We had a fantastic time and have fallen in love with Barbados. Condo is great, beach and sea superb, food wonderful and the people welcoming. Absolutely nothing to complain about. We certainly hope to come back to your beautiful island and, if so, we shall certainly get in touch. We would be quite happy to repeat the whole experience at Maxwell Beach!

I visited Maxwell Beach Villas with my wife and two children during the week between Christmas and New Years (12/26/11 through 1/2/12 inclusive). An otherwise reasonable stay was badly marred by the bar across the street from the building which -- at the time of our stay -- featured Karaoke. The bedroom occupied by my two children (both under 10 years of age) directly faced this bar. During the nights of the 26th, 30th, and literally ALL NIGHT during the 31st (New Year's Eve) we were kept awake for many hours by the caterwalling emanating from this bar at extremely high volume. In our experience the condo's single pane wood frame windows did very very little to dampen the noise. We have visited Barbados multiple times in the past without undue noise issues. We would NEVER have stayed at Maxwell Beach Villas had we known of the sound issues with the bar, and would never consider staying there again. We also experienced problems with a dishwasher which was broken when we arrived and not fixed until day 5 of our 7 day stay, as well is pervasive issues with the WiFi (even once "fixed"). Hot water for our showers was often in short supply. Lastly, the parking lot is extremely small with very narrow access routes and was extraordinarily difficult to navigate. Positives included the security guard Cesar, who has a wonderful attitude and was always cheerful and anxious to help. The beach in front of the building is quite nice and our children enjoyed body surfing in the gentle waves. The pool area is well kept and the vegetation has grown in nicely (much more richly developed than in the pictures on the www.homeaway.com website). The pool itself is small and only 4 feet deep across its entire span. Our last afternoon we had to leave the pool because someone decided to light a charcoal BBQ in the easement to the east of the property which blew acrid smoke across the pool area for some time. As with the bar, we were told by security that since the grill was in the easement rather than on the property, there was nothing they could do to address the issue.

Owner response: We wanted to note some facts to consider given that the above is unique and the only noise complaint that we are aware of at Maxwell Beach since opening 4 yrs ago. We are happy to say we have accommodated hundreds of visitors happily and comfortably. Maxwell Beach is a collection of privately owned apartments and not a hotel, therefore there are no on-site maintenance personnel. Independent contractors must be called in the event of an equipment breakdown. Unfortunately, during that celebratory/holiday time of the year when we have numerous public holidays, it is more difficult to get immediate attention from service contractors and regrettably so as we appreciate the urgency of such concerns. The guest complained about someone next door on the beach doing BBQ and wondered why we couldn't stop them. That is not the Caribbean way. We take advantage of the wonderful weather and BBQ on the beach and we love music especially during public holidays of which we have many. No matter where you holiday it is expected taht there will be some additonal noise for the New Years Eve bash. We regret that their stay was not what as anticipated but remain confident that future guests will continue to enjoy excellent, personalized service from our staff and those at Maxwell Beach Villas.

Myself, my husband and 2 teenage boys (19 and 14), had come to Barbados for my neice's wedding. We stayed in apartment 104 on the 2nd floor and it was just perfect. The apartment was lovely, the view was stunning. The gardens are more established than the in the photos but provides some welcome shade.Family staying in nearby hotels agreed that our apartment was definitely a winner. Renae, the property manager was very helpful and a very nice lady. The local supermarket was well stocked and the nearby Surfer's Cafe proved a winner for breakfast with a view.We ate out at Pisces ,in The Gap, very nice, spent the day at The Boatyard near Bridgetown(entrance is charged for use of the facilities - sunbeds etc- but is deducted from your meal bill, couple of nights out at The Ship Inn,in The Gap, dancing if you don't mind it hot, an island tour for the Hen day, just the girls and some rum punch, and of course the wedding was at Wispers On The Bay which was beautiful. Fish Fri in nearby Oistins (music and food stalls) gets quite busy but is not to be missed. We visited Harrison Caves but thought it was a bit expensive (80 bajan dollars each) for a short tour. We chose to use the local taxis although prices did vary even for short distances. The apartment provides a good base, relax by the pool or beach, or to explore the island and activities. We all had such a nice time that we decided to stay a few days more (restricted by half-term dates).

