Huddleston house description
Enjoy a restful vacation on Leesville lake, away from the noise and bustle of Smith Mountain Lake. Yet, enjoy the dining and shopping of the Smith Mountain Lake area.
Leesville lake is very undeveloped. It's 17-mile shoreline allows for a beautiful boating day out, fishing, swimming, tubing and water skiing. It is remote, beautiful, and quiet. You wont see or hear any other homes from our home. Just the beautiful view of the lake and mountains.
Take in the stunning views of Smith Mountain Dam and Leesville lake from our 24-foot wide screen porch. A pool below will keep the kids happy while you relax. Or walk down to our beautiful dock for breakfast on the water. Bring your own kayaks, boats, or canoes for taking in the lake.
Large double-sliding doors open wide to bring the outdoors into the living-room/kitchen area. Our home can comfortably host 10 people moving around for dinners, conversation, swiming, and more.
Our fully stocked kitchen will be a fun place to prepare family meals. Eat around our built-in seating, or out on the screen porch.
Two bedrooms each have a queen-sized bed and a nearby bathroom. Downstairs, a rec-room has 3 bunk-beds (6 total beds) and another bathroom. Doors downstairs lead to the pool off the deck and another great view.
Note: we have a private dock thatis located down a steep trail to the lake. There is also a community boat dock(which you can use for loading people that cannot make the hike down/up from our private dock) and launch site for putting your boat/kayaks/canoe in the water. Please note that availabity of this launch site is determined by the lake level in Leesville Lake. Leesville Lake is a resevoir lake for Smith Mountain Lake and can vary in depth each day. There is another community dock located a couple miles away, in case the water level is lower.

Fabulous Home in a Forested Oasis
Fabulous Home in a Forested Oasis
What a lovely home, with no corners cut during the construction and with the furnishings. The ambiance was very homey and charming. The outdoor property is very rustic, but appropriate for the area and neighborhood. The pool was a blast for our children; very clean, refreshing and there were many fun toys to enjoy. The inside of the house was also very clean and well stocked with everything we could possibly need or desire. The view was enchanting and we loved hanging out on the huge porch and watching the weather patterns over the mountains and lakes. The path to the lake was narrow, uneven and a rigorous steep hike; which we did not mind one bit. The lake did not appeal to us for swimming. The water was dark and murky. There was loud insect noise in the evening. A few deer wandered around the yard one morning. The air conditioning in the unit put out a good deal of cool air. However, there was a problem with it being too cold on the lower level, and we were too warm upstairs. We closed all of the vents downstairs, which did not seem to make much of a change with redirecting the cool air upstairs. There were ceiling fans all over, which were reassuring during the month of August. We were a group of 15, and there was plenty of room and supplies. The downstairs is a huge family room with games, entertainment center and bunk beds. The upstairs has a great open kitchen/living room area combination, which made it easy to visit and socialize. The owners were delightful to deal with, and we would strongly recommend this property.

A quiet, relaxing lake retreat with a fabulous porch and pool too!
A quiet, relaxing lake retreat with a fabulous porch and pool too!
Our family was looking for a place to meet up with relatives and get away from the traffic, noise and distractions of the suburbs. We are not campers and don't like the idea of 'roughing it' in the woods! But, we wanted to get out and relax in a quiet peaceful spot where the kids could run around and be kids. We were very happy with this rental and it exceeded out expectations. The house is a ranch with a walk-out basement, located on the slope of a tree-lined hill that runs down to the lake. It is tastefully decorated in a cabin-like style with lots of natural wood and an incredible stone fireplace in the living room. The main living area is like a great room with the kitchen, living room and dining nook all together. The 2 bedrooms on this level are located away from the living area and noise. I also liked that each bedroom had their own full-sized bathroom, not just a shower. There is a LOT to like about this house, especially the screened-in porch with panoramic views of the lake and surrounding trees. You access the porch through these incredible double sliding-glass doors that let in the cool breeze and nearly double the size of the living area. The porch is the length of the house; it's huge! (and a perfect place to nap btw). We ate most of our meals on the porch, and the adults spent the evening chatting and drinking wine out there while keeping an eye on the kids playing in the pool below. The pool is another great feature of the house. It's a BIG pool located below the porch, has a wrap-around deck and is in half sun/shade. The kids spent most of their time in and out of it and playing downstairs in the walk-out basement. There was plenty of room for all of the kids, and I like that they had a separate place to play and hang out. (And that they could change out of their swimsuits and not have to come up through the main living area to do so.) They liked the bunk beds & foseball (sp?) table. There's also a bunch of games and books too. We rented the house for a family reunion, with 6 kids ranging from 4 - 16, and had plenty of space for all. We had a great time and are planning to go back again. I could also see this as a great location for girls' getaways or anyone who wants to relax in style and comfort out in the woods. The house is just a short drive from some nice restaurants, stores and other modern conveniences, and is clean, clean, clean, which means a lot to me. You won't be disappointed with this rental.
