Loon Lake (Franklin County) lodge description
Enjoy a wonderful week or a relaxing long weekend in a rustic Adirondack Lodge. Our camp was designed and constructed with large open spaces, plenty of glass and natural materials from the adirondacks modeled after the great camps from the late 1800s. We made sure the modern day features enjoyed today and find necessary are also incorporated into the lodge.
Loon Lake and the Loon Lake House was the destination of 3 US Presidents which made it their summer white house in the late 1800s. Many of the NYC old families would come by train and spend the summer swimming and boating on Loon Lake. The NY Central railroad extended the tracks into Loon Lake and constructed a train station for arriving and departing guests. Today the rail line is used for biking in the summer and snowmachines in the winter. Majestic boathouses built in the late 1800s are now private camps and are still on the shoreline.
Enjoy our large stone wood burning fireplace indoors with plenty of firewood available to help excape, unwind and relax from everyday life. There is nothing like sitting in front of a crackling fire, talking, enjoying an adult beverage. The lodge is furnished with adirondack and camp furniture. Hickory, oak and pine dining and sitting furniture, along with cedar log beds are used in the lodge rooms. Taxidermy Birds, fish and mammals/animals help set the mood. All are also seen around the area in real life. Large deck with adirondack chairs, dining table, log chairs and gas grill (we provide the propane) look out at Bass lake and the mountains. Enjoy the screened cottage attached to the deck. Listen to the loons, owls, birds and other wildlife. We have a two person canoe and kayak for you to use along with paddles and PFDs. Boat and swim down at Hodge Bay on Loon Lake a short walk just down the road. Hike or bike the many trails marked in and around the Loon Lake area.
All linens, towels and bedding are provided. We also provide paper products for the kitchen and baths, laundry supplies for the washer and drier and cleaning items for the dishwasher and dishes. The kitchen is stocked with all the pots, pans, dishes and tools needed to prepare a snack or a meal. Microwave, stove, refrigerator-freezer and dishwasher are provided. Washer and dryer are here for your use. 2 flatscreen HD televisions with satelite service, dvd player and a stereo along with wireless speakers are available for your enjoyment. Wi-fi will keep you connected if its necessary. Enjoy your morning coffee out in the screen room as you use your laptop or smart phone to check your email.

Didn't want to leave from here
Didn't want to leave from here
We spent the most enjoyable week here. The photos don't do house justice - everybody was pleasantly surprised how nice the interior was. There was enough space for the whole party to be together, and for people to be on their own when they felt like it. We also didn't expect how private the location is - the house is on a small road marked 'Dead End' (which it's not :)) - keeps traffic to practically none. The lake is a short walk from the house; this was not an issue or annoyance even after a week of going back and forth :) Saranac Lake is 25 minutes away - we went there couple of times to re-supply the food and for kids to try stand up paddling. There's Donnelly's ice cream about 15 minute away by car - do a web search. There are hiking trails within walking distance, also State Park about 10-15 minutes by car if you want a more challenging mountain. Fish in the lake, blueberries on the shore and in the forest... Great vacation

We recently spent a week at Moose Lodge and even though we had been looking at the website photos for many months...we were totally amazed as we entered! The Lodge is tastefully decorated, perfectly appointed, well laid out and clean!!! I was dubbed the 'hero' of the week for finding the place. We especially loved the screened in veranda (complete with space heater) on cool mornings and the deck with an evening fire. The cabin is surrounded by woods and very private adding to the charm of an already perfect Lodge. As if all of this were not enough..... the owners also supply the paper products, laundry detergent, dish soap, linens, firewood and more. Their attention to detail in both the interior and exterior space is exemplary. We never like to stay at the same place twice but are already making plans to break that long standing family 'rule'!!

A Slice of Heaven!
A Slice of Heaven!
From the moment we opened the door of Moose Lodge it was breath taking. The week stay was peaceful, relaxing and everything you could ever ask for. Although the lodge is not on the lake we enjoyed the privacy of deck that you would not get being on the water. The lodge is furnished with everything that you need and much more, so don’t waste the time packing unnecessary items (like I did) because the owners have thought of everything. The lodge is pet friendly; our dog went swimming everyday, which is only a short walk down the road. Kayaking on Loon Lake was one of natures amazing gifts, just to see and hear the loons are something to experience. Don’t forget your fishing poles, there are some nice Bass to be caught, that is if you can get up before the roasters and get to the “honey hole”. Our only regret is that we only rented the lodge for one week!

Owner response: We are so glad that you enjoyed your stay. I think I'll bring a couple of fishing poles to the lodge for our guests to use. Hope we see you again.

Best kept secret of Loon Lake
Best kept secret of Loon Lake
I almost hesitate to go public and tell all of you about this jewel of a rental near Loon Lake. As someone who collects rustic furniture, I appreciated the exquisite decorating and comfort this house provides. Moose Lodge is more like a good hotel than someone's second home. Great sheets, comfortable beds, two bathrooms with slate floors and basin sinks. Everything is first class. The homeowners truly love the Adirondack Mountains and it really comes through in their home. The ONLY thing it lacks is It is not directly on the water. However it's an easy downhill walk to Loon Lake, and the homeowner's canoe is kept lakeside. The home owner was extremely helpful as I planned our trip. She gave me details about what the kitchen did and did not have, and information about the area. We had a wonderful week and look forward to returning again in the future.

Really enjoyed this place!
Really enjoyed this place!
My husband & I stayed here and had a wonderful time! The house is very clean and well-maintained. It is a great place to relax and enjoy the beautiful Adirondack's. My husband really enjoyed taking the kayak out on the lake and hiking on the many trails. The owners were very helpful in giving us many recommendations for nice restaurants nearby. We were lucky enough to meet "Moose" at check-in and on the way home from dinner one night we saw a "real moose" walk across the street in front of us! We would definitely recommend this property to anyone looking for an enjoyable vacation in the Adirondack's. We hope to return again soon.
