Family of 5. kids 17, 15, 12. Mom and Dad were comfy in the bed, and the pull out couch slept two more. Among the many extra's was an extra single cushion mattress and the three kids rotated being the one on the floor. Free wifi, cable TV and Netflix kept them from complaining too much at bed time. Kitchen well stocked with all pots pans and dishes. Extra sheets and towels and fins, beach umbrella, beach chairs, grilling gear. More than we expected. The beauty of the beach is more than I care to try to describe here. I likey. 7 nights went by too fast. 30 minute drive from Costco, Super Target, Sports Authority - but perfect solitude at the beach outside your door, Hawaii'n style. 5 minutes south of the famous Makaha Beach. 45 minutes to the infamous North Shore. 45 to SE shore and Makapu'u and Sandys beach. Small, but affordable. A great base camp for families and outdoor lovers. Best kept secret on Oahu. ...I dont want everyone to know about it. Pretty much perfect for secluded beach time in paradise....unless you are a habitual complainer or need top of the line accommodations to make yourself feel important. Not VIP or impressive conditions, and more roach traps could be placed as two rather healthy creatures were found and killed in daylight hrs......but if you don't have a stick up your butt about that, and/or you are taking your family and want the convenie,ce of staying on one of the best beaches in the world for a bargain of a price, you'll love it. We'd stay again for sure. Little extra conveniences everywhere: wifi, HD tvs w cable, Netflix, flippers, beach chairs, towels, beach umbrella, complete cooking utensils and dishes. Nuff said. Keep it on the down low!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with young children, sightseeing.

I am sorry about your unwelcome "visitors", but when you live in a tropical area (as anyone in Florida knows...) you're always fighting the good fight! If you have a chance to stay at this condo, do it, and plan to stay at least 2 weeks. My family and I stayed for 8 nights, and we all wish it could've been far longer. The condo was nicely furnished and has eveything one would need for a very pleasant and enjoyable stay. The pictures were dead on accurate and the condo was clean. The beds were comfortable, plenty of bath and beach towels and all the gear you need for the beach, including flippers. Bring or buy goggles and a snorkle, as those are the only items not provided. The waves were fairly large at times with a strong undertow, so be careful with young children during the winter months. Although we didn't watch much TV, the 2 TV's and wireless internet were great when it rained heavily the one day. The main TV has Netflix as well, which was good to have in addition to the local cable channels. To be able to step directly onto the beach from your condo is priceless! No elevators, no stairs, no waiting............it's right there!!! Considering there are three good sized condos on that beach front, there were very few people on the beach. It was like having your own private paradise at times. The views at this beach are amazing! We watched many whales off in the distance and saw a few turtles in the surf and a seal on a nearby beach. The aquatic life is abundant near the left side of the beach, with many varieties of fish and even an eel or two. The condo is located in a working class neighbourhood. There's plenty of security around the complex and it's extremely safe. Janis was very helpful and great to deal with. We loved our time at the condo, and hopefully can return for a longer stay in the near future!Recommended for: Age 55+, people with disabilities, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Excellent cabana - will definitely return and highly recommend this unit. Stepping right out onto the beach each morning for a sunrise walk was a highlight of each day. Beautiful views and semi-private beach. Condo clean and well maintained and provided many amenities needed to enjoy a relaxing vacation. Beach chairs, cooler, hair dryer and much more available for use while staying. Condo is close enough to everything but far enough to be out of the hustle bustle.Recommended for: Age 55+, girls getaway, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with young children, sightseeing.

We went to oahu to get married from michigan and we spent 8 days in makaha and wish we just spent more time away from the city to spend time at the beach at the condo. Walk out to the water and hear the ocean all night long, condo had 2 flat screens and everything from food to cooking utensils and tupperware, flippers, towels and shampoo with conditioner. I know we just got married but we have to re-new our vows someday and our next trip we dont do as much driving around a small island, makaha is a small area toward the end of the road with little traffic that has everything we needed' we drove to honolulu to see my uncle every other day but it was more exhausting than anything, should have just drank at the beach.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing, tourists without a car.

This outstanding beach home is a scenic stroll and right on the beach, and only a few steps to the water. Modestly decorated and well appointed condo is located just minutes from local shopping, surfing, restaurants, and coffee shops. This house has it all, including living room and TV's, TV/DVD/surround sound, dining room, and well appointed kitchen.Master Bedroom was steps from the sand and the beach and equppied with a TV which made the boyfriend happy so we can watch the games while I made us cocktails.Recommended for: Girls getaway, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with young children, tourists without a car.

