Maya Beach house description
If you are looking for the excitement of Cancun, this is not the place. If you are looking for privacy and seclusion, this is the place. If you are looking to kick back, plan your own days, choose whether to go anywhere or not, this is the place. If you want a non stressful vacation, this is the place!
Our house is a Belizean Hardwood Mennonite home up on stilts, designed to capture the refreshing sea breeze. It is open and designed for comfort, easy keeping and relaxation.
Enjoy the view of the lagoon while swinging in your hammock on your covered front deck, overlooking a beautiful stretch of water and mountains. Enjoy swinging in a hammock on the 'morning porch' watching the birds come an eat at the porch feeders.
Your kitchen is well-equipped and you find all the comforts needed for cozy self-sufficiency. Cable TV, wireless internet, and bicycles all included in the price.
Maya Beach is located midway down the 16 mile Placencia Peninsula in Southern Belize. Along the east side of the peninsula are white sandy beaches and the Caribbean Sea.
The west side is a mangrove filled lagoon with the majestic Maya Mountains in the background, towards Guatemala.
We are approx. 5 miles north of the Placencia airstrip, and 8 miles north of Placencia village. The main roads are paved and the side roads are well maintained and graded. We are mid-peninsula with a well stocked Belizean grocery store, world class restaurants, and a couple of beach bars located within walking distance. We are far enough away though that you can enjoy peace and quiet, while enjoying the feel of the breeze and the many different exotic bird sounds. The peninsula is flat and lends to easy comfortable bike riding, running and walking.
Flights come into the country several times a day and there are 2 smaller airlines that fly from Belize City to Placencia. It is about a 30 to 45 minute flight. You can rent a car in Belize City and enjoy the drive through the Maya Mountains on the Hummingbird Highway. The drive takes about three hours. You can also rent a vehicle in Placencia at the airport.
Reva’s Pearl is ideal for couples, families and honeymooners but will sleep 4-6 people comfortably.
The master bedroom has a queen size bed, a second bedroom with 2 twin beds and full size futon in the living room.
Inside is fully varnished hardwood, A/C in the master bedroom, ceiling fans, a floor fan, private bath with tiled shower, and hot water.
The “Pearl” is self-accommodating. We provide you with all your needed supplies like sheets, towels, beach towels, kitchen towels.
There is a washer/dryer in “the basement”. Your kitchen comes equipped with refrigerator, microwave, toaster, gas stove, coffee maker, dishes and glasses, cooking utensils, sugar, salt, pepper, and spices. A nice tradition has been started by former occupants who have left dry goods
for further use, a “pay it forward” mentality that works for everyone. As stated above, there is a grocery store just down the road There are several other grocery stores and farmers markets in Seine Bight and Placencia.
Sooo...we hope we have caught your attention and hear from you soon.

This was our first trip to Belize, so we decided to rent a house and a car. My wife and two boys (ages 13 and 15) stayed at the house. First, Julie was so helpful with information and ideas for our trip before arriving in Belize. Answered so many questions for me about the house, Placencia and Belize. I was able to have our days figured out before getting there, which made things much easier. The house is beautiful, has everything you need. Kitchen with all appliances, dishes, glasses and silverware. Very clean and well kept. The deck is so nice to sit and drink some coffee in the morning and have some Belikin beers in the afternoon/evening. It was nice having air conditioning in the main bedroom, as the nights were a little hot. There are plenty of towels for showering and going to the beach. And it was so nice having a washer and dryer. We will not pack as much next timne. Nice location in Maya Beach, very quiet and private. The next door neighbors are very nice and helpful as well, and have some great dogs that would come and visit us. Which was nice since we missed our dogs. There is a grocery store right down the street (but if you head down the penninsula to the other villages you will find even better ones). The beach is right across the street and a few places to eat as well. Just a short few minute drive down to Placencia Village where most the shops and restaurants are located. This house is perfect for a family, group of friends, or a couple. My oldest son is a bit of a neat freak and was worried that the house would not be a great place to stay. After being there for only an hour he said to me that I picked out a perfect place to stay. If you are planning a trip to Placencia, you must stay here. We will stay here again the next time we visit Belize.

