Monteverde chateau / country house description
We own one of the nicest properties in Monteverde and are looking forward to share it with you!
We built our house in Monteverde with the goal of owing a second home that we could share with friends and family while relaxing in a beautiful garden in one of Costa Rica's most beautiful places.
The spacious cottage is fully equipped; has a great room with tall wood ceilings, a complete kitchen, dining, and living area that opens to a large window overlooking the forest.
The house was built following the local rustic architecture but it has been our vision and goal to have a cozy and unique house were one can relax after a long day hiking .
In addition to the house, we have built a wonderful private garden from where you can see a large variety of birds and wildlife.
We welcome you to stay here to taste nature at it's best.

- Set atop the spine of Costa Rica’s continental divide, Monteverde is a world above the coastal towns that dot the country's famous shoreline. It is a place of cloud forests and coffee plantations, monkeys, mist, and friendly locals. Due to its high altitude – some 4,662 ft (1,440 m) above sea level – Monteverde is privileged to receive a steady supply of clouds and the life-giving moisture that they contain. This moisture, often in the form of fog, catches on the branches of the tallest trees and drips down to the other organisms below. This helps to support a complex and far-reaching ecosystem, one that harbors over 100 species of mammals, 400 species of birds, tens of thousands of insect species, and over 2,500 varieties of plants, 420 of which are orchids alone. Visitors can explore this internationally recognized environment from trails and trams, along canopy tours or inside museums. We welcome you to our property and advice you to plan on spending at least a few days to adventure through this verdant and mountainous world. PURA VIDA!...moreless

Great People, Great Property, Great Town
Great People, Great Property, Great Town
My husband and I rented the studio last August during a 1 1/2 week trip to Costa Rica (Monteverde + Manuel Antonio). First, the people: Regina and Andres (the owner and her son) are so wonderful and kind. They literally planned our whole trip for us, recommending guides, activities and restaurants and then booked it for us! When our luggage was lost and had to be delivered the next day, Regina not only negotiated the directions she gave me her shoes to wear because I didn't have any boots for our ATV ride. We were so blown away by their thoughtfulness and amount of effort they put into our stay. Second, the property. You are within walking distance to everything in Monteverde, but buffered from the street by a hand built(!) privacy fence that surrounds the property. Inside the fence are several small cabins, a lovely vegetable garden and gorgeous landscaping. It was the most charming place we have ever stayed in. The studio cabin is perfectly cozy and stocked with all the necessities (fridge! coffee maker!) and has a lovely little porch to watch the sunset. Third, the town. Monteverde was our perfect vacation spot. A mountain town that has all the amenities to make life easy and carefree (they'll come pick you up for ziplining in a little shuttle, there is a little shop to buy necessities in Santa Elena, several restaurants) without feeling touristy. We did an ATV ride, explored the cloudforest, went ziplining and hiked to San Luis Waterfall. For us, it was a great mix of new experiences and awe-inspiring moments. We drove to Monteverde from the airport (we had a second destination in Manuel Antonio). It was more expensive than public transit but worth it. It is important to point out that although most of trip was a breeze it is a bumpy road up to Monteverde. Just plan to drive during the day and take it easy.

Owner response: Dear Kat, We are glad you had a wonderful time during your stay. It was a pleasure to host you. Stay in touch! Best regards.

A beautiful getaway
A beautiful getaway
I spent a few nights in the studio cottage - it was perfect! The photos on the site do not do it justice - it is a cozy little spot with a comfortable bed, kitchenette, and bathroom and a shower from which you can look out over the mountains. It was incredibly relaxing, the hosts were fabulous, and it was very difficult to leave! Walking distance from great restaurants, tourist attractions.

My husband and I have had many stays at Yerba Buena and have enjoyed each day there. The accommodations are comfortable, the grounds are beautiful, and the location is extremely convenient to the heart of Monteverde. When you enter the gate you see and hear the sounds of the cloud forest environment immediately. The sunsets are the perfect end to your day. When we are gone we miss it and always look forward to our return.

Amazing hosts and quaint cabins!
Amazing hosts and quaint cabins!
This was an adorable place to stay up in Monte Verde (one of the most beautiful places in the world!). You are within walking distance to a lot of restaurants, hiking tours, and the chocolate tour. The cabins are so quaint but spacious and there are 3 different ones of different sizes to choose from depending on how many people you have. The hosts are great as well and will make your stay unbelievable! A not miss.

Owner response: Caits; Thank you for your review! AW
This was the first stop for my wife and I on our Honeymoon, and was an excellent spot for exploring the cloud forest. The owners not only welcomed us with open arms, but helped us figure out directions from the airport and helped plan a fantastic itinerary. We stayed in Cabin2, which had a partial kitchen, warm a shower and a basket of snacks waiting for us. The property is absolutely beautiful, with manicured gardens on the edge of the could forest. It is within walking distance from the restaurants in monteverde as well. While there we went zip-lining at selvatura, hiked in the cloud forest and hiked to a beautiful waterfall. The cabin is clean and beautiful inside with large windows and a view of the sunset over the cloud forest. Until staying at yerba buena I did not know places like this existed.

Year Purchased: 2007
About the owner: Our family is originally from San Jose. For several years, we visited Monteverde and dreamed with having our own piece of heaven in the Costa Rican Cloud Forest. In 2007, we bought this property and in 2008 we built our first cabin. We now have 4 cabins/cottages in the property.
Why the Owner Chose Monteverde:
We have almost one hectare (aprox 2.47 acres) of garden. Our house has several features that distinguish this property from any other in the Monteverde area. We built our cottage for our personal use following traditional local architecture. This is an example of ecoturism at it's best. The property is located within a walking distance of several restaurants, coffee shops, museums and the local cheese factory. We are located 5 minutes away (by car) from the main town (Santa Elena) where you can find a large variety of restaurants, pharmacy, banks, etc. We are also located 5 mins (by car) from the Monteverde Cloud Forest National Park.
The Unique Benefits at this Chateau / Country House:
- Access to our private garden - Bedrooms and bathrooms are cleaned every day with exception of Sundays and holidays (no extra fee). - With advance notice, we can arrange all your tours while in the Monteverde area. - We can help you with your travel arrangements in other locations of Costa Rica if necessary. - We work closely with a rent a car agency in case you would like to rent a car while in Costa Rica. - We offer internet access trough internet usb modem