Recommended for: Families with teenagers, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We thoroughly enjoyed Maxwell Beach Villas and Barbados. The condo was lovely and very well stocked. Albert left snacks for our arrival which was really appreciated after a long flight with young children. The beach was the highlight. It was perfect for my 6 year old to play in the sand while my 11 year old loved the waves and body surfing.

Maxwell Beach apartments were everything we expected. The gardens around the pool were beautiful and the building itself is well maintained. We stayed in unit 503 and it was clean, the beds were comfortable and the kitchen had all that we needed. Renae was always there to answer any of our questions and we have to say Caesar (security) is an exceptional, friendly and helpful man. Always a smile on his face and willing to help as well. We will miss our daily chats with him. We all agreed that we will return to MBV as they are exactly what they say they are. Thanks Albert for all your help as well.

My husband and I, along with our adult son and his girlfriend, have just returned from a 10-day stay at Maxwell Beach apartments and have had the most wonderful time there. The staff (special mention to Renae and Caesar!) provided a brilliant round the clock service and were extremely responsive, helpful and courteous at all times. The apartment was beautifully light, airy, clean, tastefully decorated and well maintained and as for the seaviews...well, the description 'totally stunning' doesn't do them justice - we could have spent the whole 10 days just chilling on the balcony watching and listening to the waves ebb and flow. The location of the apartments was ideal - a 10 min walk from Oistins, where you can eat the freshest fish possible (the flying fish is especially delicious) and is really lively on a Friday night when live music is served up with the food and everyone joins in the dancing, especially after a few rum punches. St Lawrence Gap is just a 5-min ride away on a reggae bus (12-seater 'ZR' minibuses), with lots of restaurants to choose from (Ship Inn and Pisces are especially good). We hired a car for 3 days (another efficient service, organised by staff at the Villas) and drove over to the East Coast to do some wild wave watching. Bathsheba was a real highlight, especially in the afternoon when all the surfers turned up to ride the waves. And one final recommendation - the Villa Marie bar opposite the apartments, which is good for a relaxed early evening drink and a round or two of pool, draughts or chess, plus a chat about tennis with the charming Eve (NB the music can be a little over-generous on the volume sometimes, but we liked their playlist!) In summary, an outstanding apartment in a great location and we hope to return there soon!

We came to Barbados with friends. It was a much needed vacation and the sunshine felt great in January. The Condo lived up to all the reviews. It was easy to get to and a wonderful place. to stay. we utilized the city buses and took cabs home. The place next door had great lunches and happy hour specials. Even frequented the place across the street for late night cocktails. Our accommodations were awesome. We met some nice owners at the pool that were as happy as we were with the property. Loved being right near the water and easy access to everywhere. To tell you the truth, we could have stayed at the condo, never left, and been completely happy with everything there. Loved the security man Caesar. He kept great watch on everything and answered all of our questions. We enjoyed a turtle catamaran day trip and the fish fry on the weekend. there isn't a thing I would change! thanks

We had a fantastic 17 days - relaxing and enjoying life on the south coast. Our apartment was perfect - out the front a pool, the beach and the sea! Out the back a bus stop to anywhere on the island for $2!. Oistins is a 10 min stroll down the beach - for the shops or a beer, a great supermarket with everything you need. Our boys - 18 and 14 loved the sea, snorkeling windsurfing and swimming - a safe place with no hassle. Plenty of places to go and eat, Friday fish fry is fun, the gap is a 5 minute bus or ZR ride away - Bridgetown 15 minute ride. Everybody is friendly and helpful - we would recommend Maxwell apartments to anyone!

