We love the fact that our house is located on a canal and only a short walk to the beach ( 2 blocks) . We love being on the canal for more reasons than one- the main being that we can dock our boat right at the house . The Intra Coastal Waterway is only a 7 minute boat ride from the house. Sometimes we take the boat south to Myrtle Beach , S.C.- about 45 minutes- or north to Southport N. C. ( an historical fishing village with some unique shops - about 60 minutes . Lots of great seafood restaurants along the way - in both directions !
Through the years, we have found that the canal is our favorite place to swim and float on the rafts .
The beach is only a short walk away - the public access to the beach is 2 blocks from the house. Very wide beach, beautiful sand. We love to go to the beach in the late afternoon and watch the sunset.
The one word we hear most often about the house is 'comfortable' . Surrounded by palm trees , the cottage offers 4 bedrooms- 3 on the main level and 1 king bedroom in an enclosed lofted area - with a small balcony - perfect for morning coffee or an afternoon drink. The main living area has a 27' TV and 2 very comfortable sofas- great for the entire family to watch a movie. The dining table sits 10 and there is a smaller round table perfect for games and puzzles.
Each bedroom is unique in its own way: The 1st bedroom has a queen bed / private bath. 2nd bedroom has a queen and a full bed with an adjoining bathroom that connects to the 3rd bedroom - with 2 twin beds. The 4th bedroom is upstairs in a lofted area (doors for privacy) with a king bed , private bath and balcony.
The main living area leads to a large deck that overlooks the canal. Another great place to sit , relax , enjoy the view !
Keywords: Our cozy, comfortable beach home is located in Ocean Isle Beach , NC . This family- oriented area is known for its beautiful beach , its great golf courses- most are located within a 15 minute drive of the house and great fishing . Of course, there is biking , strolling on the beach or just relaxing on the large deck with its great canal views. Our favorite activities are floating in the canal and going to the Friday night concerts during the summer.

A great place to stay!
A great place to stay!
The description, pictures and location are accurately represented for this property. It was extremely clean and well maintained. The yard is beautiful and the grass is so soft. My husband and son spent hours playing corn hole in the evening. The downstairs shower is awesome with lots of water pressure. This house is so close to the beach, we didn't have to rent a golf cart. Surprisingly the air conditioning system was able to keep us comfortable when the temperature outside exceeded 100 degrees for most of the week (not typical). We have rented canal homes at OIB for the last 5 years. The owner's of this home put some thought into convenience items like a first aid kit, mosquito repellant, plastic storeage bags, trash bags, dish detergent, hand soap and paper towels. My mother spent hours making puzzels. I would highly recommend staying at this canal home.

About the owner: My family built the house in 1986. It has been a great place for our children to come through the years . We have created many happy memories here and hope to make many more as the family continues to grow . In fact , my son and his fiancé love ocean isle so much that they plan to get married on the beach next May ! We obviously enjoy coming to Ocean Isle- as my husband says - as soon as he crosses the bridge , he can feel his body relax. !
Why the Owner Chose Ocean Isle Beach:
We had been vacationing at Ocean Isle for many years before we built the house. Then the opportunity presented itself for us to build a vacation home. We never thought about building at another beach. Ocean Isle seemed a natural for us . That was in 1986 and we never have regretted it. I am very thankful that we have a place at the beach that the family can enjoy !
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
We love being close to the ocean and on the canal. With the intracoastal waterway being so close ( 7 minute boat ride ) , that affords us the opportunity to visit the surrounding areas - Calabash NC (known for their seafood restaurants) , Myrtle Beach, SC , Holden Beach , Southport NC and if we feel adventuous , we may head to Bald Head Island and Wrightsville Beach for the day. Ocean Isle is also unique in the fact that there are so many golf courses in the immediate area - perhaps 10 within a 15 minute drive from our house. My husband and son also love the fishing. If we are lucky , they catch our dinner ! And of course ,I can't say enough about the beach itself. The east end of the beaches, overlooking Holden Beach , is one of my favorite places to walk.
