This two story house has 3 double bedrooms (two upstairs and one downstairs) plus an upstairs bonus room, 2 1/2 bathrooms, living room, formal dining area, family room with informal dining, modern well equipped kitchen and laundry/utility room. Totals 2,250 air conditioned/ heated sq. ft. There are also two large sun decks with outdoor furniture, one upstairs and one on the ground floor with a gas BBQ for al fresco dining.
All this is set in an 18,000 sq ft. landscaped plot with lawns front and back set amongst mature trees. It's a short walk or 5 minute bike ride through a nature trail to Dolphin Head recreation and beach area (or 5 minute drive).
The house is tastefully decorated, very comfortably furnished and well equipped. There are 5 flat screen TV's, all with cable plus HBO, 1 with home cinema, DVD player & iPod dock. Free broadband wireless internet. 6 bikes and 4 portable beach chairs and beach umbrella are also provided.
The 'Low Country' of South Carolina is an area of outstanding natural beauty and abundant wildlife. It has featured in many movies such as 'The Prince of Tides' , 'Forrest Gump' and 'Glory'. Hilton Head Island has strict regulations aimed at preserving the beautiful natural surroundings and protecting the abundant wildlife. Hilton Head Plantation has even stricter regulations covering everything from architectural design (the homes must blend with their surroundings) to private garden maintenance and even has its own security force. The litter fine is $1,000! You will not see any of the poorly regulated development common in some other parts of the US. and Europe. As well as exploring the immediate area, interesting side trips can be made to historic Bluffton, Beaufort, Savannah and Charleston.
Hilton Head Island has a sub tropical climate with average high temperatures ranging in degrees Farenheit from 58 in January, 74 in April to 88 in July, (14.5, 23 and 31 in degrees Centigrade). It is at about the same latitude as San Diego USA, Casablanca Morocco, or Israel. But is washed by the Gulf Stream and is very much more lush, being mostly covered in Southern Evergreen Oak dripping with Spanish Moss, Scots Pine and Gum trees. There are hundreds of lakes and lagoons. The tidal creeks and estuaries have reeds and wetlands, whooping cranes and other wading birds and the famous shrimp boats still ply their trade. The Island has 12 miles of wide family oriented Atlantic Ocean facing beaches on which you can swim, sunbathe, dolphin watch surf, horse ride, bike ride etc. You can sail or kayak in the protected waters of the estuaries or Inter Coastal. The Island has around 2 million visitors a year and caters for virtually every resort activity from Bridge to Body surfing.
The nearest major airport is Savannah less than an hours drive away, or Charleston 2 hours drive away. Hilton Head has its own small airport 15 minutes from our house, with frequent shuttle flights from Savannah, Charlotte and Altanta. European guests usually fly to Hilton Head via Charlotte with US Airways or to Savannah via Atlanta with Delta. There are frequent flights all year round.
The ground floor bedroom has a good sized en suite bathroom.
Upstairs bedrooms share a bathroom and also have access to a bonus room opening onto a large upper deck.
All bedrooms have flat screen TV's, walk in closets and ceiling fans in addition to air conditioning and heating .
All the beds are quite new with quality mattresses.
The bonus room/den also has a convertible chair bed.

Hilton Head Plantation is a gated residential community of 4,000 homes set in approx. 4,000 acres of natural surroundings comprising woodland, lakes, lagoons and conservancies, bounded by Port Royal Sound and the Inter coastal waterway. It has 4 golf courses a swimming pool and recreation centre, miles of leisure and bike paths, a 1 mile bluff walk along Port Royal Sound and a 1 mile beach on Pine Island at Dolphin Head.
Several Ocean facing public access beaches are just minutes drive away.
Hilton Head Island has its own airport with shuttles from Savannah and Charlotte. The Island is only 12 miles by 5 and is one of the World's top 100 destinations with one of the top 10 family beaches according to the AAA. There are more than 20 championship golf courses on the island as well as several marinas, shopping plazas, many many restaurants and many other facilities that you would expect in a top class resort . The adjacent mainland has a number of historic sites to visit.

Golf: Hilton Head Island is possibly best known for its 20 odd golf courses and it is undeniably a golfers paradise. Too much to mention here. There are 4 courses in Hilton Head Plantation. Dolphin Head, Oyster Reef, The Country Club of Hilton Head and Bear Creek. The Heritage PGA Tour Tournament takes place mid April at Harbour Town Golf Links.
