The property was clean and comfortable and really well located for exploring the high peaks region. The village of Keen Valley had a great vibe. The owners and the neighbors were very welcoming and super helpful. We had a great time!Recommended for: Families with young children.

We stayed at Chickadee house for 5 nights at the end of the summer and loved its location- near Lake Placid, near Mt Marcy, and just down the road from the Diner and the Farm Market. It is very clean, Kinna and the caretaker were very helpful, and the kitchen was well-stocked for all the cooking we did. We swam at Coperas Pond, hiked up to the Flowed Lands at Mt Marcy, canoed on the Saranac Lakes (we saw Loons!) and shopped and lunched in Lake Placid. We loved getting fresh eggs and milk at the Farm Market. The house backs up to deep woods, so lots of birds, including the drumming of a Pileated Woodpecker. Mornings on the back deck are lovely. The only down side is the proximity to the highway, so lots of traffic sounds at peak traffic times. Great place to see wild life, we saw deer and fox driving in. Overall, a wonderful place.Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with young children, pet owners, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, tourists without a car.

We had an awesome time at Chickadee House. Right in our favorite town in the Adirondacks, it was walking distance to restaurants, shops, our favorite pie (Noonmark Diner) and fresh fruits/veggies practically next door (Rivermede Farm). The house was spotlessly clean, bright & airy & open. Only negative was that it was close to the road but we didn't mind. Fabulous house for Adirondack lovers who want to be in town. We would definitely stay here again. Hope to be back next summer! Thanks!Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with young children, pet owners, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, tourists without a car, age 55+, girls getaway.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2004
About the owner: Kinna Ohman and Gene Leone are involved with natural building as well as the natural care and training of animals (they have 4 horses, 7 sheep, and 2 border collies).
Why the Owner Chose Keene:
Kinna Ohman purchased this property as her main home in 2004. She loved the fact she could live in the midst of the Adirondack High Peaks, while being two doors away from Rivermede Farm Store (with the farm itself located just a mile away). She finds the community of Keene Valley to be a vibrant place to be!
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
Kinna Ohman loved living here and exploring the local trails (whether along creeks or up mountains), eating great food at the Noonmark Diner and Ausable Inn, and enjoying the local communities of Lake Placid, Saranac Lake, and Tupper Lake.
