Highway Rest Stop
Highway Rest Stop
The house itself was very charming and clean upon arrival. The description of the house is extremely misleading though. The house is located about 40 feet from a major highway and 150 yards from the train tracks. We were hoping for a quiet relaxing weekend in the wilderness while sitting around a bonfire but instead had to yell over the traffic in order to hear eachother. The hot tub was a nice touch as well but was unusable and filthy. The water was extremely filthy and foamy, when we called to have it cleaned the technition said he had not been over to clean it for a long time. Sleeping arrangements were on par, although tthe futon upstairs was broken and I am glad we brought a spare air matress for this reason. The only access we could find nearby to the river is through someone's property, unless you want to drive 5 minutes away. This house is extremely poorly managed and I would hope this doesnt happen to people renting this cabin inthe future. What was supposed to be a fun family weekend with a hot tub and peace and quiet did not happen, The description of this house is extremely poor and needs to be updated properly. We will definitely not return to this rental in the future.

Manager response: We are truly sorry if the guest felt misinformed, however, this cabin has never been advertised to be secluded or have river access and is clearly mapped as being in a neighborhood fairly close to the main road (a benefit to skiers in the wintry months), while still having several yards of a thick greenbelt between them. We informed the guest that the hot tub maintenance company was there earlier that day, and although the hot tub was not perfect, they made sure it was balanced, shocked, they put in brand new filters, and it was in decent condition. Their only other option would have been to completely drain the hot tub and since they take a while to heat, the guest would not have had one at all (normally not a guest’s preference). Still, at their cost they sent an after-hours person (hence, why he hadn’t personally been there for a while) to see if anything else could be done to help. After that 7pm call, the guest called again around 9pm because a child had locked them out of a bedroom. We then paid another after-hours person to help with that issue. We unfortunately did not refund the guest our usual hot tub refund because both service people noted that there were unpaid guests and pets which outweighed the $50 refund. Cedar Sky Cabin has been a popular rental for years with many return guests. We feel that our late night, immediate response times in trying to meet this guest’s requests exemplifies the excellent customer service we strive to provide. It is unfortunate that our efforts to accommodate this guest were unsuccessful.
