An authentic old adobe house was masterfully re-designed and enlarged by one of Santa Fe’s leading architects who has been featured in The New York Times, Metropolitan Home, Western Interiors, and other publications. The house is an ideal blending of traditional and contemporary with elegant Asian accents and colorful Southwestern motifs. The indoor space totals 3600 square feet with ten separate doors to the outside; outdoors there are multiple patios, portals and terraces – all together forming an organic whole idyllic for casual indoor-outdoor living. The property is gated and entirely walled-in for complete privacy, security and room for pets to roam off-leash. There is plenty of parking.
Casa Querida is nestled close to the mountains with views to the east and south. Canyon Road with galleries and fine restaurants is a 10-minute walk. The historic Plaza area is one mile away. Hiking and biking trails are easily accessible. The Santa Fe Ski Basin with world-class high-mountain hiking and trekking is 25 minutes driving time.
Entering through the front door, there is a stone foyer with powder room and coat closet, then two steps descend to a large living room with beamed ceiling, fireplace, 37” flat screen TV, stereo system, Steinway grand piano, writing desk, game table, and comfortable couches and other seating. Sliding glass doors at the far end open onto a patio with garden wall, table and chairs, chaise lounges and close-up view of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains.
The chef’s kitchen features top-of-line SubZero and Wolf appliances, counter top TV, and abundant supplies of quality cookware, appliances, utensils, dishes and glassware. The breakfast area with built-in banco opens to the outdoors with a gas grill and small café table adjoining the front patio and a covered portal that serves as the outdoor dining room. This portal has teak table, benches and chairs, its own fireplace, adjustable lighting, and piped in music for intimate summer evening dining.
The indoor dining room has seating for up to 10 with a fireplace and a coved ceiling. A smaller outdoor dining area is located between the dining room and living room with lovely mountain views.
There are 3 bedrooms. Two of the bedrooms are in the new section of the house with high-beamed ceilings and ceiling fans, tall wood-paneled doors, and diamond-plastered walls. The master bedroom has a king-sized bed, kiva fireplace, large windows with mountain views, and French doors that open onto a flagstone patio. The second bedroom has twin beds as well as a sliding glass door to the outside. Between the bedrooms are a kitchenette with refrigerator, microwave, and coffee and tea-making appliances as well as a bathroom with double sinks, a steam room and oversized shower with multiple jets and tile seating. Adjacent is a sun-filled office/sitting room with large desk, printer/copier, and reclining reading chair.
The third bedroom is in the historic part of the home. It has a queen-sized bed, kiva fireplace, cedar-log ceiling, French doors opening onto the flagstone patio, and a private “wetroom” bathroom with shower and claw-foot bathtub.
All the bedrooms have first-quality beds and bedding, flat screen televisions and DVD players, telephones, closets with plenty of hanging space and open shelves, comfortable reading chairs with good lighting, and doors to the outside. There is WiFi and cable TV throughout the house along with unlimited local and long-distance telephone. Washer and dryer are in a fully-equipped laundry room.
This graceful, serene and light-filled home will be very pleasing to music and book-lovers. It will delight those with appreciation for architectural detail, quality finishings and furnishings, fine art, beautiful views, fresh mountain air, sunshine, and much more.

Thank you for allowing us to stay at your wonderful home on our most recent trip to Santa Fe. We have stayed in many very nice rental homes in Santa Fe over the years. Of all of them, yours truly captured the essence of the historic and contemporary styles so unique to the area. It was furnished immaculately and we truly felt like guests rather than rental clients. The mountain views, sprawling layout and outdoor settings made for a very relaxing retreat between our adventures around the area. We particularly enjoyed the proximity to hiking trails and Canyon Road, as well as the dining and cultural performances. We had a wonderful stay and thank you for your hospitality. Will definitely be back.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, pet owners, romantic getaway, age 55+, girls getaway.
