Mas Raffin - the perfect house and location for a great holiday.
The farmhouse faces south to catch all the sunshine and is situated within a stonewalled courtyard full of provencal trees and flowers, being an ideal spot for meals, barbecues or quiet reading with a glass of our local wine. The mas has recently undergone complete renovation and offers our guests the very best in accommodation and relaxed surroundings.
Mas Raffin is ideally located to explore the region, being only six km from the A9 Remoulins exit. The Pont du Gard is five minutes away. It is within easy reach of Avignon, St Remy, Les Baux, Nimes, Arles, Uzes, Orange, Gordes and the Mediterranean coast. We are close to the TGV train and three airports.
The medieval village, Castillon du Gard is five minutes walking distance and has all amenities - baker, butcher, tabac, grocer, hairdresser. There is a wide choice of restaurants. There are numerous Rhone Valley vinyards nearby most of which welcome visitors seeking to taste - and buy.
Accommodation - the large new kitchen is all electric and is fully and very well equipped for the serious cook, including large worksurfaces and seating for eight.
The dining room has a beautiful antique french table and chairs with a country dresser displaying many local colourful objects d'arts. This large and very french room is dominated by a large stone fireplace.
The salon is elegant and spacious with comfortable sofas, recliners an d another antique dresser and another large stone fireplace. The TV offers french and satellite channels, plus DVD. There is an air-conditioner for your extra comfort. Off the adjacent hall is the coats, water closet and handbasin area.
A sweeping staircase from the hall leads to the four large and airy bedrooms. Two have en-suite bathrooms with shower, water closet and handbasin, another very large bathroom with double handbasins, shower and water closet adjoins the other two bedrooms. One bedroom has a queen-sized bed and the other rooms single beds (One pair being extra long). There is ample hot water. A covered terrace gives access to the fourth bedroom.
The house is very comfortably furnished and decorated with many paintings and prints, the walls are hand finished in soothing provencal shades.
There is central heating downstairs for cosy winter holidays plus electric radiators upstairs. We do not smoke and would ask our guest to smoke outside if possible.
The gardens and pool area - the courtyard is private, secluded and enclosed. This oasis is dominted by ancient olive and pomegranate trees, all set in mediterranean herbs and flowers. There are shady area ideal for leisurely dining in comfort. Beyond the courtyard there is a large mature garden at the end of which there is the pool. The pool is one meter deep at the shallow end and two and a half meters at the far end, around which are sun loungers and parasol. There are wide roman steps to help young and old enter the pool safely. The pool area is fenced and gated with lock and key. Pool towels and maintenance are included.
There are a large range of garden games, children's play equipment, as well as bikes available for touring the area which is very popular with cycilsts.
The house is looked after by a bi-lingual (English/French)couple living in a nearby village who are available if required for information, help or maintenance.
