Welcome to "Volcano Cottage", our private charming vacation rental nestled in a Hapu'u fern and Ohia forest right in Volcano Village, just minutes from the entrance to Volcano's National Park. This is the real Hawaii. A cooler climate, tropical rainforest cottage with the peaceful sounds of nature all around. Tastefully decorated with all the amenities of home, including Wireless Internet Access. This is the perfect spot for relaxation and exploring flora and fauna amongst the lava landscapes. Only a short 30 minute drive to Hilo where you can go swimming at a black sand beach, visit Rainbow Falls, or walk a tropical botanical garden at the edge of the blue ocean. There are lots of things to see and explore when visiting Volcano and Hawaii Volcanoes National Park: Walk through a REAL Lava Tube, take a helicopter flight to see the red glowing lava fields from above, watch an educational video about lava at the visitor center, or take a guided flora & fauna tour with one of the rangers. You can hike across Kilauea Crater, visit the Jaggar Museum and learn about all the different types of lava, or hike one of the many trails in the lush tropical forest. Take a drive up Mauna Loa Road to have a birds eye view over Volcano, or an excursion to Punaluu Black Sand Beach ( 30 minute drive) to see some endangered Sea Turtles. Punaluu is also a great place to sit on the black sand under the palm trees and have a relaxing lunch. Visit South Point ( the most Southern Point in the United States, or take a long hike to see Green Sand Beach at South Point ( don't leave valuables in your car !!) In Hilo ( 30 minute drive) you will find beaches to go swimming and snorkeling, Rainbow Falls (Go early to see the Rainbow, Hilo Zoo and Botanical Garden ( FREE), Mauna Loa Mac Nut Company, Big Island Candy Company, Hilo Homemade Icecream (Tropical Flavors !..mmhh. Above Hilo visit Hawaii Tropical Botanical Gardens, an amazing botanical garden right at the ocean, Akaka Falls, the islands largest waterfall, Waipio Valley, or Mauna Kea Observatory ( make sure your car rental company allows you to drive up the mountain) Hope you have a great time in Hawaii !..
