This was our first time to Harbor Island and we truely enjoyed the peace and quiet.The condo was very nice and clean had everything that you would need and the island is very well kept also.Lots and lots of birds to watch. Hunting Park is about a mile away its a must see. Beaufort is about 15 minutes away you need to go there also. The low country is just so beautiful! We have been using vrbo for the past 10 years and i have to say that Gloria is one of the nicest persons that we have dealt with.She is so kind and helpful.Hope to be back again in the future and book this same condo again.Thanks again Gloria!

The condo was very nice and comfortable. Much larger than I expected. I was also very shocked at exactly how close your condo was to the beach. Nothing like an early morning walk on the beach, and all the beautiful birds hidden on Harbor Island. Definitely on my favorites list when I return to visit again, and if available I will ask to rent again. A friend and I attended the Women's coastal skills clinic on Hunting Island that was all weekend. We were taught many skills, such as, shore birding, crabbing, knot tying, shrimping and many others. It was definitely an adventure packed weekend, and we loved every moment. Thank you again for the use of your condo. Till next time

A friend and I attended a Women's Coastal Skills Clinic at Hunting Island and looking for a place to stay I found this gem. Really loved the location to Hunting Island and to the beach (cannot beat the beach location for this property). Overall, very please with the stay. Long Weekend

Our family of four found time to get away for a long weekend. The condo was just right for us. Close to the beach and pool. We had a great time sitting on the beach watching the kids play. We visited nearby hunting island state park and climbed to the top of the 100+ year old lighthouse. The view from top is amazing. Lots of things we did not have time for so I'm sure we will be back.

A most enjoyable vacation. Our unit was immaculate and very well furnished. The property was well maintained with lovely landscaping. It was nice to be there at this time of year (no crowds and incredible weather). Sure hated to see the week end!

106 First Floor @ Harbor Island

Long walk over dunes to beach. Condo above us was very noisey. You could hear running, pounding, and every step taken. Would have loved to have quiet and relaxing morinings and evenings. Can't see the ocean from back balcony, but close to a small pool. Had some plumbing problems that had to be taken care of while there. Beach is wonderful, and so are the guards and employees of the Island. Bought some roach spray and killed as many as we could. Condo was fairly clean, needed a good dusting and carpet cleaning. Enjoyed the beach with my family. The Gills were easy to work with. Thanks for the rental of your property.

Owner response: My husband and I were very sorry to learn about the issues that interferred with this family's vacation enjoyment. We were also quite sorry to have learned about them after the fact. Had we known early on, we could have taken measures to reverse them. We have had overwhelmingly positive responses from renters over the years. This one is our first negative one. We address all his complaints below. The walk on the baordwalk across the dunes to the ocean takes about 90 seconds. We have attempted to describe as clearly as possible our location in relation to the beach. If we had been notified of noisy neighbors, we would have called them and asked them to make less noise. The few times this has happened in the past, the upstairs neighbors have always been glad to cooperate. We do not understand the issue of not being able to see the ocean from our deck for you can clearly see the ocean and shrimp boats working out in the bay. The renter contacted us about a toilet running and no hot water in the shower. The renter called back 10 minutes later and said she jiggled the toilet handle and the toilet stopped running. Her husband called back 5 minutes after his wife and said the screw on the shower handle was loose and after he tightened it, the hot water worked fine. We had the plumbing company go to the condo anyway to check everything out that same day. Yes, the beach and staff at Harbor Island are wonderful! We are pleased to say the island is well managed. We, too, hate roaches as much as anyone. In the south, however, roaches are part of life, unlike in the north. The Cedar Reef Villa Home Owners Association has a running contract with a pest control company who spray inside and outside of the condos every month. Additionly we put out roach traps. We have our condo professionally cleaned after each use. That is not to say that beach dust and sand do not get into our condo. We have the carpets cleaned at least once a year or when our cleaning crew recommend it to be done. We are glad that the renter still enjoyed the beach with his family and that they found us responsive to the issues they reported to us. Over the years, we have consistently received positive reviews. While we accept that we cannot control all circumstances (particularly if we are unaware they are occurring), we always attempt to do everything possible to resolve issues and ensure that renters leave having had a thoroughly enjoyable stay.