My family stayed in apt#501. Great views from the balcony overlooking the sea. The apartment was extremely well equipped, and is clearly well maintained to a very high standard, with a fully equipped kitchen. It was nice having the apartment serviced, and we appreciated the wi-fi facility too. If you want to be near the beach, this apartment is perfect, just a few steps from the private garden and pool. We made good use of the Butterfly Hotel which is conveniently just a few minutes walk along the beach (or road), for lunches and drinks. With other restaurants, and a small shopping centre, just a short drive away, this apartment is in a very good location. The beach in the front on the apartment was wonderful - some waves, but nothing too vigorous, so ideal for swimming and sitting in to keep cool. I'd recommend this location for children (and families) of all ages.

We were recently at the villas for our wedding and couldn't have picked a better place. The villa was exactly as described and what a gorgeous view! Albert left snacks and drinks which were so welcoming and the villa was furnished lovely! It was by far the nicest place we have stayed and everyone working there was so friendly! The pool was a delight and the ocean is footsteps away. We took the bus right outside, anywhere we wanted to go. The villa was decorated beautifully and we will certainly return!!

This was our first trip to Barbados and we chose Maxwell Beach Villa's #302 which was exactly as described. This is a beautiful unit in a great complex. We were greated by super friendly Ceaser at the front office to give our keys and directions to our room. What a treat that our fridge was stocked with beer, soft drinks and there was also a basket of snacks. This was really appreciated after a long day of traveling. The beach here is beautiful and we had the pool mostly to ourselves for the entire week. We really enjoyed watching the green parrots in the trees just before dusk every day.

Breathtaking views, great ammenities and beautiful decor are just some of the good qualities about this apartment building. I stayed there from May 6th thru the 10th to follow the cricket world cup and it was the perfect little spot. The owner provided me with accurate details about the apartment and was extremely helpful in providing us with local information. I also have to give credit to the building manager as she also helped us a lot in getting to know the locality. The building is very safe as it has an electronic locking system and 24 hour security and is only a short ride away from the bars at St. Lawrence Gap. The hotel right next door provides great breakfast and the bus stop outside the building is perfect to get into bridgetown or to st. lawrence gap. The building has a swimming pool area facing the sea which is an awesome place to relax after a hectic day. I highly recommend this apartment building and I know I will not look to stay anywhere else when I go back to Barbados.

We stayed in unit 302 for 7 days, and it wasn't nearly long enough. The apartment is exactly as described and pictured, except it is ON the ocean, not NEAR the ocean. It had all the amenities - washer, dryer, flat screen tvs in living and master bedroom, large soaking tub in the master bath, and all modern appliances. The kitchen was well stocked right down to a garlic press. Access to a grill would have been great, but we survived without it. You could easily prepare all of your meals here, but missing the great restaurants around the island would be a terrible shame. They even provide a large and a small coolers for packing picnic lunches to tote along while you sightsee. The apartment was spotless, and housekeeping came Mon, Wed, Fri for cleaning, washing linens, etc. The staff was excellent! Renae couldn't have been more helpful, housekeeping and security were friendly and pleasant as well. Albert went out of his way to accomodate all of our requests. The grounds were nicely landscaped, and equally immaculate. The picture of the pool must be older, there are now hedges along the fence. Great for privacy, bad as they block that beautiful ocean view. The location was fantastic - 5 minutes to St Lawrence Gap - GREAT restaurants and bars. 5 minutes in the opposite direction to Oistins with an IGA grocery (best selection that we found) and the Friday night fish fry (highly recommended). The pool was wonderful, but the small beach in front was even better. The waves were just the right size for some lazy boogie boarding, but not intimidating to get in and out of. It was very quiet, with few other people on the beach. We went to beaches on the east, and west coast and others on the south coast, and loved Maxwell the best. The hotel right next door had happy hour specials with 2 for 1 drinks daily from 12 - 1 and 5 - 6. I would emphatically recommend a car, but it was nice to have one place to go that didn't require one. I would highly recommend this property to anyone who likes a self- catering vacation. It truly doesn't get any better than this.

