'Yurts inspire a sacred connection between people and their environment, between living and nature, between humankind and the forces that shape the world in which we live'.
from 'Yurts: Living in the Round' by Becky Kemery.
Come and share our secluded 33 acres of mixed redwood forest and meadows, with horses, garden, and seasonal stream in a beautiful natural setting less than 1 mile to Jughandle Reserve Beach. We are bordered to the north by Jughandle Reserve and to the east Jackson State Forest. The village of Mendocino is 4 miles south and Fort Bragg is 4 miles north.
Here is the home of Watsu Mendocino, where my 24 ft. round, heated and covered pool is, for Watsu and Aquatic Massage sessions, a 30 ft. yurt for groups and shamanic sessions, and a beautiful bath house.
There is also a 24 ft. tipi on a redwood platform for extra sleeping space and a guest room attached to our garage next to our house, if extra space is needed.

Had a perfect night in the Purple Yurt. The owners were very easy to work with, responsive and welcoming. The grounds that the yurt sits on are spacious and well kept, a very private piece of land. The location is ideal, close proximity to the beach and a short drive to nearby Mendocino. It rained the night we were there and we were amazed at how durable the structure of the yurt was. As for interior, it was comfortable and clean with an exotic feel. Be sure to take advantage of the unique outdoor shower and bathtub with hot water. Overall, our trip was extremely relaxing and romantic - we will surely plan another visit!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, pet owners, romantic getaway.

A very lovely little yurt. An incredibly comfortable bed and gorgeous tub. I always appreciate people that are very dog friendly... and that they were! Can't wait to return!Recommended for: Age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway.

We loved our stay in the Purple Yurt and our healing sessions with Catherine enriched our experience 10 fold. The outdoor shower, the tub, the fire ring for fireside chats, gourmet dinners fixed in the kitchen, I don't know if I can wait a whole year to do it again. It was awesome. We Love the Purple Yurt and our wonderful hosts.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

My husband and I came to the Purple Yurt to enjoy some relaxing, quiet time together. While we were expecting the serenity that yurts provide, we were surprised at how nicely equipped this yurt is. Everything from the linens, to the comfy bed, to the dishes was top-notch quality. Plus the location – just about as perfect as it could be! We felt like we were in a very private spot, yet Highway One was less than a 5 minute drive away, with the towns of Mendocino and Ft. Bragg equally convenient. Favorite memories: laying in the hammock in the sunshine and allowing myself the luxury of being suspended in time; walking to and from the Watsu pool and receiving healing sessions from Cathy (she is a gifted healer); lying in bed at night and seeing the stars shining through the skylight dome while hearing distant ocean waves lull us to sleep; showering in the privacy of our own backyard shower overlooking the woods…..there’s more, but you should discover this for yourselves! Helpful hints: While we enjoyed being away from TV, cell phones and the internet, (it’s spotty reception for Verizon) we found it super easy to drive into town to use our cell phones and discovered that Henry’s Pub in Mendocino has a free computer and internet access, plus we got to watch the Laker’s playoff game as a bonus. The pub food is decent too. The difficult part: packing up to leave! Cathy and Mark were excellent hosts. They are attuned to giving people the privacy that’s needed, while offering help and advice. We hope to make a visit to the Purple Yurt part of our annual vacation time, because being there nourished our bodies, minds and souls. Can’t ask for more than that!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children.

Having never stayed in a yurt we really didn’t know what to expect. We were so amazed. It was just beautiful. The interior was furnished and stocked with everything you could possibly need and the outdoor shower, also a first, was perfect. It was as if you were showering in the forest. We loved the seclusion of the ranch and peaceful energy that was felt everywhere. We had our 4 year old with us and he enjoyed this new adventure as well. Cathy, the owner, was great and full of life and welcomed our 4 year old to see her horses and feed them carrots. We have family in Mendocino and have stayed in many of the B&B’s in the area over the years. The Purple Yurt is by far our very favorite and we will go back as often as possible. If you love nature, quiet seclusion and peaceful energy this is the place to stay. Thank you to Cathy and Mark for sharing this beautiful place.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with young children.
