Aloha, Our family feel in love with the Big Island in 1980, after 20 years of savings and visiting the island we finally were in a position to purchase a condo. By then we had stayed in every oceanfront complex on the Kona side, and knew there was only one place for us, Hale Kona Kai. After purchasing our condo I became a licensed property manager in Kona, was voted on the BOD of Hale Kona Kai, and now manage the other condos at Hale Kona Kai. Our love for our complex runs deep. We choose Hale Kona Kai because there is no other complex closer to the ocean. We are on a little side street with no noise, AND you can walk into town, to a lagoon and a beach, it was and is perfect. Since purchasing our beloved condo it has changed our careers. Living in Kailua-Kona on Big Island of Hawaii has brought so much joy. I have even become a "local expert" on sites such as Trip Advisor, and I love to share my local knowledge to all of our visitors. In addition to renting from an owner, you will be renting from an on-island licensed Realtor who manages the on-site office at our complex and the 31 condos that vacation rent. The benefits to having someone licensed and local will only enhance your vacation.

What a location! The view was incredible. We watched the sea turtles, eels, and crashing waves for hours on the lanai. At night, the crashing surf put us to sleep. The location was also convenient for quick walks to restaurants or shops. It was a comfortable fully equipped rental and I would highly recommend it.
Recommended for:Age 55+, sightseeing, tourists without a car, romantic getaway.

This rental is magical! It's the perfect Kailua ocean-front location. Clean, well managed lodgings with great attention to detail. Furnished with excellent taste. Can't ask for more. I'd recommend it to my pickiest friends. The Honu look up at you like they've been waiting just for you. Said "Aloha". Could almost swear I saw them smile. Mahlo nui loa for a wonderful vacation. Nothing compares to the awe-inspiring view from this huge, wrap-around lanai! On the right, you can watch turtles swim in a peaceful lagoon while to your left, dolphins and whales play in the deeper water. What's especially fantastic about this place is that it's located on a very quiet side-street parallel to town. We walked into downtown Kona very easily, but still could come home to complete privacy. The owners of this unit really worked hard to make their condo comfortable and it shows! The tropical decorations, beautiful art, and breathtaking pieces of furniture have transformed this unit into a place you can really call home. Plus, little details such as their granite counters, bamboo blinds, and Hawaiian quilt really made us feel special. Between the unbeatable location and the stunning decorations, we could hardly tear ourselves away! For the first time in years, I truly felt my stress melt away with the peaceful sound of the waves right below me.(It was like sitting on my own personal beach!) In fact, the view was so spectacular that we often would get food to-go just to bring it back here, because no restaurant could beat such a view! If possible, rent Hale Kona Kai #213 as soon as you can! We can't believe that such an affordable place with this view and location even exists!
Recommended for:Age 55+, adventure seekers, sightseeing, tourists without a car, girls getaway, people with disabilities, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children.

We really enjoyed this condo, it hangs over the ocean and we saw lots of turtles eating right below us. Very clean.. everything we needed, lots of towels, linens, spices, pots, pans, cooler... Great TV (not that we used it all that much) with DVD's and CD's. We spent most of the time on the lanai watching sunset. Did not use the AC all that much, loved listening to the ocean from bed at night. Swam in the lagoon next door, it was delightful. We already booked for next year.
Recommended for:Age 55+, sightseeing, romantic getaway.