We wanted a quick getaway to the beach with our little ones before school started back & we could'nt have asked for a nicer condo or nicer people to rent from. John & Gloria are wonderful. The condo is in the perfect location and is spacious & clean! We felt like we had the beach to ourselves and we didn't want to leave. Fantastic vacation!

What a wonderful week we had while staying in your condo! This is our third year to visit Harbor Island and your condo was the best yet! It was clean, comfortable, yet beautifully decorated. Our daughter, her husband, and our three grandchildren stayed in the L building. Their condo was directly across from yours, which was so convenient for the three little ones to make their way over! We cooked most of the meals in your condo, and even though it is a one bedroom, the living/dining area had so much room - and the dining table (octagon shape) could easily handle 8-9 adults around it when we had a few other guests to arrive for dinner! The location was perfect and we certainly enjoyed the deck facing the pool! The week was filled with most of our time spent on the beach taking walks, the pool/poolside,visiting downtown Beaufort (which is absolutely beautiful) and just plain relaxing in your wonderful home! We will definitely return to your condo again!

Gloria, We have fallen in love with that part of the world. Your condo had everything we needed for our stay. We enjoyed 2 sunrises, and a few very long walks on the beach in the evening. It is just glorious in that part of the world. Your condo was perfect in every way. We wanted for nothing! We loved the area so much that we are thinking it may be the ideal spot to bring the lovely Madeleine Brady as her new home. Girl's Weekend at the Beach

I met up with a friend from North Carolina, and we spent a long weekend at this lovely condo on Harbor Island. The condo is very cozy and has everything one could need - in an absolutely beautiful setting, too. It was a very warm late September, and we took advantage of the spectacular beach nearby, where we wound up swimming with the dolphins and watching some magnificent flocks of birds. There are lots of great restaurants nearby, including a little roadhouse that features the absolute best fried food I have ever eaten! Beaufort is a just a short drive away, and there's lots to see and do there, too. However, we had a hard time tearing ourselves away from Harbor Island. If you're looking for some quiet, relaxing time at the beach, this is the way to go. I hope to return to Harbor Island in the not-too-distant future, and I will keep my fingers crossed that this lovely little condo is available!

Your condo was wonderful, perfect for the 4 of us. Very clean and nicely decorated. We had never stayed on Harbor Island before but camped on Hunting a couple summers ago. We really enjoyed it. It was nice to have the boardwalk right @ the condo but I liked the one a couple over that didn't have steps so it was easy to wheel my daughters wheel chair to the beach.Having a pool literally right at the back door was great as well as the other two pools. The kids loved the kiddie pool @ the raquet club. I will definately keep your info so that I can contact you again when we go back there. Thanks for being so helpful and easy to work with.

My family and I stayed at this condo for one week in July and it was great. It was very clean and exactly what we expected. The beach was close by and was private and very nice. The pool is so close you can even see it from the back balcony! There is also a state park about 5 minutes up the road that was beautiful. Great secluded location!

We had a very enjoyable and relaxing time. We like to do our own cooking so a fully equipped kitchen was certainly a bonus! Spent one day in Savannah, another in Beaufort and the rest of the time, reading and walking on the beach. Just what we needed! P.S. While in Savannah, we did a walking tour of the city with Savannah Dan - left his card on the frig. We can highly recommend him to anyone who's visiting in the area. Just a great guide, so full of stories and very funny!

Everything was absolutely fantastic! It was a get away that we didn't want to leave. The condo was perfect and made for a very nice and pleasant stay. My husband and I rented this condo when I was 5 months pregnant. We had a great time. It was a nice relaxing trip. We really enjoyed having a pool so close to the condo. We also loved going to the beach in the evening. It was very romantic and secluded.

We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves on Harbor Island. The condo was clean and was stocked with all the amenities we needed while on our trip. It was wonderful to explore Beaufort and the surrounding areas. Because the condo is centrally located, it was easy to take day trips to Savannah and Charleston. I would definitely recommend the condo to other families looking for a quiet getaway!

If relaxing on the beach is your thing than this is the place for you. Because it is a private island the beach doesn't have a lot of people on it and the waves are not as strong as being out on the ocean because the island is intercoastal to some degree. This makes is great for kids! The people we all extremely nice and we visited several of nearby attractions. Overall, this was a great vacation, and a perfect way to just get away and relax!