We stayed in Apt 502 from Feb 15-22, 2010 with our son and his girlfriend. We can't say enough about the immenities, location and staff in the villa. The apartment was very roomy with everyone having their own space included full baths off each of the bedrooms and was a nice quiet location. Having a washer/dryer in suite was terrific and we feel it is really a necessity for a beach vacation. The view from the double deck was next to none with a full view of the carribean; every day was a perfect day in paradise! We cooked breakfast every morning in our kitchen which had everything that we needed; especially the corkscrew/bottle opener for the enjoyment of some Banks beer throughout the week! The location was awesome; right next to bus stops so getting around was easy. A few great restaurants close, walking distance for groceries and the Oistens as well as a larger beach area just past the fish market. We were able to get any information we wanted and everyone was more than willing to help in any way. Kudos to the staff, particularily to Renea' and Albert! We will definitely return and have already recommended the condo to friends and family. Thanks so much for the memories!!!

Our stay in apartment 303 exceeded our expectations. The view from the balcony was fabulous. The pictures and listing description were accurate. The apartment was very clean and well-maintained and had all the furnishings one would expect for a condo. The on-site staff was courteous and helpful. The pool and grounds were well kept. The location was convient, near the tourist areas, but far enough away to feel out of the hustle and bustle. Check out Champers for a nice dinner on the ocean. Plenty of beaches nearby, check out Rockley/Accra beach or Maxwell beach. A trip to Bathsheba is worth it for a scenic drive into a more lush part of Barbados. The Butterfly Resort next door has a nice bar on the ocean with great happy hour specials. The bartender across the street was extremely friendly and knowledgeable about things to see and do in Barbados. Our only regret was missing the OIstins Friday fish fry. We would highly recommend this apartment for anyone who wants great accommodations on the ocean, convenient location, and all the amenities of a condo. We're definitely coming back!

Our family of 5 vacationed at Maxwell Beach Villas for 2 weeks in February, 2010 in unit 302. We would have stayed longer if we didn't have a flight to catch! The unit was exactly as advertised; clean, modern furniture, well equipped kitchen and the view was incomparable. The cleaning staff came every second day and did a great job of keeping our unit clean. The pool area was uncrowded our first week, but as the units filled up a few days before we headed home it was more difficult to find a lounge chair by the pool. The beach beside the condo is beautiful white sand, but you're not able to walk too far down the beach because of rocks & high tides. We would recommend renting a car and spending some time driving around the island. We enjoyed surfing lessons with Zed's Surfing, a day on the water with Cool Runnings catamaran, deep see fishing and the Oistin's Friday night fish fry. We'd also recommend at least one trip to Chilly Moo's ice cream shop at Rockley Beach - our kids loved it! We would not hesitate to recommend Maxwell Beach Villas to anyone travelling to the incredibly beautiful island of Barbados!

My husband, myself, our son and daughter-in-law enjoyed a wonderful stay at this facility. It was more beautiful than the pictures we had seen and we were absolutely delighted. The condo was immaculate, a welcome basket left for us upon arrival (so much appreciated) after a full day of travelling. The owner had provided information on shopping, eating, etc. that we found so helpful. The property manager was always available and security so very friendly and accommodating. We were very sorry when our stay ended and we had to return to Canada. We will certainly return to Barbados and to this property and would highly recommend it to anyone. This condo is perfectly located to access all the restaurants and beaches in the area by car. A fantastic place to vacation, relax and enjoy the quiet pool, secure beach and wonderful scenic places to visit.

We spent Christmas and New Years in Unit 303. It was absolutely perfect - the pictures don't lie. It is literally feet from the beach and the view from the balcony is incredible. It's very quiet for families, but close enough to Oistins, St Lawrence Gap and grocery stores. Our unit was very well equipped with anything we needed. The building is new so the unit was beautiful. Hotel with restaurant right next door if we were tired of cooking. Albert was great to deal with, and even made sure that we had our groceries delivered to the apartment on Xmas Eve so that we could relax when we got there. The onsite security guard was very friendly and offered much helpful tourist info.

