Welcome to Marshwind!
Located in the historic fishing village of Prospect, perched on the edge of the Atlantic Ocean - where crashing waves, granite rocks and wildlife surround you.
Open the door and you are just a few feet from the ocean's edge. Enjoy ocean views from every window in the home.
Stay inside and watch the tide ebb & flow from a comfy chair or venture out for one of the many coastal-trail or in-land hikes. Don't forget your camera, you will see beauty in the amazing vistas & abundant wildlife. Marvel at how plants and trees cling to the exposed granite coast.
Interested in birds? You will be able to add many coastal and ocean bird species to your list. Birds often make a stop in our backyard during their migrations in the fall & spring. Winter brings an abundance of Northern ducks.
Bring your kayaks or rent from a local outfitter - launch them from the boat ramp in your back-yard and explore some of the best kayaking coastline in Eastern Canada - shipwrecks, deserted islands and lighthouses are just waiting for you to discover.
Marshwind is perfect for a couple looking to get away from it all and enjoy some peace at the seaside - while still being close enough to it all for day-trips to Nova Scotia's attractions.
In 2012 Marshwind, was used as a set location for the Hallmark movie 'Christmas with Holly'.

The only thing better than the description, photos and previous review of Marshwind was actually being there. I was so enthused about Marshwind and the village of Prospect that I immediately called Meaghan to let her know how much we loved it and then called my family and friends to let them know "we love it here, we're not coming back, please come visit." The combination of the character of the diligently restored fishermen's cottage with the open concept comfort & spaciousness of the architecturally inspiring addition, with water view windows in every room, creates a home that's a delight to spend time in. We love to cook & the kitchen was well equipped and spacious to work in when we weren't too distracted by the view. Meaghan is a pleasure to deal with and provided us with many tips, information and web links that enhanced our stay. We highly recommend Marshwind to anyone looking for a truly coastal Nova Scotia experience with excellent proximity to Halifax, Peggy's Cove, Mahone Bay & Lunenberg with all the comforts of home, great hiking & loads of genuine character & history. Denise & Steve Collingwood OntarioRecommended for: Age 55+, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, sightseeing, families with young children.
Owner response: Hi Denise & Steve- we are so very glad that you enjoyed yourself, we hope you will come back again soon for some "restful" times at Marshwind!! - Meagan

My wife and I had a wonderful 20th anniversary trip at Marshwind. The house was spotless and was in a great location for day trips to Halifax, Peggy's Cove, Lunenberg and even the Bay of Fundy. No matter where we visited in Nova Scotia, we always looked forward to returning to Marshwind. The house was recently renovated and kept its traditional cottage charm while adding all modern comforts and appliances. Our favorite location was the postcard worthy coastal hike around the corner from the house. We walked along the granite coastline every day at either sunrise or dusk. We met many locals during these walks and all were friendly and offered advice on good places to visit. After sharing stories and pictures of Marshwind and Nova Scotia with family and friends, I expect that Marshwind will be visited by many others from Arkansas.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway, sightseeing, families with young children.

Why the Owner Chose Prospect:
Prospect Village is simply magical. We had lived in the Village for several years and knew that we never wanted to leave.
We jumped at the chance to buy this 150 year old Fisherman's Cape home and then proceeded to bring it back to life. We restored it's original charm with an architectural flair and updated it with modern, eco-friendly conveniences.
Living in Prospect is like living in a wildlife park - with the ocean just steps from the home, you can sit back with your tea and watch wildlife in their natural enviroment. If you want to get a bit closer to the action - there are several coastal & in-land hikes
The Unique Benefits at this House:
This home gives a rare glimpse into the past - when you first arrive in the Village, you will feel like you have stepped back in time as many of the homes have mantianed their original designs.
Nature is all around you - bird lovers will enjoy spotting Eagles, Herons, Willets, rare shore birds and coastal ducks to name a few.
In 2012 Marshwind was featured as a key location in the Hallmark movie 'Christmas with Holly', using shots from both the inside and outside of our home. Many movies have been shot in our beautiful village over the years.
