Not what we expected
Not what we expected
The home has a lower level that is unfinished and unsecured with access to the top main floor where the access door had no lock. We had to prop a chair against the door handle at night to secure the top floor. The lower level had a very pungent smell where the owner had a floor fan running constantly at the window. One of the bathroom tubs had a drain that did not work with all the water standing in the tub and thus everyone had to use the bath in the master bedroom. This problem was mentioned to the caretaker the first day we were there and nothing was done to correct the matter. The first and second day we were there my wife had to clean the rooms because she found lots of bugs( you would think that if tenants paid for cleanup, a better job could have been done). The windows were dirty and full of bugs also. The concrete block cottage was even much worse with bugs. The cottage had no running water or bathroom. The beds other than the master bed were futons that were not comfortable. There is no beach at the shoreline. The pontoon boat that you rent had a nonworking trolling motor and the livewell did not work. The neighboring house was extremely close and everyone could hear and see what the others were doing. This is a doublewide manufactured home that to us sleeps 6 adults. We did not get our security deposit back because the owner said we took a sofa pillow which we did not, a figurine on a shelf in the laundry room that somehow fell off the shelf, and our time use of the pontoon boat after we paid for a second tank of gas and then used the boat for 5-10 minutes. The house is not toddler friendly because of items(including chemicals) placed in easy access to little ones. The house is overpriced for what you get.

Owner response: The lower level basement has a secure locking sliding door. The only bugs are nats that fly in while opening screened deck. The drain in tub was working when cleaned . The cottage is listed as having no facilities (this means toilet or running water) The pontoon boat is rented by the day they took possession at 5PM one day and still had use past that time the next day. We have clean towels and linens . Children have to be watched in any new situation. Sleeping for 3 is provided in our bunk bed room allowing for 7 guests. Our inventory showed one missing expensive couch pillow. The contract states they should contact us with any problems not the boat caretaker. House was rented for six people so the guest cottage they used was not part of our contract and was not cleaned. Damage to the living room wall caused by pushing the door past it's stop not mentioned, these combined with other items exceeded $250 loss.
We had a very good time at this property. The house was exactly as advertised and was well stocked with everything we needed. The chain of lakes provides lots of room to explore, fish, and enjoy. The BBQ and fire pit provided a good space to hang with friends and family. The Wii game system was good to keep the kids entertained when it rained. We also rented the pontoon boat and works pretty well for fishing and leisurely boat rides. We pulled a tube behind as well but the motor is not quite powerful enough to give a truly high-speed thrill so our kids become bored pretty quickly with it. Maybe the only compliant is we felt a little cramped with active kids - not a lot of yard to play catch, and we felt on top of each other in the house (e.g. if people sitting at the kitchen table, cannot open fridge door or get to trash can.)

Awesome Vacation Home
Awesome Vacation Home
We stayed in the home in August and had an absolutely fantastic time. The home is very clean and comfortable. The owners really take special care in making sure you have all the comforts of home. The home has a beautiful view of the lake and the Pontoon was great. The neighbors are very friendly, which makes it even better. I would recommend this home to anyone looking to relax, swim, fish or just enjoy the view. Great Home, location, neightbors and owners! We will making this annual vacation spot.

Nice Home, Frontage Could Use Some Work!
Nice Home, Frontage Could Use Some Work!
House was WONDERFUL. Plenty of space and updated nicely. Frontage needed some "tending" to, and the pier was in need of repair. We rented the pontoon boat for $100.00/day, had issues with it and the owner let us take it out the next day free of charge and had no issues with it. Neighbors were great and made us feel at home the entire week. Fishing was great early in the morning and we were able to have 2 fish fries while we were up there. Slept 7 adults and a 2 year old very comfortably.