My husband and I enjoyed a delightful three days staying in this marvelously comfortable and spotlessly clean condo. We loved our walks on the beach, watching the egrets, herons, and ospreys. The island is a gorgeous sanctuary, yet close enough to Beaufort and great restaurants to provide the best of both worlds. We highly recommend this piece of paradise!

Hi Gloria! I just wanted to send you a quick note to let you know how lovely your condo is and what a wonderful vacation we had! Your condo was spotless, comfortable & decorated so beautifully. I especially appreciated having a washer & dryer!Everyone is SO friendly and kind (such a contrast to Clevelanders). The entire vacation exceeded my expectations and we're looking forward to returning again (hopefully soon)!We were blessed with outstanding weather during our stay over the Easter break (sunny & warm everyday)! The main pool area by the clubhouse is just wonderful. So clean & relaxing!I enjoyed Hunting Island so much more than Hilton Head, which was just too "tourist-y" for my taste. One of THE best characteristics of this island is the location. It's private and relaxed with an unbelievable wildlife population (we saw dolphins, pelicans, alligators, turtles, numerous jellyfish, huge conch shells, crabs, etc. on a daily basis which was amazing)! But it's also close enough to Hilton Head, Beaufort & Savannah if you're looking for a little more activity. We split our time between Harbour Island & those cities, relaxing & beachcombing mixed with a little sightseeing.We also highly recommend some of the local restaurants: on Lady's Island (The Foolish Frog) & in Port Royal (Dockside) were excellent!Thank you so much for all the info you provided and for renting your beautiful condo. It was like a home away from home!In addition, it was very nicely done, and we loved looking at all of the beach memorabilia. These items obviously mean a great deal to you. Everything was perfect, including the weather! You must have ordered that as well....thank you! When we returned home our temperature here was 5 degrees with snow! We had a really wonderful time….Your condo was lovely and perfect for our needs, and the area is so pleasant and peaceful. We were able to cook most of our meals or grill, and really had a nice time looking around at area sights and playing games and visiting. It was really great to have a 'home' away from home while visiting my son so far from our own home, so much nicer than staying in a hotel. It was really great…too short, but great. Thanks for everything. It is definitely a shock to return, as minnesota winter decided to really set in on Wednesday just after we had gotten back Tuesday night….only 10 degrees here right now, with snow. Take care---Mary

Your condo was the perfect getaway for our honeymoon. We loved our stay there. I'm not sure if I mentioned it before, but my family used to own one across the street and when we had to sell it a few years back I was devistated. It felt so great to be back on the island enjoying the wildlife and the peaceful breeze! We can't wait to go back we came straight home and started checking our calendar to book another date! Our ownly regret was that we didn't book 3 nights! Thanks so much for making our honeymoon perfect by letting us rent your condo!

Dear Gloria, We did indeend have a wonderful time at your Harbor Island condo. We so appreciated the "calmness" of the whole complex. I am sure there are times of year when it is much busier, but the remoteness of Harbor Island, and Hunting Island really made them a delight to explore. We also enjoyed a day going up to Edisto Beach, and some time in the town of Beufort as well. We particularly enjoyed visiting Penn Center and learning more of the Gullah traditions. Everything was so much more peaceful and restful than the craziness of Hilton Head. I'm hoping that sometime in the next year I can get5 my husband to take a trip that direction again. The only disappointment was that it was a bit on the cool side as far as swimming was concerned. But we did enjoy walking along the beach at sunset. you were so helpful to us doing things on such short notice that I will indeed remember your kindness, and contact you first when the time comes that we head back down that direction. Thanks again.