Manager response: Thank you so much. I am so happy your vacation was so comfortable. Please know you are welcome back anytime and who knows what improvements there will be!!
We stayed nine nights at Reva's Pearl. Overall, it was a great location and space to have our vacation. Fred and Jackie, the neighbors/property managers, are outstanding. We were a little concerned that we didn't have an address to look for when entering Maya Beach, but there are no addresses in Maya Beach. The easiest way WAS to come to town and ask about them. Reva's Pearl was adequately stocked with kitchen tools and some bathroom items/sunscreen/bug spray. One room did have AC, which was really nice, but the power goes off occasionally and the coastal breeze is the best escape from the heat. So, we didn't spend a lot of time at the Pearl. After talking with locals, we found that we didn't find quite the 'deal' we thought we had. We could've found a beach side property for less money. (This would have meant less bugs and more breeze too) Still, the balcony was peaceful and the view of the lagoon is serene. Access to cable and wi-fi was good - when the service wasn't down (which happens sometimes in Belize). The bikes were fun to use and there was an ice chest which was nice for a roadtrip to Cockscomb. Only thing that seemed in need of repair was the floor in the master bedroom and hallway to it. You can see between the floor slats to the dirt below. (In the morning light comes in through the floor.) We felt like this compromised the efficacy of the AC and allowed some of the bothersome noseeums into the house. Overall, a solid experience and a well-stocked home.

Manager response: Thank You so much for your comments and suggestions. They help us to improve the house and our guests stay. We do our best to provide the best directions we can. Belize is a growing nation and the Placencia Peninsula is slowly being discovered. For good or bad, I am sure the time will come where street signs will be posted, making areas more travel friendly. Everyday things change and improve. We appreciate your input and want all of your experiences to be good ones.
Reva's Pearl was an awesome experience for myself and my friend who stayed a week there in Maya Beach. We enjoyed being off the beaten path yet very close to a grocery store, restaurants and bars. The bikes were a great way to get around Maya Beach and we ended up renting a golf cart to get to and from Placencia. The house was perfect! We cooked and grilled several meals. The laundry came in very handy and next time I will probably pack less knowing that that is an option. In addition, especially if you are a bird lover like myself, I highly recommend bringing a bird ID book and some binoculars. There are so many birds hanging around in the trees right off the deck and it was a lot of fun identifying them and watching them every morning with a cup of coffee in hand. Overall this was a great place to spend a week and I hope to get back again and again!

Captivatingly Charming, Comfortable and Serene
Captivatingly Charming, Comfortable and Serene
This delightful home is located on a quiet lane within a 5-10 walk of anything you might need (beach w/loungers, good grocery store, art gallery, bakery, restaurants -- including the Maya Beach Bistro which is one of the top 7 restaurants in Central America). The lagoon view with the Maya Mountains in the distance is quite lovely. The large, comfortably furnished terrace (with gas grill) opens to this view. There is another private terrace off the master (excellent bed, 2nd flat panel TV w/million channel cable). The kitchen is excellently stocked, the hot water pressure is good and the wifi is dependable. If I am ever able to return I would stay for at least a month!!

Great Get Away!
Great Get Away!
We rented the house for the weekend. We absolutely loved the place. The owners have thought of everything. The house is fully stocked with everything you could possibly need, all you need to do is bring your groceries. If there is a down side, it would be that the only AC is in the bedroom but the house has lots of large windows, we did not need AC. The bed is so comfortable, we slept wonderfully. We loved the large deck with the gas grill... great place to relax. We actually live in Belize and serve as missionaries but we need a time away from time to time so we fully intend to make this our regular get away. Oh, and we were able to bring our dog.

Year Purchased: 2005
About: We purchased this wonderful place because we love to dive ,snorkel, sun and eat well. We found the Placencia Peninsula to fill these requirements and then some. We love the people and the place.
Why Maya Beach:
Although not on the beach, the property is protected and quiet. It is literally less than a 2 minute bike ride to the beaches. The view is of the lagoon and mountains. Beautiful sunsets.