This is an incredible beachfront vacation. We had the beach to ourselves (almost) during the week. To walk off the lanai and onto the beach is awesome. We had lots of toys to choose from to play in the sand and the water for our 7 and 10 year olds. We had heard the area outside the complex can be less that desirable but we had no issues. The local groundsperson at the complex told us where to go trick or treating and we had a blast. All the beaches in the area were not busy. This is the place to go to get away from the crowds of Waikiki. The owner was easy to communicate with. There were books of the area in the room that were great. This is the place if you want to truly relax on the beautiful sandy beaches of Hawaii.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with young children.

What a wonderful Hawaii experience .As a returning former resident of hawaii this condo offers everything you need. Beautiful ocean views right off the lanai. A102 is the only place to stay in Makaha. Very clean and condo had everything down to the hair dryer . Owner extremely helpful and responded to my requests promptly. Highly recommended.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, families with young children, sightseeing.

RENTAL RULES AND REGULATIONS Makaha Beach Cabanas 84-965 Farrington Hwy, Waianae, Hawaii 96792, Unit #A102 1. CHECK-IN TIME IS 4 P.M. HST AND CHECK-OUT IS 10 A.M. HST. NO Early Check-ins or late checkouts permitted w/o prior approval. 2. This is a NON- SMOKING unit. 3. Pets are not permitted in rental units under any conditions. 4. We will not rent to vacationing students or singles under 25 years of age unless accompanied by an adult guardian or parent. 5. Rules of the condo complex must be observed and obeyed (i.e., Observing "quiet hours", parking head-on in designated space, no hanging of towels from lanai, use of public areas). A complete list of the rules will be provided in the unit. 1. PAYMENT - An advance payment equal to 50% of the rental rate is required 30 days after receipt of your reservation deposit for bookings more than 4 months in advance. The advance payment will be applied toward the room rent. Your reservation will be made through VRBO, please make your payments through VRBO. Personal checks are not accepted. The BALANCE OF RENT is due 30 days before your arrival date for bookings more than 4 months in advance, fifteen (15) days before your arrival date if the booking is on short notice. For last minute bookings with less than fifteen days advance, only credit card payments via VRBO or PayPal are accepted. 2. CANCELLATIONS - A sixty (60) day notice is required for cancellation. Cancellations that are made more than sixty (60) days prior to the arrival date will incur no penalty. Cancellations or changes that result in a shortened stay, that are made within 60 days of the arrival date, forfeit the full advance payment . Cancellation or early departure does not warrant any refund of rent or deposit. 3. MONTHLY RESERVATION CANCELLATIONS - Monthly renters must cancel one hundred twenty (120) days prior to check-in. Monthly renters who make a change that results in a shortened stay must be made at least ninety (90) days prior to check-in. 4. MAXIMUM OCCUPANCY- The maximum number of guests per condominium is limited to four (4) persons. An additional charge of $10 per person per night for number of guests over two (2) will be assessed. 5. THIS PROPERTY REQUIRES A WEEKLY (5 to 7) NIGHT MINIMUM STAY. Longer minimum stays may be required during holiday periods. If a rental is taken for less than 5 days the guest will be charged the per-night rate of $115/$125 per night depending on the season. 6. INCLUSIVE FEES - Rates include a one-time linen-towel setup. Amenity fees are included in the rental rate. 7. NO DAILY MAID SERVICE - While linens and bath towels are included in the unit, daily maid service is not included in the rental rate. There is a coin laundry available for extended stays. We provide beach towels. We do not permit bath towels or linens to be taken from the unit for beach use. 8. RATE CHANGES - Rates subject to change without notice, however no changes will be made to signed contracts w/deposits. 9. FALSIFIED RESERVATIONS- Any reservation obtained under false pretense will be subject to forfeiture of advance payment, deposit and/or rental money; the party will not be permitted to check-in. 10. WRITTEN EXCEPTIONS - Any exceptions to the above mentioned policies mustbe approved in writing in advance. 11. PARKING PASSES - Parking passes are issued by building manager on arrival if during office hours, or issued the following business day if office is closed, with approval of the condo owner. Renters must display parking pass in the windshield at all times. Failure to display may result in towing of vehicle at renter's expense. Return the parking passes to security or front office upon departure. Park in designated parking area only, (no specific assigned parking except for the daily/. overnight guest stalls), head on parking- no backing into spaces. Additional guests must get approval from security/ front office to use the guest parking. 