I would like to say Thank you Gloria for making our travel plans and stay at your condo such a wonderful experience. It was such a relaxing experience for our family to enjoy the peace of the ocean and seeing our son for the first time in months. Everything about Harbor Island and your condo was such a relaxing and rewarding experience. I would highly recommend anyone traveling to Parris Island to contact Gloria she is wonderful and if her condo is not available she has many friends in the area that do have condos. The price is affordable and the beach and surrounding area is a wonderful place to remeber with your new Marine and family. Parris Island is only about 20 min drive and easy travel from the condo. Hello Gloria, first let me apologize for not writing sooner. Sometimes things get out of control, while you away. That's what has happened here. Anyway, things were super. All the months leading up to vacation, your expectations grow. Praying that you did the right planning, lodging, etc... Sometimes even stressful. Family members coming from out of state. Well, your condo was far better, than any of us could of asked for. The people at Harbor Island were the nicest staff members. Friendly, and very helpful in getting around, since the bridge accident. Everything, was what your web site stated. The pool area, the boardwalk, and the beach was wonderful. The best time is in the morning, while walking the beaches. There is an entirely new world (life) on the beach. To see the crabs, birds, and trawlers is quite an experience. Thank you for allowing us to enjoy your home, on the beach. Now when we say, lets go to the beach, or make any reference to the beach, (It won't mean Myrtle) we have a special place in our memories, and our hearts. Thank you again. We even caught a 54 pound String Ray. You just never know what we get into. We even had my 6 year old grandson with us. He was entertained with some extra chores on the boat. Shrimp Shack is the place to be for seafood. Good stuff. Steamers is excellent, (a little pricey, frogmore stew is to die for)..haha You have my permission to use any of this e-mail for your guest book comments. Dear Gloria and John, We can not thank you enough for letting us rent your beautiful condo for our trip to SC for our son graduation from Parris Island! We stayed at E-106 from Nov. 29, 2006 to Dec. 2, 2006. Our son's graduation was on Dec. 1st. Harbor Island is about a 20 minute drive to Parris Island. E-106 is VERY clean, and everything you need is right there at your finger tips! We loved walking the beach, and after graduation our son's friends were able to come and relax and catch up on being apart for 3 months. It was so nice to have a comfy place to relax in after long days walking around. Gloria is wonderful to work with. We highly recommend staying here! We would love to come back to Harbor Island someday and bring the whole gang when we can relax a little more. Thanks again to Gloria and John! Please feel free to email me with any questions! Thank you so much for allowing us to stay in your condo. It is beautiful, well taken care of, stocked with the essentials and has easy access to the beach and multiple pools. My husand and I and our two kids (13 & 7) spent the week relaxing, eating out and shopping. After an extremly busy first part of the year, it was so nice to come to a condo that was set up for anything (cooking, sleeping, watching movies or reading). Our family went to the drive-in while we were down there...that was an experience. I recommend it, since it only costs $10.00 for two adults and two children. But remember to bring your OFF spray. We also ate at some wonderful restaurants...Barbara Jeans was our families favorite, then the Shrimp Shack and The Upper Crust. All of them were wonderful. Thank you again for allowing us to stay and we will be back! The Sissom Family

Gloria & John , We were very fortunate to find your name and number on the ezboard while our son Dennis was attending USMC boot camp.I would like to thank you both for letting our family stay in such a beautiful condo. After long days at Parris Island it was a joy to come back and relax in the villa . We arrived at the condo after 1 am and left for Parris Island to catch the moto run at 5:30 am and returned back to the condo after 9 pm. It wasn't till Friday morning that I saw the surrounding area in the light of day. The views were breath taking ,we spent most of the afternoon taking a long walk on the beach. We went to our son's graduation from USMC, Parris Island S.C., The villa we stayed in, Gloria Gill's was just a perfect place for us to stay the accomodations were ideal for our needs, everything we needed was there for us, the surroundins were breathtaking, and the hospitality of the owners was classic "southern hospitality", If anyone has the honor that we did to see there son graduate from the USMC, I recommend that you speak with Gloria, or for any other reason to be in the surrounding area, you will be more than satisfied. Gloria: Today I wanted to make it a point to write and tell you how much we enjoyed our accommodations at Harbor Island. Your condo is lovely and quite comfortable. I never made it into the pool--although it looked quite inviting. My son and my nephew enjoyed it though. I did make it a point to take a walk on the beach a couple of times. It was absolutely lovely! After spending a hectic couple of days between Family Day and Graduation at Parris Island, I really wish we had come down earlier or stayed longer. I would have loved to spend more time in the peace and quiet at Harbor Island. I took a few of your business cards and will be sure to spread the word that it was a great place to stay.

Dear Mr. & Mrs. Gill, Our family would like to thank you for our wonderful stay in your condo while we attended our sons graduation from the Marines Bootcamp. It was nice to be able to get away from the hustle and bustle of Parris Island but also be near enough for easy access!
