Our Chocolate Cottage host is most charming and professional. This second visit again met all of our expectations for peace and quiet and is so convenient. We would recommend either of our host's properties to anyone visiting Courtenay. A flat screen TV and updated sofa would further compliment the the property and really 'wow' future guests. For outdoor enthusiasts, the sky is the limit and foodies will find no less than 6 exceptional eateries in town. Thanks again for a memorable visit to Vancouver Island.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

I rented Chocolate Cottage for a month and I wished I could have stayed longer but it was booked solid and I can certainly see why!!! I want to share with others about this little gem as I'm sure they will want to return time and time again. It has all the comforts of home and then some! I loved the beautiful chandlier in the bedroom - nice touch! The interior is spotless and the grounds are so well kept, it's a really peaceful place. It was nice to sit on the patio - so private with the huge trees that surround the property and lots of flowers to admire. The location is so convenient to everything. Walking distance for groceries, downtown shops - it's pretty central to everything. Maureen is the ultimate host....she definitely goes out of her way to ensure you are enjoying your stay. Be sure to look at her bulletin board she has some suggestions of places to eat (she highly recommended "Atlas" for a place to eat and I have to agree with her the food is incredible!) And if you like Latin dancing you must go to "The Bridge" - another one of her recommendations of things to do in the valley. The beaches are merely a 5 to 10 minute drive from the cottage depending which one you go to. I'll go back to Chocolate Cottage in a heart beat!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, people with disabilities, tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

We were in Courtenay for three nights only but thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Chocolate Cottage. It was tempting to just hang around the cottage and small garden, which provided both sunlight and shade throughout the day, but we had things to do too! Our host recommended a couple of parks to visit and we were not disappointed. Paradise Meadows in Strathcona Park is absolutely beautiful. Apart from a couple of forays out of town, we parked the car and walked everywhere else as it's an easy stroll to downtown and other neighbourhoods. Had a wonderful lunch at Locals, and Rhodos, located next door, makes a consistently good espresso/americano. Would also suggest the farmers' market on Saturday mornings (discovered a gluten-free baker there who makes excellent product, best on the island in my opinion). Chocolate Cottage is comfortable, clean and private, close to everything and yet quiet too. Recommended.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Chocolate Cottage was a true haven of relaxation and joy for our family. Maureen's kindness and professionalism surpassed all the other cottage owners we came across in our travels. Chocolate Cottage has everything a family needs; comfortable sleeping arrangements, glorious deep bathtub with a sky-light in the bathroom for soaking under the stars, lovely deck and garden, parking, full fridge and stove...the list goes on and on. We adored walking around the neighborhood, the whole area is so quaint and beautiful. We didn't want to leave!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, people with disabilities, tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

Fantastic cottage and an ideal base for exploring the Comox Valley. Must do's - hire mountain bikes, cycle Nymph Falls trails, Denman & Hornby Islands, Sea Kayaking at Quadra Island and Rebeccas Spit, Saturday Farmers Market, Beach Combing at Kin Beach, Lazo, Miracle Beach & Goose Spit. Great dining at Yamato Sushi, The Old House, Tita's Mexican, Atlas Cafe, Union Street Grill and Michaels off Main. About the owner: I returned to my hometown of Courtenay from Victoria to be near my large extended family and to enjoy a simpler lifestyle which includes gardening, biking, rafting on the Puntledge River and spending time relaxing on our porch! I am passionate about dancing and enjoy Latin, Ballroom and Salsa with my husband and large network of dance friends. Favorite places we travel are to Europe and Mexico where we have enjoyed great stays at other VRBO properties. It gives me great please to host our guests at blueberry cottage and chocolate cottage, our two private Vacation Home Rentals in Courtenay.