12. HURRICANE OR STORM POLICY - No refunds will be given unless: a. The National Weather Service orders mandatory evacuation in a "Tropical Storm/Hurricane Warning area" and/or b. A mandatory evacuation order has been given for the “Tropical Storm/Hurricane Warning" area of residence of a vacationing guest. The day that the National Weather Service orders a mandatory evacuation order in a "Tropical Storm/Hurricane Warning," area, we will refund: a. Any unused portion of rent from a guest currently registered, b. Any unused portion of rent from a guest that is scheduled to arrive, and wants to shorten their stay, to come in after the Hurricane Warning is lifted; and c. Any advance rents collected or deposited for a reservation that is scheduled to arrive during the "Hurricane Warning" period. TENANTS LIABILITY: Tenant agrees to accept liability for any damages caused to the property (other than normal wear and tear) BY TENANT OR TENANTS' GUESTS, including, but not limited to, landscaping, misuse of appliances, and/or furniture and equipment furnished. If damages are in excess of the pre-purchased Property Damage Protection plan, tenant agrees to reimburse Janis Levin-Gorelick and/or Stephen D. Gorelick for costs incurred to repair/ replace damaged items. Failure to comply will result in your name being listed on http://www.guestchecker.com/ SLEEPING CAPACITY / DISTURBANCES: Tenants and all other occupants will be required to vacate the premises and forfeit the rental fee and the security deposit for any of the following: A. Occupancy exceeding the sleeping capacity stated on the reservation confirmation; B. Using the premises for any illegal activity including, but not limited to, the possession, serving or consumption of alcoholic beverages by or to persons less than 21 years of age; C. Causing damages to the premises rented or to any of the neighboring properties; D. Any other acts which interfere with neighbors' rights to quiet enjoyment of their property; E. Violation of the unit and condo rules posted in the unit. BBQ, SHOWERS, OCEAN FRONT ACCESS, LANAIS/PATIOS: Tenant hereby acknowledges that the property they have reserved includes BBQ areas, elevators, outside showers, direct oceanfront/ public beach access, covered outdoor lanais, etc. The undersigned is fully aware that these places can be dangerous, that the lanai/patio, outdoor shower can be slippery when wet, and that injury is likely to occur to anyone who is not careful. Tenants should observe and adhere to all rules and policies as posted at the property. With full knowledge of the above facts and warnings, the undersigned accepts and assumes all risks involved in or related to the use of the BBQ areas, elevators, outside showers, FYI: BBQ areas need to be /or may already be reserved in advance for large parties. Check with office or security. HOLD HARMLESS: Janis Levin-Gorelick and/or Stephen D. Gorelick or Makaha Beach Cabanas do not assume any liability for loss, damage or injury to persons or their personal property. Neither do we accept liability for any inconvenience arising from any temporary defects or stoppage in supply of water, gas, electricity, or plumbing. Nor will Janis Levin-Gorelick and/or Stephen D. Gorelick or Makaha Beach Cabanas accept liability for any loss or damage caused by weather conditions, natural disasters, acts of God, or other reasons beyond their control. Gorelick or Makaha Beach Cabanas free and harmless of any claim or suit arising therefrom. In any action concerning the rights, duties, or liabilities of the parties to this agreement, their principals, agents, successors, or assignees, the prevailing party shall be entitled to recover reasonable attorney fees and costs.

About the owner: We live in Michigan and have been coming to Hawaii for years. Currently, we are both retired but because our grandchildren live in Michigan, we can't live here full-time...or we would! We can only come for about 6 weeks in the winter and so decided to share our Fabulous Condo with others.
Why the Owner Chose Makaha:
We have been to all the islands numerous times & have stayed in wonderful hotels & time shares. Once we found the Cabanas we knew we had found the Best of the Best! We didn't have to leave in order to do all the activities we love: snorkel, dive, whale watch, beach walking and on & on!
Being in a local area, allows us to skip the crowds unless we want to take the 45 min. drive to see the sights in Waikiki, Honolulu, Pearl Harbor or the North Shore. It's great to be close enough to get to the fine restaurants, shopping & visit the famous attractions and then come back to peace & quiet!

The absolute best part is being on the main floor & just walking out on the virtually private beach. Clean water, trade winds, lapping surf - all in your front 'yard'. It really doesn't get any better than this!
