We had a really good time. It is spacious and comes with Filtered water, yeah!!!! The place was very well taken care of and the yard was big enough to fly a kite. My children had a great time in the water, exploring the grounds, and just goofing off. The fishing was ok the men in my life did not catch much, not sure if it is the lake or the technique. He he. Not much of a beach area so we boated out and went swimming that way. Many Islands to explore plus one that we saw had a fire pit on it? They can only be used during day light. Also saw Loons pretty cool! The town Of Ely has some great little shops, we ate at one place it town and it was just ok but at least I did not have to cook. My one major grip but I totally understand because of MN humidity is that we could not use the hot tub. Being a 40 to 60 hour a week working mother of 4 (plus a husband) I was really really looking forward to relaxing in the hot tub.

Very comfortable home
Very comfortable home
This home was very well maintained and comfortable. It is well-stocked and has everything you could possibly need on the premises. We arrived late and were happy that all the beds were already made up and ready to go. Bath towels also were provided -- something you don't see very often these days. The owners are helpful and accommodating. Just wish we would have found more fish! My son did catch a 35" northern though. Would certainly stay here again.

Lovely view, disappointing home
Lovely view, disappointing home
This home has a strange mix of good and bad features. Lovely yard and lake view, although it looks over the neighbor's yard and dock. The dock at this home is in need of repair- very crooked. The fish house is unusable according to the owner. The firepit area is overgrown with tall grass and weeds. We enjoyed the canoe and paddleboat, swam in the lake, and caught a few fish off the dock. The lower level was quite musty and the dehumidifier ran constantly and needed to be emptied twice a day. The only air conditioner is a wall unit in the upstairs living room and it also ran constantly (and very noisily) in order to keep the basement more comfortable. Because of this the living room was way too chilly, while the kitchen and basement remained warm and all bedroom doors had to be kept open at night to keep the air flowing at all. The two bedrooms and bathroom on the lower level were poorly constructed and very simply furnished, but the shower was newer. The upstairs level was nicer, but most furniture is aging and the kitchen cupboards are in need of a deep cleaning. Nice lake view from the dining room. Gas grill needed a good cleaning and we had to install a fresh propane tank from the garage the first time we used it, but it works. Deck has a somewhat narrow seating area and an old table and another wooden structure are stored on it for some reason. If you prefer updated rentals we suggest you look elsewhere.

Manager response: The owner apologizes that their adventure in our rustic northern Minnesota home did not meet the renter's exceptions. The owner offers multiple amenities to meet the varied interests of each guest but every need cannot be predicted and is not controllable. A week of rain and 90+degree heat produced excessive humidity and a challenge for dehumidifiers and air conditioners. Ely has very comfortable summers with limited days of excessive heat and rain. Therefore this was our first notification of this issue and we will take it under advisement and talk with our repeat renters to see if it was ever an issue for any of them. We have made many updates to our home and think the VRBO site and pictures are a wonderful representation of our property that we proudly have listed for renters. Our home sits on 3.5 acres and has 500 feet of shore line with a 2,400 square foot home. The miner issues listed have been taken care of this week. We appreciate any chance to better our VRBO rental property. Thank you, Hannie Property's manager and owner’s daughter in law
Great Family Getaway
Great Family Getaway
Our extended family (9 of us) stayed at this vacation home on White Iron Lake this past summer. It was very spacious (enough for each family to have their own space) and the manager was extremely courteous! It was very comfortable, relaxing, and clean. The description and pictures on the website were very accurate. The views of the lake out the large picture window were amazing. Our kids spent a lot of time out on the dock and in the boat. The property was very secluded. The large yard and wrap-around deck provided plenty of outside space for our children to play in. One of my favorite parts was being outside looking at the stars and listening to the sounds of nature instead of the hum of traffic! Yet, we still enjoyed some modern conveniences like being able to watch a movie on the big screen television and a kitchen full of every item we needed for cooking for the week. If you are looking for a place to relax and rejuvenate, check this rental out. There's only one problem, you may not want to go back to the hum of the city! I guess every vacation must come to an end, but next summer isn't too far away.

Great house and location
Great house and location
We recently stayed for a week at this house and had a wonderful time. The updated main floor is very spacious and has a great outdoor feel with the wood floors and wood paneling. The house was very clean, the kitchen had everything we needed for our stay, the house had plenty of linens and towels and the property owners were really helpful. The property is absolutely beautiful and in a great spot. We would definitely recommend this to anyone and will plan on returning in the future.

About: This rental property is my father in laws house. I love this property so much! I go over with the kids to fish off the dock and we always catch fish. My kids love the huge yard and love to go swimming in the lake. My hole family uses this house every fall for our family gathering. This is a total of 8 adults and 9 kids. Its a big roomy house and we all fit well.
My father in law built this home with his cousin 32 years ago. Its were my husband grew up. He has made many updates to it over the years. It is 2,400 square foot two level home. It has a huge yard on 3.5 acres with 500 feet of shore line.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Fishing is the number one thing I enjoy about this property. The fact you can just fish off the dock and catch a 42 inch northen is amazing. We have caught our limit in walleyes and love all the bass and perch. I also love eating at the dinner table overlooking the lake.
