A perfect location in Cambridge and the Eastern Shore for family, families, or a group of friends vacationing, or attending special events in Cambridge or nearby historic communities such as St. Michaels, Oxford and Easton.

Our large, fully updated smoke-free home is located in the West End Historic District within walking distance of the downtown shops, restaurants, museums, Long Wharf Marina featuring the Choptank River Lighthouse and Great Marsh Park (riverfront park with picnic shelters, boat ramp, small sand beach and site of Eagleman Triathlon). We are located just three blocks from the Choptank River, which offers outstanding boating, sailing and fishing off of the old Choptank River bridge.

You are welcomed to our home by the wrap-around porch with a wicker swing and lots of wicker seating in the open area as well as a screened-in section with additional seating, a dining table and ceiling fans. The beautiful entryway is notable for its three story stairway with original chestnut wood details that continue throughout the home. The main floor includes an updated and equipped kitchen with island seating, a living room with pocket doors and a large dining room that features a table which opens up to nine feet for large groups. In addition there is a half bath with a full laundry.

The second floor offers three bedrooms - two with queen beds and one with a double bed, an office and two fully updated baths, one of which is en suite. The bedroom with the en suite bath also has an alcove large enough for a blow-up bed or playpen/crib. The third floor includes two bedrooms - one with a double bed and one with a double and a twin, and an updated bathroom.

The house features wireless high-speed internet and cable TV in the kitchen and living room, including a DVD player in the living room. The back yard is fenced in with a patio and small porch off the kitchen.

Cambridge is a charming “Main Street” community with great restaurants (many featuring local fresh seafood), unique shops and art galleries. Museums include the recently completed Harriet Tubman Museum and the Richardson Maritime Museum, as well as the Sailwinds Visitors’ Center with adjacent park and sandy beach.

The arts are well represented by the Dorchester Center for the Arts and many downtown art galleries. In addition, nearby towns offer attractions such as the excellent Maritime Museum in St. Michaels and the beautifully restored art-deco Avalon Theatre offering year-round live entertainment in Easton.

For nature lovers, Dorchester County abounds with opportunities for hiking, kayaking, cycling, bird watching, hunting and fishing. The Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge offers all of these activities in one location, with a visitors center, an environmental education building and the second largest population of bald eagles on the East Coast.

For biking enthusiasts our home is conveniently located for you to participate in Blackwater Duathlon, CheapeakeMan Endurance Festival, Eagleman Ironman 70.3 Triathlon, Heart of Chesapeake Ride, Six Pillars Century Cycling Event, Trek in the Neck, Vineyard Dash, Wild Goose Chase Women’s Cycling Event and more events in Dorchester and surrounding counties.

Enjoy a leisurely sail on the Skipjack Nathan at Cambridge’s Long Wharf or head over to the Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay Golf Resort, Spa and Marina for a round on the links, boating and both fine and casual dining on the riverfront. Atlantic Ocean beaches are just an hour away.

The most lovely, welcoming, comfortable home I have ever rented through VRBO. Attention to every detail; it was the fantasy vacation home I had always wanted. Comfortable, tucked in and spacious all at once...tastefully decorated for the holidays (thank you) and lacking for nothing in the gourmet kitchen. It was the perfect respite for an exhausted seminarian...thank you so much for welcoming us into your home. Well located for bird watching and nature loving at the Blackwater Refuge; if it hadn't been so cold would have been some great biking around; lovely small village of Cambridge with surprisingly wonderful restaurants and cute shops.

Our family rented this wonderful home for seven days in order to attend a nearby wedding. Having recently rented a home outside the country which was a disapointment we were not sure what to expect with this stay. We were so pleasantly surprised to find a beautiful home that was well appointed and met all of our expectations and then some. The home was well supplied with towels, the kitchen was large and well stocked and the rooms were excellent. We can not say enough about our stay and look forward a future stay.

My husband and I traveled with another couple to Cambridge for a quick weekend getaway where we could just relax. We have trouble finding places to stay sometimes as we often like to take our cocker spaniel with us. This house was just wonderful for our relaxing weekend. The house was lovely and perfect for several couples - and what a great place if you are bringing your four-legged friend along! The backyard is fenced and we could let her out to have some fun. The house was lovely and quite comfortable. The location was awesome - close to things to do and close enough to the beach (Ocean City and Rehoboth) that you could easily do a day trip - and we did! The owners were great to deal with and quite helpful with finding things to do and places to eat. We loved our stay here and will certainly stay here again when we head back to this area.

Very happy with this house! It was as beautiful as the pictures showed, and it was well stocked for the few things we forgot. Would definitely return if returning to the area.

Owner response: We were glad to be able to accommodate your last minute booking for the softball tournament in Salisbury. Glad the house was comfortable for your needs and that the girls placed well in the tournament!

Six of us stayed for a weekend to conclude our year of volunteering in Washington, DC. We loved the convenience of walking to dinner at Snapper's, where we enjoyed the outdoor seating along the water, and a day at the beach in Ocean City only an hours drive away. We also walked into town to check out some of the Taste of Cambridge activities and indulged in a stop at Gina's Ice Cream and Sweet Shoppe. We utilized the spacious kitchen to make a couple meals together and absolutely loved the house. Thank you for a great stay! - DC Gals

"A holiday to remember - had the pleasure of spending a wonderful week in Cambridge this past New Years. No two days alike, albeit each in easy reach, while the mild weather set the stage for exploring: hiking & biking at Blackwater Wildlife Refuge, a sojourn to the big bright waters of Hooper's island (and Oysters from the front porch of local watermen); a day of wandering in charming historic Oxford; shopping and casual dining in uptown Cambridge! The pictures capture the simple and elegant grace of this beautiful home - so many spaces of comfort and nooks to enjoy. For a cooking enthusiast, the well equipped kitchen was a wonderful and welcomed feature. The warm decor and architecture of this home; the charming surroundings of Cambridge itself and the neighboring villages made for a wonderful 5 day get away. More to explore … next time."

My husband and I along with two of our friends stayed at this beautiful home last August. The home itself is very well appointed with all of the amenities you could possibly need - you feel like you are staying in your own home. The screened in porch is great to have a meal and glass of wine in and relaxing on the porch swing with a cup of coffee is a great way to start the day. We only used 2 of the bedrooms but they are all great sizes and the bathrooms are all nicely done. The entire house's decor is so inviting and charming. The kitchen was well equipped for cooking and there are so many different options as to where you can eat your meals - inside and out! The location is great because you can walk to the downtown area and it's an easy drive to St. Michaels. We also went to the Hyatt hotel for drinks on the water one night which was great too. I would highly recommend this home to any vacationer!

About the owner: We are empty nesters with a daughter in DC and a son near Philly. We live in central New Jersey, but our work gives us the flexibility to get away and enjoy the Eastern Shore.

              Why the Owner Chose Cambridge:
What drew us to Cambridge? The relaxed lifestyle of the community and surrounding Eastern Shore, with its extensive waterfront and natural rural areas, historic charm and friendly folks. The town has seen an influx of great restaurants and shops as it has undergone revitalization in recent years. And it offers quick access to other historic Eastern Shore towns and easy day trips to Annapolis, Baltimore, Washington, DC, Atlantic beaches and Assateague Island. We also took the opportunity to buy and restore an antique cabin cruiser, fulfilling a long-time dream.
