As soon as we arrived and stood on the beach I felt I was home where I belonged, next to the sea. The beach house is so beautiful, with all the comforts of our own home, lots of space for my husband and I and 3 twenty-something kids. Everything you could want is in this house. We had a very relaxing week shelling, making sandcastles, riding boogie boards on the waves, watching movies, playing games and exploring the island. We can't wait to come back again. Lee is a fantastic guy to deal with, so accomodating, so nice, and full of useful information. My husband, our chihuahua and I spent the most relaxing week of our life at Southern Shores the week of Thanksgiving! Lee, the owner was very pleasant and easy to work with. The house was absolutely amazing. It exceeded our expectations. It is obvious that much thought was put into decorating the home. The kitchen has high end appliances and cookware. The furnishings are beautiful and comfortable. Whether relaxing in the living room, bedroom, or deck we enjoyed the sunrise and sunset every day. The beach was clean and peaceful. The “locals” were very friendly. Over the last 6 years we have stayed at several beach houses from Florida, to Oregon, Texas and California. This was by far the best vacation we have had. This was our first trip to Dauphin Island, but it will DEFINITELY NOT be our last!Recommended for: Pet owners

Our first comment upon entering the home was: "It is exactly like the pictures!!. It was so clean, the cleanest rented home we have ever stayed in. The appliances were of the best quality. I even named the dryer Tinkerbell 'cause there is such a beautiful chime when the drying cycle is complete. The beds were extremely comfortable. There was more than enough utensils, dishware, pots, etc. I will admit the blender intimidated my sister and I what with all those blades!! Lee was very helpful before, during, and after our stay. We can't wait to stay there again. Each year my sister and her husband, and my husband and I stay on Daulphin Island for a week during November. This year was our year to find a place and we found Southern Shores. Now this will be our place each year. Thanks Lee for providing such a beautiful home for us to enjoy our strees free vacation!! We'll be back next November.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway.

This is the easiest review to write I have ever written. In a word - Awesome. Well appointed home with quality furnishings in a layout that is perfect for a crowd or for just two. I highly recommend - just let me book my next week there first!!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway.

Our stay at the Southern Shores beach house was awesome! The house is beautiful, inside and out and we couldn't have been happier with the location. We also were very pleased with the hospitality of the owners and their concern that we were enjoying our stay. Over the years we have stayed at many places around the area and Southern Shores is by far the best! Absolutely breathtaking! I have never had such a natural beach experience in any other location. There were HUNDREDS of crabs at night, we saw dolphins almost every morning (even saw one jump), a manna ray jumped out of a wave right in front of us (twice), and I found my very first intact conch shell. We were the only ones on the beach for hundreds of feet in both directions. The rental itself is perfect and the owner extremely accomodating. We brought in all our food from grocery shopping in Mobile and never left the house until the night before we left. We brought our two dogs with us and they loved it! We are actually relaxed after this trip!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway.

We had a great time. The house is clean and beautifully decorated. The kitchen is well equipped. All of the pictures are accurate. The beach is great, with soft white sand. We especially enjoyed the covered deck - we ate almost all of our meals out there. The owner, Lee, is great to work with and very responsive.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway.

Comfortable, nicely decorated and well-appointed new home right on the beach. Happy that we were able to bring our dogs. Homeowner very informative and accomodating. We hope to return for another vacation!Recommended for: Pet owners

This was a comfortable beach house that had all the amenities of home. We had ten people in our party and had plenty of room. The house is right on the gulf and the view is breathtaking. The house was clean with plenty of dishware and towels. The owner was available to answer any questions we might have. I would definitely recommend this property to family and friends.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway.

I have dubbed Southern Shores as the gateway to Heaven. My four sisters, my dad and I were the first to stay at Southern Shores. My father, 87, has been on home hospice the past couple of years. He was axious to have a week at Dauphin Island. We knew we were on borrowed time and searched all properties but all were rented through July. Luckily I emailed Lee about another property, Southern Breeze, but it too was booked up. Lee explained that Southen Shores was scheduled to be completed and available June 2-9. Lee went over and above our expectations to get it ready. This house is beautiful and has all the accommodations needed to have a WONDERFUL vacation! We had room for many visitors to come and go. Five days after a glorious week at the beach with dad he died, hince the name gateway to Heaven. Our deposit was refunded the day after we checked out. Lee, the property owner, took special care of us and we all will be forever grateful. Needless to say, Southern Shores holds a special place in our hearts and we look forward to staying again. I would reccommend this property to families, couples, small groups or anyone in need of a great vacation!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
