About the owner: I grew up in Alabama and went to Auburn University for my BS and University of Tennessee for my MS in Speech Pathology. My husband grew up in Greenville, SC and went to The Citadel in Charleston. We have two girls and a granddaughter who is 18 months old. I worked in the public schools for about 15 years and my husband runs a 100 year old family business, J A Piper Roofing in Greenville, SC.
Why the Owner Chose Pawleys Island:
I moved from Alabama and married a Greenville, SC boy 33 years ago. His family always went to the Litchfied/Pawleys Island area as kids. When we had our children, 2 girls, we started going to the beach in this area with our extended family and all his siblings and the 6 cousins. It was bedlam and fun. Because the beaches were lovely and it was a family atmosphere we played hard doing the usual things like swimming, and playing in the sand. We also found all the great places to eat in the area, chased sand crabs at night, shot fireworks, shopped at Pawleys Island Shops and found the new baby ducks at the Island shops. As our kids got older they kayaked in the marsh and ocean and we crabbing and fished. We also went to Myrtle Beach for the shows, shopping and water parks there. We found our condo and it was our slice of beach heaven. We loved that it was on the top floor and that it had ocean views from the front and side windows. A real plus was seeing the sun set over the marsh. We believe in 'fun' and the things that make fun. So my husband who loves all electronics bought TVs for every bedroom and a huge 50' for TV the living room with Boise sound equipment and a WII. But when we remolded the master bath with a 'bubble tub' and spa shower I was the one who wanted a TV over the tub. Then we added a Margarita machine, freezer ready ice cream maker, and waffle iron. While we are vacationing we believe in fully enjoying it. We also love that there are tennis courts and bike trails right on the property and the pool and hot tub are at our front door. One of my best ways to start the day is to watch the sun rise from my bed and then turnover and go right back to sleep. The perfect end of the day is to sit on the beach front balcony watching the ocean calm at days end and wind down with a big frosty drink enjoying friends and family.
