La Maison Scott has central heating and cooling, and most rooms are equipped with a ceiling fan that takes the edge off of those days when the mercury is running high.
Guests may enter to a formal dining room featuring a fireplace with a decorative mantle and two extra large windows that flood the room in sunlight. Each bedroom has a dresser, nightstands , HDTV with DVD player. Upstairs master has private balcony with sitting area and fabulous views of the Marigny. Downstairs master has a lovely sitting area and walks out to the studio/sun-room and courtyard. The air conditioned sun room has a sleeper sofa and desk for those who just want to chill out and read and also offering a private entrance.
Also featured is a renovated half-bathroom off of the living room and indoor washer and dryer located off the kitchen area. Each bathroom is supplied with high-quality Egyptian cotton towels and bath sheets.
Our large, modern eat-in kitchen is delightfully bathed in sunlight with two sets of windows and a side door that leads to the courtyard or side yard. Indeed, our kitchen is uncharacteristically large and airy for historic homes in the Marigny neighborhood. The kitchen features stainless steel appliances and is well-equipped with a complete supply of cookware, dishes and cutlery. Small appliances include a toaster oven, a microwave and a Keurig coffee maker. After you have brewed your morning coffee, simply take a stroll through the French doors into the courtyard to sip your coffee and listen to the sounds of morning in New Orleans, which might include the horn of a paddle-wheeler making its way down the Mississippi a few blocks away!
And while you are in the courtyard, you might as well enjoy all of the amenities offered - throw some Louisiana shrimp on the grill or just relax on the outdoor furniture - it is so comfortable that you might not want to leave!
Our local house managers - are native New Orleanians who can be a resource to our guests during their stay.

I put family members in this house as part of my daughter's wedding weekend. The property is well managed, well cared for, very comfortable and has great charm. The patio out back is beautiful. The tall ceilings, wood paneling and furniture are beautiful. The stairs up to the second floor are a little narrow but that reflects the architecture of the neighborhood. It's far enough from the Quarter to be quiet and restful but the bars on Frenchman street are in easy walking distance. I recommend highly for people who want a little quiet relaxation in a quality property close to New Orleans' night life.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

My wife & I stayed here with another couple and were very happy with the experience. The property manager was extremely helpful & personable. The property was "as advertised" and one of the best lodging experiences I've ever had in the 10+ years of traveling to NOLA. Very clean, all of the amenities, a great back patio for lounging, and comfortable beds. Highly recommend!!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

This house is in a perfect location - just a couple blocks from Frenchmen Street and then another two blocks to the French Quarter. It is perfect for walking. We were a group of four longtime friends and there was plenty of room for sleeping and plenty of bathrooms - important for four ladies! The house is beautiful and comfortable and Connie is very helpful and prompt. We were delighted with this house.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, age 55+, girls getaway.

An amazing all-girl Halloween and 40th bday celebration in New Orleans. The house was immaculate and perfectly located for what we wanted to experience. There was plenty of room for all of us and the house had everything we could want or need. The house was within walking distance to so many things but we had bicycles to get around, which definitely proved to be a perfect way to see the town and surrounding areas. Connie was wonderful and helped with making our stay perfect. Thank you....your home is amazing and we look forward to coming back soon.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, tourists without a car, girls getaway.

What a fantastic girl's week in New Orleans. The house was perfect. We had plenty of room to spread out, the amenities were great and the house had everything we could want. It was a perfect location, walking distance to so many things but far enough away as to not endur the noise at night. The music in the parks was great. Check out Cafe Dauphine for great food in the lower 9th ward. Jack Dempseys is another great local place with great food and service. We could have stayed longer with so much to do. Thank you for an amazing place to stay and we hope to return again soon.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, tourists without a car, girls getaway.

We came to visit for a week and didn't want to leave. We had a small family gathering at the house (adults and one child). It was wonderful. It is a very spacious house, with a shotgun style downstairs starting with the dining room, moving into the living room, then the open kitchen, the hallway, a bedroom with a sitting room and bathroom, out into the enclosed sunroom that has a pullout couch, and into the private courtyard that is lit up at night, quiet and fun to hang out in. The upstairs has a bedroom with its own bathroom and balcony. The house was very clean and inviting. It is furnished nicely, with a good mixture of antiques and modern pieces. The ceilings are high, with ceiling fans and the floors are made of wonderful old wood. Each room has its own iPod dock and the living room and both bedrooms have flat screen televisions. I have never rented a private home before where the owners stock toiletries before. They also make sure to stock water and coffee to start your trip off right. Connie was wonderful and helpful. She made us feel completely at home and was nearby if we needed anything. The house is about a ten minute walk from the French Market. It is also around the corner from Frenchman street where there is great Jazz and restaurants. We felt like locals and had the best time. We would definitely come back. Thank you for having us!Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children.

This was easily one of our best vacations. We drove to NOLA.......and parked the car. Never had to use it until we drove back home. The large park three blocks away was great for our dog..and we met lots of friendly locals who were always happy to recommentd places to eat and visit. We even found two coffee shops where we could bring the dog. Needless to say, we're 'dog-people'. Loved 'THE PALACE CAFE', WHO DAT CAFE, ELIZABETH'S (great breakfast), SCHIRO;s (weekend brunch) and BUFFA's (Sunday bruch with music) also MONA LISA for a funky neighborhood dining experience. I'd never used a Keurig Coffee maker before and was somewhat 'not too happy' but tell you what........it's really nice to make a great consistently good cup of coffee..and I'd recommend adding the Baileys over sweetener anytime. I have knee problems so we only stayed in the bottom floor of the house..........I'd say this is pretty much disability friendly (unless you are really wheel-chair bound)Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, people with disabilities, tourists without a car, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

My wife and I have been coming to New Orleans since 2005 and have stayed in hotels for the most part (the Omni and Monteleon). We wanted to try to experience more of the New Orleans flavor and the La Maison Scott was amazing. We would rate this as our best experience yet. It was walking distance to everything we love (Frenchmen St. and the French Quarter). We also discovered many other local resturants and really experienced the flavor of New Orleans like no other time we have been here. The house is amazingly decorated and felt like our own. The amenities were like any top notch hotel but with out the expense. We will be back time and again and want to recommend this place to our friends but don't want them to book when we do. A+++Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

About the owner: We fell in love with New Orleans and particularly the Marigny area after my husband's work brought us here last year. We live in California and spend time here with family and friends. Our property manager is from New Orleans and takes great pride in our property. We established La Maison Scott in hope to share our lovely get away with our guests.
Why the Owner Chose Marigny-Bywater:
A home away from home with a New Orleans flair. Location, location location..So nice to be walking distance to most attractions and not need a rental car.Although if you do have a car there is plenty of parking.Great neighborhood which offers our guests a real New Orleans experience..
