It is a one mile long entertainment strip along the coast of Lake Erie, with establishments dating back over 60 yrs and buildings dating back to the early 1900's. There is a new 1 3/4 mile hike/bike trail along the Lake Erie shoreline, from the Lodge to the State Park. The State park has public boats slips for your PWC's or boats. I stayed at this lovey home last weekend for a girls getaway. I have never used VRBO in the past and as always with online bookings I was a little nervous. When we arrived to the house we all were shocked and surprised how awesome the house was. It was like a page out of better homes and gardens. The decor and amenaties made you feel like home. We had a great time and will be back to this house again. The owner April was so nice and prompt with instrustions and details and made the entire transition and weekend easy! This house sleeps 8 but I would rent this house even if you only have 2 people its perfect!!!!!!!! Thanks April!!!

My 4 friends and I enjoyed staying at this cottage for a week together. The cottage was very clean, neat and well furnished without being "junked up". We had everything needed to cook in the kitchen, a big screen tv with netflix and a beautiful backyard with a hot tub, picnic table and fire ring for campfires. I would recommend this cottage for a group or a family. It was very comfortable and convenient to all attractions in the area.

We had a group of 8 women for our twice a year girls trips. The area is beautiful and within walking distance to town and lake. The house was very well maintained and clean but it was a little small for our group of 8. We were a little disappointed to realize that the house was in very close proximity to the full-time neighbors on both sides. We enjoyed our stay but would find a place with more privacy next time.

Owner response: We are glad you found the house clean and well maintained! It is stated on the website that it's 1100 square feet, which is very comfortable for most groups of 8. The close proximity to neighbors is pretty standard for Geneva-On-The-Lake. The majority of the town was originally divided up into 30x99 lots. Our house sits on two of those lots, some of the cottages are on just 30' lots. Not a lot of distance between neighbors! What I like about our street is that there are no neighbors directly behind us, just trees!
Everything was as advertised and we really enjoyed our stay (3 couples in their late 20's / early 30'). The house was clean and well-stocked with all needed amenities. The back yard is great and has a picnic table, propane grill, hot tub, chairs, fire pit (fire wood was provided for our stay, but I'm not sure if that's always the case). Absolutely no complaints. My deposit was returned in full in 2 days. Would definitely stay again. Recommend doing the wine tour from the Geneva on the Lake Lodge. It's $17 per person and last approximately 5 hours and goes to 4 wineries. It's about a 10 minute drive from the house. The Strip is about a 15 minute walk from the house.

Perfect for Girls Weekend Away!
Perfect for Girls Weekend Away!
We stayed at Acorn Cottage for my best friends bachelorette party. We had 6 girls and had the best time. The house was comfortable, clean and exactly what we needed for a great girls weekend. The hot tub was immaculate and we had a blast using it. We were able to easily walk to the strip for cocktails and dancing which saved us on cabs and limos, although half the group preferred to cab and had no trouble finding what we needed. I would 100% recommend this house for both enjoying Geneva as well as just enjoying a weekend away with friends. Big thumbs up from all of us!

This place was very clean and nice inside just as listed. Make sure to bring toilet paper as there was none upon arrival. A little bit further from the strip than expected but within walking distance. We all had a great time. The beds were very comfortable and nice soft sheets. The outdoor area was also a nice place to hang out. We had 3 couples and had plenty of room. Make sure to bring everything on the list as there are no extra amenities such as coffee, napkins, paper towels, toilet paper. Plenty of towels though.

Charming Home at Geneva-on-the-Lake
Charming Home at Geneva-on-the-Lake
My family enjoyed our stay at Acorn Cottage very much. It was very well suited for my family of five plus my mother-in-law. My husband and I enjoyed staying in the master bedroom with the attached master bath. Our 8 month old baby was content to sleep in his pack-n-play which we tucked inside the spacious master closet. Our six year old twins shared the bedroom with two twin beds, and my mother-in-law had her own room too! She commented to me that the bed was exceptionally comfortable. All of our creature comforts were met. The kitchen was well stocked, everything was very neat and clean and beautifully decorated and having the washer and dryer available was a huge bonus. My family especially enjoyed the hot tub, fire pit and proximity to Geneva-on-the-Lake. It was a wonderful spot and April is very kind to work with!

MARINE CORPS FAMILY DECEIVED!!!
MARINE CORPS FAMILY DECEIVED!!!
My family arrived at "Acorn Cottage" and much to our horror, it was a Trailer, Mobile home, or Modular home. It is described on the website as a "Cottage, Ranch Home and Cabin" Definition of Cottage: noun; is usually a modest often cosy dwelling. Ranch Home: noun; is noted for being long, close to the ground profile and minimal use of exterior and interior decor. Cabin: noun; a small roughly built house usually with a wood exterior and typically found in rural areas. Modular home: prefabricated house that sits on a foundation. Mobile home: a prefabricated home built in a factory. Trailer: a prefabricated home, built in a factory. The owner is a realtor and surely she knows the difference between a cottage, cabin, ranch home versus and trailer, mobile home or modular home?? The owner "staged" the pictures beautifully but notice to fellow renters there are no pictures of the front of the property, back of the house or that the property is surrounded by "All" trailers and a few modular homes. Which is called a "Trailer Park". I called the owner to discuss how the property was misrepresented and she said that she would let us leave and charge us a pro-rated amount for three days. We also tried to speak with her about ants all over the kitchen and cockroaches in the bedroom and she denied it and said that there were no roaches in Ohio and that we brought them. We followed all check out procedures and 5 days after exiting the property she said we stole a towel and is not going to return our security deposit because she has to have a pest inspector examine the property and have it exterminated since we brought roaches to her house. There was no damage to her property and why would we travel 1,000 miles to steal a towel? SHAME ON YOU, TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF AN ACTIVE DUTY MARINE CORPS FAMILY who serves this country, and was very much looking forward to our family vacation, we traveled over a thousand miles to be completely Deceived! We paid a lot of money for a deceptive, misrepresented property that we exited out of early and she is KEEPING ALL OF OUR MONEY. We have a home and would have never paid that much money to vacation in a trailer/modular home. Our family doesn't want anymore families to suffer as we did. We can't afford another vacation and we our completely devasted that this has happened to us. The owner of the property was extremley rude and sent me a bullying e-mail? When she is the one who is deceiving the public! Warning to all!

Very clean and well kept.... sort of hard mattresses but otherwise - - very comfortable and had a great girls' weekend. Within walking distance to the strip made this even more attractive. Would not hesitate to recommend this Acorn Cottage to anyone at anytime....

Owner response: We are glad you enjoyed Acorn Cottage and the location! The mattresses are new Serta mattresses, they are on the firm side. There is a memory foam topper in the master closet for those that prefer softer mattresses. We hope you can come again!

About the owner: I grew up in nearby Madison by Lake Erie and have always loved being at the Lake. My family and I spend a lot of time in Geneva-on-the-Lake during the summer, Jet-skiiing and hanging out with our friends at the beach.
Why the Owner Chose Geneva-on-the-Lake:
My husband and I bought this home in 1998 as a rental home. We recently remodeled it and turned it into a weekly rental because we've always loved coming to GOTL and wanted to share this with others.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
We enjoy the quiet street a little bit away from the noise of the strip, yet we are able to walk to everything or ride bikes.
