Mansion Estate w/ Guest House Available for Rent. More amenities than imaginable! Stay at your own private resort! Our location is close to the beach and racetrack, but slightly east, nestled in the hilltops, so we tend to have less fog and marine layer than more coastal properties. We have the best weather! Property at a glance: Five Acres. Five Buildings with a total of 25,000 sq. feet of indoor living. 8 bedrooms, plus office with sofa bed, loft, and children's playroom, can sleep 19 - 23 total. 17+ bathrooms. Six indoor gas fireplaces. Gym, game room, tennis court with basketball, 2 steam rooms, dry sauna, 3 outdoor spas, 4 outdoor firepits, 2 outdoor kitchens, koi ponds, tropical palapa and walk.
Available for long term rental, monthly, or bi-monthly.

Monthly: $50,000 off peak - 65,000 peak
Bi-Monthly: $85,000 off peak - 120,000 peak
Rates subject to change. This includes stay for up to 19 guests, maid service for 3 days and taxes. Additional guests will be $100 per night/per guest or $500 per week. Utilities may be extra and based on your usage and length of stay, approximately anything over 75 therms/1400kWh per week will be the guests responsibility. Deposit will be based on number of guests and length of stay. Our minimum deposit for one week is a refundable $3000 by personal check and required renters insurance ($89) for no less than $5000 coverage. We are NOT an event venue.

The Main Home has 5+ bedrooms including Guest Suite quarters upstairs. (can sleep 11) Master Bedroom has steam room, dry sauna, and private courtyard hot tub. Two Living Areas, two dining areas, bar and Kitchen with walk in cooler perfect for entertaining! Spaceship style theater seats 13+. Tropical Aquarium.
Guest Home has 3+ bedrooms and full kitchen, living, and dining. Plus loft and kid's playroom.
(Can sleep up to 8)
Pool House/Game Room includes full bar, seperate bathrooms/changing areas, Air Hockey, Pool Table, Foosball and full Kitchen. Gymnasium with weight and cardio machines, massage table, his and hers shower/locker areas, and giant steam room.
The remote Artist Studio is currently occupied by our onsite property manager for your convenience.
Custom interior features include large plate windows, high ceilings, decorative pillars and limestone flooring. Built in cabinetry, numerous French doors and unique ceiling accents are found throughout the home. The kitchens features solid wood cabinetry with granite countertops. Custom milled wood doors are installed throughout the home. Recessed and hanging light fixtures, forced air heating and cooling, central station monitored fire and burglar alarm system, motorized Entry Gate with private code.

This home is also for sale. Therefore, we are concentrating on rentals in the next 30 - 120 days, but are open to contracting further out for more risk-tolerant clients. We are happy to discuss the realty history and potential safeguards for your stay.
We are a private family luxury estate home, and as such, tend to be priced higher on the market. This is due to the size of areas that need to be prepared properly, all of the amenities, the quality of materials used through out the estate, and so on. We are happy to discuss pricing and length of stay, but please keep in mind than an estate of this nature is expensive to maintain to such a high standard, and therefore the rental price needs to make sense. We have an enormously high overhead. So while we are happy to discuss options that could reduce the rental rate a bit, it most likely would still be minimal in order to financially make sense to our bottom line.

We gathered our small family and closest friends together here for a week surrounding our wedding. It was a delightful stay, worth every penny. The entire villa has exquisite taste yet is comfortable to live in. The grounds are beautiful and functional. My family especially enjoyed the hot spas and the (at this time of year) very cold swimming pool, as well as the outdoor grills and pizza oven. The wedding itself was held in the "palapa", a tropical pagoda-like covered deck overlooking two koi ponds, while the reception and formal dinner was held inside. Mandy, who manages the property but also has experience in event planning, was amazing helping organize and get things done, despite our complex requirements -- we hired her for the event itself, on top of the week-long stay, and it was worth every penny. All in all, I couldn't be happier.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing.

Why the Owner Chose Rancho Santa Fe:
Bernard Gardens, previously named Corona de la Valle and Hacienda Grande, situated on 4.5+ acres, the showcase mansion in the crown of the Del Rayo Estates overlooks the San Diegueto Valley with a clear view to Del Mar and the ocean. Named Del Rayo by the late Gene Klein, legendary owner of the San Diego Chargers football team and breeder of Kentucky Derby horseracing champions, he was lured to the area’s ideal climate, and committed to retaining the rural atmosphere. As a result, he dedicated the majority of the land to pastures and planned to build palatial estates for his new community overlooking the valley. Libri Development purchased Del Rayo Estates after Klein’s death and completed this gem of them all, Corona de la Valle.
In the 1920’s Rancho Santa Fe was becoming the secluded retreat for Hollywood stars; Bing Crosby, Gene Kelly and Danny Kaye were some of the largest property owners. Nearby was the 14,000acre Rancho Zorro of America’s sweethearts Douglas Fairbanks and Mary Pickford, property which today is known as Fairbanks Ranch, “next door neighbor” to Del Rayo Estates. The neighborhhood boasts the Fairbanks Ranch Country Club, Rancho Santa Fe Farms Golf Club, Rancho Valencia Tennis Resort and the Heritage Country Club, along with wold class polo facilities and racing centers. Each year a house of significant historic or architectural merit, is selected by a Designers Showcase committee.
In 1991, Bernard Gardens was designated as the 18th annual Designers Showcase Home. Architect for the original home structure was Richard Salpietra.
Bought by the current owner in 2001, the property went through a multi-year, multi-million dollar remodel and building phase. The guest home and gym were added as well as making the master home more spacious by removing walls and lightening the color scheme and design/decor.
