of room for everyone to spread out. The walk-out basement, which opens onto a covered deck overlooking the lake, provides a large living/game area with Wii entertainment system and Ping-Pong table. This level also contains two bedrooms (one with queen bed, one with twin/double bunk) and full bathroom. Going up the stairs to the second and main floor, you will find dining areas, fully stocked kitchen, laundry room, full bath with walk-in shower and master bedroom (with private access to the bathroom), and great room with vaulted ceiling, fireplace, large screen TV/DVD/DVR and iHome stereo system opening onto large open deck with outdoor dining areas. Off the kitchen, there is a covered porch with a large stainless steel gas grill and seating area convenient for unloading groceries, sipping cold drinks while grilling dinner, storing coolers, and making homemade ice cream. From the wide staircase leading from the great room to the top level, you can access both upstairs bedrooms (one queen, one twin bunk with extra mattress) which have mirrored vanities in each bedroom for extra privacy as well as a full bath off the balcony connecting the two rooms.
Fishing is great here at Lake Wedowee! The lake is adverstised as one of Alabama's cleanest and best fishing lakes. Golfing is also convenient in Roanoke, a 20 minute trip, as well as other golf courses within an hour drive. There are multiple Antique shops in downtown Wedowee for lazy, afternoon browsing and Talladega, Auburn and University of Alabama are a short drive away on NASCAR/football weekends.
Owners are located an hour away from lake house property and will be accessible to you during your stay should you need anything! We hope that you will return year after year and enjoy our retreat as much as we do!

Chloe, Thanks for letting us stay at your beautiful lakehome!! Home was very clean and lots of extras (coffee,trashbags, soap, paper towels). Very peaceful and secluded section of the lake. Would definately stay here again!!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

This property is everything described and more. Everything is very well maintained and anything you could need is available. I vacationed with family that included two 7 year olds, two 16 year olds, a 21 year old, and then us "grown ups". We cooked, played ping pong, fished, and even spent a day at Six Flags Over Georgia (it's only 80 miles from the house). The area is quiet and everyone was very friendly. The owner gave us perfect directions that made finding the house easy. If you're looking for a relaxing place to just enjoy your family, this is a great spot. The teenagers didn't even mind that there was only limited cell phone reception out in the driveway. (AT&T)Recommended for: Families with teenagers.

Our family spent a few days here and we just loved it. The house was roomy and clean and lovely and so well stocked that we had everything we needed. Everywhere we looked we found more things to make our stay comfortable and fun. We loved the swing on the porch and the lounge chairs on the deck by the lake. The first few days were too cold and windy to be out much, but the kids were happy with the Wii games, air hockey and ping pong! Friday was beautiful and we actually caught some fish! We all really enjoyed the kayak, too. We had a question about how to use the TV and the owner helped us out right away. Thanks for letting us stay in your beautiful home. We can't wait to come back!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, tourists without a car, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

This was not like stepping into a vacation rental, this was like stepping into a home. Also VERY kid friendly. The home had almost every amenity, to include some items we had forgotten. The homeowners were very friendly, and answered the phone right away when we had questions. The lake was beautiful, although we did not get to enjoy it because of cool weather. Since we only had one day available to us, we spent most of it at Cheaha State Park, which was between 30-45 minutes away. Wish we had more time. Oh well, we will definitely be making another trip!Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

The home is lovely and exceeded our expectations. The pho'os, while accurrate, do not do the home justice. The home was clean and both the home and property were well maintained. I was grateful for the perfect directions Chloe provided from the Birmingham area as we arrived at dusk and were able to negotiate the unfamiliar area without getting lost. My son is a Freshman at the University of Alabama and the home was a perfect mid-term retreat from his studies. A swim in the lake and a few kayak trips added to an enjoyable mini-family reunion and we hope to make it an annual trip. We had some cellphone reception issues (AT&T i-phones) but I can't say we missed the distraction! One member of our party had Verizon and another had AT&T (not a smart phone) and had no issues. We did not turn the TV on at all! We visited the Cheaha State Park for a trail walk and pictures. The adults in the party visited both the White Oak Vineyards and Fruthurst Winery Co in nearby towns. We would definitely plan return trips to the State Park and Fruithurst Winery. The "locals" in the area made us feel welcomed and were very helpful. My sister wanted boiled peanuts and we made a stop at the bait shop, they did not have any made but offered to make them just for her if she wanted to come back! I would definitely recommend the property to friends and relatives.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, girls getaway.

My family and I had a wonderful time together this past 4th of July. Our stay at VRBO 412859 could not have been better. The house is beautiful and very spacious and completely family friendly, complete with toys for my grandchildren. The location of this property is ideal in that you are away from the busy boat traffic of the main lake area(located in a cove), so you are able to swim and play in comfort and safety, but close enough to get out and ride. I would highly recommend visiting this property with your family and friends. The owners are readily available if needed and have completely furnished the home with everything you would ever need during your stay. I would definitely go back again with pleasure.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

What a great place for a getaway! We spent the weekend with another family and were very excited to see how spacious the house is. And fully stocked with everything you would ever need. My kids loved taking the kayak out and exploring the nearby coves. The dock was perfect for our boat, and the kids had so much fun just swimming around and jumping off the dock. We had great weather, so didn't use the Wii that was available, but that would come in very handy if the weather gets bad...or if you've just had too much sun. I highly recommend this place if you are interested in visiting Lake Wedowee.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

We had an exceptional family getaway! Cousins enjoyed tubing, kayaking, kneeboarding, swimming, playing the Wii, and fishing with one another! (The dock was perfect for tying up our boat.) The grown-ups relaxed watching the Olympics, swinging on the porch and putting puzzles together. The pictures and description of this location were very accurate. The homeowners were prompt, courteous, and professional. We felt well-prepared for our stay with all of the information Chloe provided in advanced. We would highly recommend this location for anyone looking for a nice cove on Lake Wedowee. Very clean when we arrived! Chloe even left freshly baked cookies for us! Plenty to keep grandkids busy and lots of room to spread out! Yards were well kept and pots of flowers blooming on the deck. My thoughts were this is a family who cares about people and want them to be comfortable! Would highly recommend this home. Responded quickly to any questions I emailed. Steps were a little steep and too many for someone my age (69) however rest of the family handled them just fine! I was content to watch from the porch swing - less noise that way too!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with young children.

Located on a peaceful cove--this home provides the perfect setting for a lakeside getaway with friends and family! The home is beautiful, spacious and cozy--complete with a wood burning fireplace. The decks are amazing! One of my favorite features is the swing on the lower deck overlooking the water. The multi-level docks provide convenient access to the water for swimming and boating. I highly recommend this property for your next vacation! About the owner: My husband and I both have busy schedules and enjoy the serenity of Lake Wedowee. We enjoy both entertaining other famlies at the lake and also spending much needed family time making memories. We live about an hour away from our lake house, so we are very accessible to our renters and will be available to assist in any way.
Why the Owner Chose Lake Wedowee:
We built this lake house as a retreat from every day life and as a place to relax with our friends and family. We both grew up spending summers on Lake Wedowee and wanted those memories for our children as well.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Lake Wedowee is a very convenient drive from Birmingham, AL and Atlanta, GA. There are endless things to do and enjoy, no matter how long your stay. Our favorite things to do at the lake: hearing children squeal with delight when they jump off our stationary dock and fall 6-8 feet into the water (20 feet deep off the end of our dock), sipping hot coffee on cool mornings before any 'human' noises can be heard, running in near-by neighborhoods before the heat of the day while the kids ride their bicycles, memories of proud children holding up 2 pound fish caught off the dock with plans for great dinner feasts....
