This lovely three bedroom/ two bath Victorian brings you back to an era when life was more serene and relaxed. Set in an idyllic and private area with woods on two sides one can sit on the wraparound farmer's or screened porch overlooking a glimmering lily pond, where you can almost forget it is the twenty-first century! But once you enter the house and see the newly renovated marble kitchen with high end stainless appliances (and lovely views of that pond), you know you have found just the right balance of old and new. A bright and sunny interior is stylish yet comfortable with hardwood floors throughout, a back parlor which is the perfect place to read and relax, living room with a baby grand piano, and the lovely grounds, plenty of parking, all just a mile from two beaches and Rocky Neck which is the oldest continuous art colony in the United States boasting wonderful galleries and restaurants. The historic fishing community of Gloucester with its shops, restaurants and galleries is a short drive as is the quaint village of Rockport.

Rating Details: I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. I was very happy with the location. The vacation rental was very clean. The property manager was very helpful. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Although we were extremely happy with this charming property and the location (magnificent), I have one comment about the beds which were extremely uncomfortable for both my husband and myself. The mattresses were very hard and gave us many sleepless nights. I would love to rent this property again, but sleepless nights and painful backs definitely added unnecessary stress to what would have been an otherwise perfect vacation. Manager responded on 1/3/2012: Thank you for your comments about your stay at Days’ End in August 2011. We shared your complaint about the beds with the owners, and they were chagrined to learn you were uncomfortable. As you might guess, they prefer to sleep on firm mattresses themselves, and bought new, high end firm mattresses to outfit the house early in 2010. However, they recognize that sleeping preferences vary widely among people, and they want future guests to be as comfortable as possible in order to enjoy every part of their stay. To that end, the owners have purchased pillowtop mattress toppers for the coming season. Guests may use or remove these, depending on their individual comfort preferences. Otherwise, the stay was terrific and Atlantic Vacation Homes was very responsive to the Internet issue. We would come again!
