Not a wonderful start to our vacation. The owners tried to be very accomodating but unfortunately fell short. PROS Good location close to Palm Beach Clean Low price Owner did not charge us a cancellation fee since we had booked 4 nights but left after one. CONS Only room that is air conditioned is the bedroom and we arrived to find it not working. He promptly had a repair person come out but it was not fixed during our stay which led to a very hot uncomfortable night. We had to leave the doors and windows open which resulted in very little sleep and numerous bug bites. I feel that the owner should have turned the ac unit on prior to our arrival to make sure that it was in working order. We were so uncomfortable, we left at 6:30 am. Bathroom is VERY SMALL and hot with no fan or outlet for hair dryer, flat iron etc. so it's very difficult for a woman to get ready since there is no other mirror in the entire apt. I was told by the owner that this was quite common in the islands but I have to disagree since I have traveled extensively and this has never been an issue before. We only used the toilet a couple of times during our stay but it came very close to overflowing every time. There is no privacy since you have to keep the doors and windows open so that you can breathe and get a breeze. The windows and doors look into the main house. 2 sweet small dogs on the property. They're very nice but they run out and bark every time you enter or exit the property. If you are allergic, this could be an issue for you.

Manager response: Dear James, dear Donnetta, First of all, we are glad you travelled to Aruba together (despite your e-mail about the break-up), and that you were able to find a suitable accommodation for the remainder of your getaway. We wondered whether your advanced stage of discomfort could possibly have triggered you to cancel your vacation. I would first like to apologize for the Airco problem you had experienced. As you well know, we got a new A/C installed a day prior to your arrival. We blindly trusted that the technician would know how to install his 100th + unit, and that he would check it before he would leave. Lesson learned! I strongly disagree with your complaint that there is no A/C in the Living Room, and I suggest you to carefully read the description before booking your vacation accommodation. Guests always tremendously appreciate the constant flow of island breeze throughout the unit. But if the A/C was on the priority list for your Caribbean vacation, we’re happy you managed to stay at a hotel. In regards to the bathroom exhaust fan, you are well aware that it was connected once you complained it wasn’t working. And we have already pulled an electrical line and installed a plug right by the sink. Donnetta could now blow and iron her hair without any problem. We appreciate the suggestion…. Thanks to our 2 small dogs we are sleeping with open doors & windows, as we know they bark when someone strange enters our property. Probably they would not have considered you strange if you would have stayed for the time that was agreed. With best regards from ‘One Happy Island’, Philipp & Graciela Real
