Great condo near the beach
Great condo near the beach
Had a great three-night stay here at the end of October with a couple friends (3 people total). We really liked that this condo was right across the street from Kailua Beach Park and just a short drive from Kailua (about a 5-10 min drive). Condo was very clean and comfortable and we enjoyed the outdoor patio area. A couple notes: As indicated in the property description, the unit does not have an oven (really not an issue for us - just something to be aware of). Also, there was some street noise, but it didn't really bother us.

The listing was accurate regarding the location and the photos accurately reflected the rental's appearance and amenities. The property was clean and well-maintained. The owner answered all questions. I would recommend this property to friends and family members. With the above formalities aside. It is serene on Kailua Beach compared to the traffic and wall to wall tourist in Waikiki. This location is great for kicking back and relaxing. Kailua Beach is stunning. Long stretches of white sand, gentle surf for swimming and sand castle building. The Hokulea was anchored for two days on its trip around the islands gathering mana from the aina before starting its world voyage. What a special treat to observe the consecration ceremonies and swim to get aboard to tour the vessel. There is traffic due to the unit's proximity to the beach. The unit's windows insulate most of the noise. Everyone seems to be up and about early (5:30 a.m. to catch sunrise, joggers in the park at 6:00 a.m., lot's of people walking dogs or swimming before work). If you need civilization, the trip into downtown Honolulu is under a half an hour and you can chose driving through the Pali with rainforest vegetation or in the other direction, wending along the stunning coastline. Yes, downtown Kailua has Starbucks, Whole Foods, Jamba Juice and Macy's but it also has local stops such as Agnes Portuguese Bakery and Fighting Eel. Is there anything that this unit did not have? A salad spinner and sharp cutting/steak knives. But this is minor. We made most of our meals and grilled once. The kitchen is stocked with dishes, pots and pans, flatware. There were lots of paper products, towels, cold pack in the freezer. We were able to do our laundry. This is handy if you go to the beach every day. The ventilation was impressive. The choices: natural air, ceiling fan, or air conditioning. Even the fold down sofa was comfortable! We loved our accomodations and would stay here again in a heartbeat!

Awesome Stay in Kailua
Awesome Stay in Kailua
We saw the great reviews about this place and they were all true!!! You can see the beach from the kitchen window and it's a one minute walk to the beach - and what a beach. You can literally walk for mile upon mile on golden sands - awesome! David (the owner) lives upstairs and was very communicative in all his emails. There is a washer and dryer, beach chairs, patio and gas grill available to use. The apartment has a full kitchen and is completely furnished. Soft sheets, towels and beach towels are all available. There is a large screen tv and lots of DVDs and VHS tapes to choose from - we just had to watch the movie Pearl Harbour after visiting the USS Missouri and Arizona memorial at Pearl Harbour. There is a Safeway, Foodland and Whole Foods a short drive away. Thank you for a wonderful place to stay David. We would certainly recommend your place to family and friends and will come back again one day.

My in depth research and on location scouting led me to this property. I had great expectations and they were beyond fulfilled. This is an absolutely stunning location and clean facility. From the grill to the full kitchen to the little things such as provided surf board and beach chairs, i am nothing short of very satisfied. David is a great communicator and conveys instructions clearly, he is there when you need him but also ensures your privacy. I have already recommended the location to others and this will be my go to lodging for future trips. Walking distance from Kailua and Lanikai beach, pill boxes hike, local corner store and local shopping and dining like Bob's Pizza. Zippy's is a short 5 min drive or a good walk if you're willing. Gorgeous view, a great home away from home, and a terrific owner to work with. This is how you experience Hawai'i. Much mahalos to David. Aloha

We stayed in this beautiful rental for 12 days. It was exactly as shown in the photos and description - very clean! It is directly across the street (2 lane road) from Kailua Beach Park. Looking out the kitchen window you can actually see the ocean through the trees. The kitchen is well equipped and there is a gas grill on the lanai which we used one evening. The bed was very comfortable. David was a good host and even came down to check on us when the power went out one evening. We would definitely stay there again if it is available.

Owner response: Hello Jim and Phyllis again, I'm glad to hear you enjoyed your stay and appreciate the kind words. Hope to see you in the near future. Dave
Our family were able to pass the highest vacation. A house is just in front of Kailua Beach Park, and was able to go to the beach with only one towel. Amenity was very considerate. The device for a traveler to pass comfortably was felt everywhere. I would like to also visit a family travel next year.

LOCATION - LOCATION - LOCATION!!!
LOCATION - LOCATION - LOCATION!!!
I came to Honolulu on business and opted to spend the first half of the trip in Kailua. Since I decided to bring my mom and toddler along, it was important to get a spot that allowed for the comfort and amenities of home while being close to the beach. This wonderful condo delivers on all accounts. Owner was very proactive in providing key information for our arrival and was very accommodating when it came to ensuring we have a comfortable stay. The condo is spacious, and EXTREMELY clean, which is always a concern when you have a toddler that picks up everything off of the floor. There is a brand new queen mattress in the bedroom that made for a good night's sleep, and the futons were comfortable too! But I think the claim to fame for this condo is the location. You truly can't beat it. The view from the kitchen window is Kailua park and just beyond is Kailua beach, which is absolutely stunning. It is an easy 1 minute walk to both and the condo provides all the amenities for you to enjoy a day at either - beach towels, chairs, cooler, boogie boards, beach toys, etc. Buzz's Steak and Seafood is a 3 minute walk and you are a short car or bike ride to the local market or downtown Kailua. What was also a wonderful surprise was Lanikai beach. This is also a short drive or 15 minute walk to one of the most spectacular beaches I have ever seen. And if you're lucky, you might even see a few sea turtles bobbing around. If you are looking for location, then this is the place to pick! Thank you for opening your home and providing a wonderful place for people to enjoy their holiday!

Great location, right across Kailua beach park! Owners real nice and discreet. Everything you need for the beach or day escapades is there ( cooler, beach towels, chairs, etc.) Appartment is really confortable, you feel like it's your own. Only negative is the "ditch" in the middle of the bed when you sleep two..; not very confortable so I ended on the second sofa bed for a couple of nights. All in all, I still recommend this place and would go back myself. We had a wonderful week on Ohahu island! Paradise.... Not to forget mentionning: 5 minutes walk to fabulous Lanikai beach!!! Thank you very much to the owners!

Perfect place in paradise!
Perfect place in paradise!
What a great place! Literally right across the street to the park. Kailua is beautiful, less crowded than Waikiki and so ideal for water sports ( kite surfing, wind surfing, kayaking, etc). The unit was very clean and private. The owners live upstairs but we felt like we had the place to ourselves. It was equipped with beach chairs, towels, BBQ and had a washer & dryer. David and his wife were so accommodating and such very nice people. I will definitely return and would highly recommend.

My husband and I chose this rental for our honeymoon, because of it's close proximity to the beach and amenities. We loved it! It was only a 3 minute walk to the beach and the owner supplies beach toys, towels, etc. The rental was beautiful, clean and fully stocked. I saw a few comments about the bed being uncomfortable before going and was a bit worried as my husband has a bad back, but it was firm and actually great for our backs. The bbq area was really nice and private and the outside shower and laundry room seemed to only be used by us as well. My only bother was the shower. It took a long time to warm up, wasn't very strong and didn't have a removable shower head. It definitely isn't enough to deter us from coming back though! Thanks for everything!!!