My husband, 2 year old and I vacationed with my brother at Maxwell in Nov 2009 for a week. It was not long enough. The villas are beautifully decorated, we were in 502 and the view was spectacular. The layout was great and it had everything you could want - except maybe more baking supplies, a barbecue and stronger water pressure. The welcome pack of treats and drinks was a really nice touch and very convenient. We did use the a/c to fight the humidity at night, but often left it off during the day. The glass sliders open onto the patio/balcony and a beautiful breeze from the ocean comes right in. The garden is gorgeous and the pool is warm. The beach is very private to the left of the building, used by us and locals mostly. To the right it gets busier with the resorts. There is an elevator and stairwell so it is easy to get around with your arms loaded with beach toys. Renae and Caeser were very friendly and helpful. The cleaning staff were so friendly and so thorough - I don't think Maxwell is ever dirty and it's right beside the beach! Albert will answer any question you have about the property or Barbados. We highly recommend Dive Blue Barbados at the Hilton for small group snorkelling trips or going diving (although they don't offer catamarans which are slower and gentler modes of transport at sea) and Blue Trident Tours with Keith as fun things to do. We were within walking distance to Oistins and their store and it was easy to catch a bus into Bridgetown. There is a restaurant at Butterfly Beach Hotel just next door and a new restaurant across the street that serves a great English breakfast. We ate a lot at the condo with our little one, but also enjoyed meals at different restaurants around the island while out and about. The Crane has a spectacular view from it's Azure restaurant and served a really lovely brunch on Sunday. Tip: you get the freshest produce from the local vendors in Bridgetown - not at the grocers. We never drove because the left side driving and style of driving is so different from Canada. The cabbies were much better at it! Barbados is lovely - we hope to return and would love to stay at Maxwell again.

The apartment was great; comfortable, spacious and modern, with an absolutely fabulous view of the caribbean sea. Upon arrival we were warmly greeted, given a tour of them complex and left with a welcome pack full of groceries - great after hopping of the plane. The staff were very friendly and helpful at all times, with a cleaner twice a week - who made things imaculate! The apartment itself was very homely, with a very well equipped kitchen with a washer/dryer, a comfortable living area and very confortable bedrooms, both ensuite. The best thing was definately the balcony overlooking the sea - perfect for watching the sunset and listening to the sea when everything is quiet. The balcony also boasts 2 sunloungers and a table. There is a gym which was very handy and the pool was perfect for cooling of in after a workout. It also provided a nice place to spend the day catching some rays if you wanted a bit more privicy than the beach had to offer. It is definately a great place to relax, although a car is suggested as it is not in close distance to shops, restaurants, etc. 5 stars!

My wife and I and our 3 boys (7, 3 and 1) stayed at Apartment 102 (ground floor) for 3 weeks in July 2009 and we all thoroughly enjoyed our time there and can't wait to go back. Albert and the staff were extremely polite and always keen to assist with any query or problem that arose. The apartment was spacious and clean with all the modern conveniences needed to make our holiday go smoothly including washing machine/dryer and a large LCD TV and DVD player. It is located on a great stretch of beach which was safe for all the kids and had a terrific swimming pool which was also loved by the boys. Oistins is just 5 minutes by car (recommended) or a 15 minute stroll and has a large supermarket as well as other useful shops. In the evening we were able to take a short walk (or a very short drive) to local bars and restaurants (especially Charlie's Bar on Maxwell Main Road, which for us is the best kept secret on the Island!!) We have been coming to Barbados every year for the last 12 years and can honestly say that this was one of the most relaxing time we have had yet (as relaxing as it can be with 3 boys!!).

Owner response: I remember this family not wanting to leave, they truly enjoyed their stay
