Pelican's Retreat is relaxed, comfortable and freshly updated. We built it to be easy to care for, so we chose leather furniture and laminate flooring. We wanted to be sure that we could spend our days enjoying the beach and the sunny days.
Let me describe it to you. Pelican's Retreat has a spacious family room (18 ft x 26 ft) and a large kitchen (17 ft x 11.5 ft). Large families will feel at home. It's open floor plan (1,900 ft) and high ceilings enhance the feeling of spaciousness.
There is a large master bedroom on the first floor with a king size bed. The second bedroom (on the second floor) has a beautiful queen size poster bed. There is a bunk room with 2 twin beds and 2 sets of bunk beds. That is a total of 8 eight beds with plenty of space for 10.
Pets (with size restrictions) are welcome with advance agreement. This is a non-smoking home.

We enjoyed our stay at this amazing property. I searched hundreds of properties, and either they were nice but too expensive, or affordable but didn't look so nice. It all changed when I saw this rental. I felt like writing a positive review even before we got there since the property manager, Karen, was SUCH A PLEASURE to deal with!! She was so helpful and accommodating. The bed/bedding was heavenly comfortable. (And I'm usually very picky with these things). The entire property was immaculate and tastefully decorated. It is conveniently located on the water, so we were able to keep our boat in the slip in between our outings. It is also literally minutes to the beach. The back deck is perfect to watch both the sunrise and sunset over the peaceful bay. This place was immaculate both inside and out, and had everything we needed. If you want a great place to stay at an affordable price; this is the spot. We had a pleasant experience, from booking our stay through our departure. We’ll be back!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway.

We spent several days here while in Galveston for a family wedding. The house was brand new inside. Spotlessly clean and had all the comforts of home. We would definitely book this house again.Recommended for: Age 55+, girls getaway, families with young children, romantic getaway.

This place is beautiful in every way! Our dog enjoyed it as much as we did! Super cool and we will definitely rent it again!Recommended for: Girls getaway, families with young children, pet owners.

This vacation rental was awesome! Home was extremely clean, had comfortable beds and nice sheets, clean towels and plenty of them. Comfortable inside and out. I would recommend this home to anyone!Recommended for: Age 55+, girls getaway, families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway.

My family loves Galveston and we rent beach properties at least once a year. I have to say that compared to all of our experiences this is a beautiful rental. Top of the line appliances, nice linens and housewares...I certainly hope all future renters treat this property with respect it deserves because raely do you find a beach or bay rental this nice. About the owner: We spend our winter weekends in the house, kayaking when it is warm enough. Together, the 3 of us (my husband, our dog and I) travel the canals with my husband in the kayak and the dog and I swimming beside the kayak. The dog and I rest on the kayak or my husband tows us when we are tired. The bulkhead has a ladder for me, and a ladder for the dog. However, the real reason we go to our house is to watch our beautiful dog race through the waves chasing the birds and retrieving the ball. We live in Houston and are transplanted Canadians. It is too hot in Texas for us, so we have the perfect plan. We enjoy our Jamaica Beach home on winter weekends and let other people stay there in the summer. Pelican's Retreat is celebrating its first anniversary. It was a good year; the house was rented most of the summer, quite a bit in the winter and we received nice reviews. We were still able to squeeze in some weekends for ourselves. So, we look back over the year with pride. Karen Anderson will be greeting you and helping with any problems that you might encounter. She has lived in Jamaica Beach for many years and knows everything there is to know about the area.
Why the Owner Chose Jamaica Beach:
This was my father's beach house until the hurricane took everything but the shell away. I inherited the house from him and my husband and I rebuilt it. So, the house is all new through out.

Pelican's Retreat was rebuilt for our enjoyment, so we made sure that it was like a home. We never intended to rent it. This means that everything is fresh, new, and high quality.
There are other special things about Pelican's Retreat. It has a very large deck with a cool breeze. We own the lot next door which is a perfect place to have a wedding reception.
