Set up a base for your Midcoast activities in this spacious, sunny in-town New Englander. Home retains original charm throughout its fully renovated sunny rooms. Well stocked kitchen with attached sunroom overlooking the garden may be the focal point of family activities, but could be rivaled by the large living room with two couches and entertainment center. Opportunities to unwind abound, including three bedrooms, 'reading nook' at the top of the stairs, the covered front porch or even the sunny laundry/exercise room. Bath's many amenities are only steps away: an 8-minute walk to the west will bring you to the shopping center, while a 10-minute walk to the east will bring you to Bath's thriving downtown Main Street. This street includes one of Maine's best stores for cooks. The sunny kitchen will be an excellent place to experiment with the cookbooks and ingredients you may find there, and you should feel free to use herbs from the gourmet garden outside your window and the spices from the spice cabinet. Bath is truly an excellent base point for exploring the Midcoast. Opportunities for mushroom foraging, hiking, beachcombing, fishing, shopping, and many other activities abound within an easy drive, and many are within an easy walk.
Master bedroom includes new memory foam king bed, air conditioning (window unit) and satellite TV. Also large closet and bureau. Second bedroom includes full bed, two dressers and closet. Third bedroom includes full size bed, bookcase and closet. Full bathroom upstairs includes large shower with separate clawfoot tub. Laundry room with folding table and storage area on first floor. First floor also has half bath off the living room.

When my friends and I arrived at Togue's home, we were surprised by how big and homey it was! We were welcomed with a pack of beer and a sweet note from Togue, and we were pleasantly surprised by all the amenities available to us, including Netflix on the TV! With 8 people, this house was the perfect size for our group and everyone loved it. It was close to downtown Bath and was right down the street from our favorite cafe, Mae's, and it was decently close to Freeport. There is even a small garden in the back of the house that had green onions and mint! Aside from creaky floors upstairs and bathroom doors that didn't really shut all the way, the house was beautiful on the inside! Overall, the house was very nice and we really enjoyed our stay there!Recommended for: Families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, age 55+.
Owner response: Thank you for your kind review. I wish the weather was better this spring, as there would have been a lot more in the garden (I'll be planting it fully next week now that it's finally sunny!). I'll have a carpenter come plane the doors down in the bathrooms so they shut more easily. Sorry about that - I never actually noticed it. Thanks very much again!

The house was exactly as pictured, just a short walk to downtown to get coffee or ice cream. Had breakfast on the corner at Maes one morning, staff was friendly and the food was good. Brought my 88 year old Grandmother with us as well as my 13 year old daughter. The house had plenty of space for entertaining family for dinner as well. Definitely a house I would come back to.Recommended for: Pet owners, tourists without a car, sightseeing.

Very comfortable house, conveniently located in the heart of Bath, well appointed kitchen, great vegetable garden, the whole house overflowing with charm. Only drawback is the swish of cars from Rte 1 that you can hear in the back bedroom. A goof strong fan helps to drown this out. The owner is a pleasure to do business with--promptly responsive to all our needs. We had a great week there.Recommended for: Pet owners, tourists without a car, families with young children, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing, age 55+.
Owner response: Thank you for your review. I'll actually be installing a small air conditioner in the back bedroom so people can be comfortably cool without having to keep the windows open. This should correct the noise issue. Again, I'm glad you enjoyed your stay and were able to reap some of the vegetable bounty from the garden!

About the owner: My expertise is in fisheries management. I managed Maine's scallop fishery for several years, and now work as an independent consultant in fisheries, as well as working to promote Maine scallops and improve the economic viability of Maine's scallop fishery. I also round this out by waiting tables at a waterfront bar in Portland. One of my favorite hobbies is mushroom foraging, and the summer of 2011 was amazing!
Why the Owner Chose Bath:
This home offers the benefits of the Midcoast while being an easy commute to Portland, Freeport, Augusta and Rockland. It's extremely sunny (that's why I bought it), with a kitchen/sitting area that's a great place to entertain.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Easy drive to Portland, Rockland, Freeport, Boothbay, and quick walk to Bath's charming downtown. The home is extremely sunny, but also gets excellent breezes because of the way it's laid out.
